Wo! I'm confused. Are y'all saying that if i get bronzes on a liscence test and get the bronze car I can't go back and get the silver car later on?
No, if you get the bronze prize car now and then go back later and silver, you will get the silver prize car BUT NOT the bronze car AGAIN. If you get silver the first time, you will get broinze and silver prize cars at the same time. That's why I have the Lupo and some ugly concept in my garage.

I imported the licenses and the 100,000 but, I didn't spend it, at first anyway. I bought a '97 MR2 G-Limited for 8 something which had 197HP, and used that to win the Sunday Cup. With the prize money I then had and the sale of the autobianchi from the Sunday Cup, I bought a 95 RX-7. Raced a couple races, got it to about 270HP, and beat the special condition 2 which gives you a 265,xxxCr prize car in about 10 minutes for 2 races. So really there isn't a whole lot of point in refusing the original 100,000. I used it to buy a Mustang GT, a Ford Lightning, and the Bora Jetta. None of which I have actually raced with.

Also, last night i went through the A license and silvered all of them. It didn't really take that long.

Have fun everyone.

well, i don't own a copy yet (9th of march :dunce: ), but when i do i won't import my old files, i want to start from scratch! it isn't fun when you're starting to play the game and already able to buy any car you want.........why compete in these chamionships????? it won't get you much further..........

I did the GT3 to GT4 transfer for both $$ and Licenses. (Yeah Wuss, Cheater, etc.)
But went and did Lic. B & A anyway (to get cars of course)
Credits to buy Mustang GT (sweeeeeet)

Note: To those who "bronze only", you can not get another car if you "silver" or "gold" all tests. Found this out last night. At bonus car screen look at the bottom of screen it says you can only win this one time :grumpy: :grumpy:

I was wondering about this. So your saying that I can still go get the liscence cars even if I transfered my 2 liscences over? And I only need bronze on all of them to get the car? I'm just making sure.

After rebooting the PS2 numerous times, I went ahead & just started completely over. I understand there is an advantage to not transferring your licenses & 100,000 credits to GT4. By starting over you have the ability to unlock more vehicles I do agree completely that the game physics are completely different, I think it's best for me to learn to drive the game again.

I disagree. A lot of people cannot in real-life afford the car that is their favorite GT4 whip.

As far as starting from the beginning (from scratch)... The only races that this is an issue on are the very first in beginner. After that you can race new cars at the same HP levels as your modded used rides.

I started with the Lupo, built it up a little, and bored myself silly. You know what? If you like 2nd Gen RX-7's or old-school Trueno's, then buy them and race them! Because all you are going to do is build them up to 300HP (or whatever) and race them after the first series when it's competitive to add the power. So you have a 350HP used car... so? My personal taste is to buy the M3 (loaded my GT3 money after racing the Lupo), which is a car I probably won't ever get to drive in real life.

Whats the difference buying between a modded used car and a stock new car in the color you want? I think when people say they want to "start from scratch" like in the "Which car 1st" thread, it's just a cop-out on the fact that they really want to drive a Trueno/RX-7/Supra/whatever, etc. I for one am not going to feel like i didn't "accept the challenge" of starting with a crapbox. I did it and it was boring. When I think back to previous GT's, I can remember modding that old early 90's Supra to try to beat those cars, but what I really remember is that sweet green and red (racing body modification) accented Skyline that I built and loved to drive.

ok...i looked everywhere around gamefaqs and here and I have no idea how to import my gt3 save file? Can any one help me? I just want to start off /w my real life car...civic si...type r...xP

i did inport the cash and licenses. im doing all the liscense tests anyway to get the cars and i inported the money because there are NO used american cars. they are almost all japanese. all but a few. that angers me. theres plenty of cheap american cars they could have put in. a 3rd gen camaro, i know they have the 89 z concept but im not talking about that, fox body mustangs, maybe some 80-90s merc cougars or ford t-birds, even some dodge omnis. ive always been disapointed in the used car selection with these games. please fix it in the next one.

I did import the cash and licenses, however I want to get gold in the license area and i only had like 2,000 in GT3.. so it wasn't that easy of a start. I respect that though.

I transfered my data from GT3. I don't see any point of not doing it. Gonna go back to Gold all the test anyway for the cars. At least I can buy my beloved Catherham right out and drive it!

I bought a 98 Civic type R used for my first car, try that first then learn the game physics of driving. This is way different from GT3.

Yes, I too wish for some of these used american cars... like my old '89 Mustang LX (one of the most mod-able cars in aftermarket history) but I think PD did well to include the classic american muscle that made it into the game. Good enough for me I say...

please fix it in the next one.

Do you realize that, statistically speaking, if GT5 experiences the same delays as GT4, most of the players will probably be dead before the launch date?
:scared:

nope... started from stratch. Far more fulfilling. I might import it when i have more money than god just to buy frivalous stuff like rims, but I'm going to get 100% with no start help from GT3.

Hey I got a major question..

If you import your GT3 garage into GT4, what the heck happens if you have the Diablo GT, or the Porsche 911 GT3 in your garage? I doubt those cars are in GT4 or even hidden on the disc right?

You do not get to import your garage. The car models are different. The only thing you get is 100,000 CR and your B and A licenses by loading your old GT3 save.

Yes, I did import the cash and the lisences. I bought a car that was only $5,000 out of the original budget (1991 R32 GTR) and I'm doing the B and A lisence tests right now.

^goto game status in 'home' and press start.

I wasn't going to import my credits, but my friend came over and he wasn't too impressed with my lupo so I loaded up the credits so we could play around with some real cars.

Well I imported my money because I earned that money. besides now I have a realy fast RX-8 and to me the slow cars one has to put up with at the begining are less fun.

Are you sure? In the asian copies you can. If you all gold the first time, you get all 3 cars. They might have changed it but I doubt it. What it means by you can only win this once, is you can only get a license prize once, but if you do silvers, you will get the silver car.

Yes you can only win that prize once whether it was bronze, silver or gold.
not all three at seperate times

EDIT: PunkRock says you can win all three at different times, I was under the impression that you could only win it once. Sorry if I screwed up.

im getting gt4 tomorrow, and i think i will do both, i will use the $100,000 just to buy cars that i want to drive like the 05 mustang, gnx, etc. but when i start it off seriously i will start from scratch

even if you didnt import the save u could still start with a good car just by doing the license . so I did import but I started to do all the license first.

What does it mean when the message appears saying that you can only import the GT3 game data to GT4 once?

Does it leave some sort of id/"mark" on the saved GT3 data specifying that it has already been transfered? I wonder...

What if I want to start all over and transfer the 100,000 again? (After deleting the current GT4 memory data) is it possible? Is this transfer a one time deal or did anybody did this more than once?????

Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
