Nope , iRacing or rFactor has nothing to do with the FIA or rbr simulator.
Nope , Ferrari doesn't give any data to the games they produce.

Lap times yes , physics 0.

Yeah I got the same lap times as a world champion would have with physics just like f1 2010.

pre calculated for a realistic time , 0 physics. Obviously.

Enzo, last time you started spurted nonsense you were moaning about the Enzo not being fast enough in GT5, despite many people posting laptimes faster than the real car on a variety of different tracks, despite many people showing you concrete proof.

I just linked you the website of Rfactor Pro, where all you had to do was click it and read the front page to know that I am correct.

F1 2010 is a game, and if you cannot understand this then I am to assume you are a child, who knows no better.

I can feel driving lines better because of the GT series (not necessarily GT5) and better understand the whole concept of static/kinetic friction in tires. So yes.

Usually a better driver on the streets is someone who pays attention, follow the traffic regulations and is always keen and ready to avoid an accident.

GT5 have absolutely nothing barely related to these matters, which is why I must answer no, it didn't improve my driving skills.

I recently realized that the left turn that leads to the bakery down my road, following a steep right with an annoying gravel surface is much smoother. I attack it with greater confidence, too. The time gain allows me to get there while the baguette is still warm, which is quite priceless in an of itself.

Seriously, no impression of improvement. But then again, I play GT5 with manual transmission on a controller while driving an automatic Suzuki SX4 in real life, so what could I really expect? My driver's licence won't even let me drive a manual car. Besides, I'm really careful, consistently drive within the speed limits, abide by all traffic laws there are and never got into an accident in the 2 years (and 93.000 kms - I drive a lot) that I've driven. I drive like a grandma :D

did you became a better driver brcause of GT5? Based on my experience the answer is a big "YES" im now way much more comfortable with rear drive cars. I drove an m3 e46 on the track and I think in GT the handling is way too neutral. the car isn't that perfect but it still handles like a nimble fly... in real life there's much more under-steer and less tail snap or whatever you call it in my own opinion. I back in the day I wrecked a friends GT3 no joke, because of an aggressive right foot upon the exit. This could have been prevented if I was playing GT5 before that event. :P

I drive an Evo X now and though its way easier to drive on track than a Porsche. I thought I became good at it this driving thing :) MY Evo I drive it now a bit more on the limit now. I dont do much track days I only had 4 track days in my life but my last one after playing GT5 for 3 months Im quite surprised of my self :) both on RWD and AWD. :

the yaw control feels close in real life too, i presume.

So you guys have the same experieces too or something? 👍

I see you didn't become a better speller beacuse of GT5

Yes, cause if i now compare my skills with lets say: most wanted, i was like :huh, this is so easy, and i ised tot hink its hard?

Man card revoked!

Exactly. Here in CY you can opt in for AT or MT. Obviously a MT licence encompasses AT cars, but not the other way round. I chose the easiest way, knowing the I don't really car for cars in the first place anyway (I drive a hell of a lot, but that's because my job is 90kms away from my place). I don't plan on buying a sport coupé that would require MT, nor do I want to enjoy the "true" driving experience irl. GT5 is there for that.

I'm more of a motorcycle dude irl. And MT is fine there.

I feel if anything it has made my driving skills worse. It doesn't compare the same as real driving. In the past you could separate game and reality very easily so there was no chance of any skills cross-talking. Now that the gap between game and reality is closer, the problems with the game can bleed over and ruin your real world skills.

rFactor?? 2010? both are piece of crap with grid physics

the link of crap you gave me is 0.

my reflexes are definitely sharper, i can anticipate and avoid idiot drivers much quicker than i used to be able to, and im always looking for the fastest line thru a corner, and also i can pick out minute handling differences in various cars that i drive that my dad doesnt even notice. and my coup de grace? i can kick out my cars tail in the snow when i please and maintain the perfect drift with minimal effort (

i tried this trick on one of my friend's girlfriends who i dont like... GREAT fun.. it was night time and i was cutting thru the high school in a new year snow storm, there was snow on the ground, and i got that evil idea as we were coming up on the left hand turn by the bus yard that leads back to the neighborhood.. so right before the corner i turned in and gave it just enough gas to kick the tail out.. i slid thru perfectly and brought the car back.. the tail snapped out to the other side when i caught it because of the bad shocks but it was easily caught.. and i swear to god the girl nearly 🤬 herself, you shouldve seen her face... ah that was freakin great. she ran to my friend screaming with a ghost white face.. he was like how did you lose control of the car? and i was like "i gave it too much gas.." then later confessed that i did it on purpose.. he was mad for the next hour.. heeheheheh

Gran Turismo has saved my life on at least 3 seperate occasions.

i missed an accident by a literal inch because of gran turismo.. no joke.. thanks to reflexes and car control.. i was powersliding in a parking lot just goofing off in the snow, i thought my friends car was on the other side, but i found out the hard way it was alot closer than i thought when my car was barreling out of a left hand slide... and my friends Pilot was right in front of me.. my car was sliding right toward it at a clip which everyone surely thought garunteed a nasty hit.. i literally had maybe i dont know.. 2 seconds to think.. let alone make a move.. honestly i had gone into "break out the checkbook" mode, but this part of my brain never got the memo.. instead i had a clear thought instructing me to "get that foot out of the gas... NOW! do not touch the wheel, keep it into the turn.. but just get it off the throttle.. do not touch the brake" So i pulled my foot out.. keeping the wheel locked into the slide.. and not touching the brake.. following my instructions.. and to everyone's (and my) amazement, my Pilot responded brilliantly.. and in the nick of time, perfectly bringing its tail back in line from the doomsday slide.. and then snapping its nose (and subsequently the entire car) not a moment to soon over to the right.. totally avoiding my friends car.. which everyone thought it was going to hit.. me included, before finally sliding to a halt right before a curb.. geezus ive never been more scared in my life.. and im not going to attempt that again, my other friend later showed me the distance between the two cars' tire tracks.. with his pointer and thumb.. on the same hand.. he said the two cars literally missed rubbing fenders by an inch.. and i can totally back it up.. i looked out the drivers side window as my Pilot was passing the nose of the second Pilot, and i could not see its headlights, and they were on.. honestly terrifying.. that should have been a hit, to this day i still dont know how my car missed his, let alone how i was able to calmly think how to avoid it and act on it in less than a second

Even though there's no substitute for real world experience, I feel that playing GT3-4 and other racing games helped me learn to drive in real life easier and quicker. I drove home from getting my learner's permit at 15 lol.

I'd also say that the first time I drove a fast go-kart at an indoor karting place (like up to 30mph fast) my experiences on Gran Turismo helped me out for sure, just learning how to hit apexes and get a good racing line.

To this day, the one thing I've learned most about car control from is the BMW Performance Driving School. You learn A TON about car control on a super-slick skidpad in a 500hp M5 with all the driver aids off lol

What a dangerous topic.
Is it responsible for a forum to propagate the notion to novice drivers that this video game can substitue proper adequate real world experience?
My loved one's safety says no.
Any perceived advantage is fool's gold.
As well as GT5 simulates driving, the two should still be kept seperate.
There are many factors that a video game doesn't translate.

You can learn some of the basic knowledge about braking, turn in, apex and track out, but it is nothing close to real world experience. In a real world spin, it's much harder to save it. You move, not just the image on the TV. I've been airborn in a real race car and the landing was enough to knock my hands off the wheel. Things just happen faster in the real world and tend to hurt more. A competitor may just tap your car and you've done two rotations before you even had a chance to think about a save. GT5 does an aweful job with simulating the loss of grip of a small bump. If you're already on the limit and someone touches you, you're going to get sideways in a hurry.

The consequenses are much greater for shorting an apex or coming into a corner too hot. I take faaaaarrrrrr more chances in a video game than I ever would feel safe doing on the race track. Real racing is full of calculated risks - getting right up to the limit and stepping just a little over it.

Natalie Portman is from Israel. My profile picture is a Mclaren F1, Mclaren is British.

I suppose if you have issues reading then the Rfactor pro site would be difficult to understand, I am sorry for this. Maybe I can help you, I know a good english tutor.

I was already a pretty good driver but from this game I learned how to get more grip from FWD cars and how to get the most power out of my gears and shift at the right point. Before GT5 I sometimes made my car bog a bit because of a bad shift, but now my car seems more alive and agile because I am able to keep the car within the power band of each gear. I am still learning how to heal-toe down shift, it doesn't seem natural to me but i guess my technique is wrong. I normally just coast and rev the engine to the right point before i let off the clutch pedal.

One thing GT5 is WAY off on is driving a FF car hard. FF is just too easy to control in GT5.

Where is the bit where your back end comes around under heavy breaking mid-corner when you've totally screwed up? Being young and stupid once I've spun a number of FF cars, once to destruction through a fence into a field. All the FF cars in GT5 do is predictable understeer, lift off, not understeering at all, give it more juice. They are too hard to unsettle.

Drive a FF like you do in GT5 and prepare for hospital.

Two of my cars are front wheel drive and theyre both very predictable with understeer and braking..

I autocross a FF car, and while it's predicable, I can make it do things around the cones that I can't make the virtual version do in GT (short of pulling the handbrake).

As for the question I'd have to say: Eh.. not really. Most of my skill increase has been from autox, either driving or riding along with more experienced drivers.

you may have just signed the minivans death warrant.. haha jk im not that evil.. i guess ill take your word for it and buy a proper Prelude/CR-Z or something later when i get my own cash in real life

Playing racing games all my life hasent made me a better driver. Perhaps it has given me a bit more understanding of driving, what to do in some situations and what happens to cars in certain situations. Tho only having a driving license for a month so far I cant really say just yet.

If I decided to turn traction control off and go 120 down the highway it might make a difference for about the 20 seconds I last before I slam into something and end up in an obituary.
