The new 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG perhaps?

2012mercedesbenzamgslk5.jpg

Apparently convertible. Though, your car looks a little sharper.

Definitely the new SL test mule. Great spot there! Send it to as many car mags as you can and they may print it and pay you.

Always been meaning to ask if you have to pay extra tax/license to register a LHD car in Japan?

Haven't got a clue unfortunately. Haven't really gotten around to purchasing a car yet. I'm waiting for my deal with Toyota to get signed, hopefully I get some sort of discount from that. Although that's probably wishful thinking from just a beginning team driver.

I don't think so. But importing any car into Japan involves jumping through a lot of hoops (emissions, headlight alignment, speedo calibration etc.)

I'm pretty sure that if you buy a new car from BMW or Mercedes (possibly some other makes too) in Japan you can specify LHD. Personally, I don't get it but for some Japanese people LHD has posing value.

You're a racing driver and you live in Japan...? I hate you. :sly:

I wouldn't necessarily call me a racing driver. Many years of National karting is impressive. But It's still not really racing to me. I'll wait until I get into some cars, hopefully next year, before I begin to even begin to call myself a racing driver.

If you want to live in Japan. Depending on age, go to college here. Right now I currently study at a University in Tokyo that teaches in English. It's a fantastic school. So if your in High School. Something to maybe look forward to!

I missed that boat many years ago I'm afraid. Although I have spent most of my career in Hong Kong, I do plan to live and work in Japan one day in the not too distant future.

Hong Kong is very nice. I have a few friends living there. Asian countries are really unique. Each seems so similar at first, but they have underlying major differences within each culture. Depending on which culture you enjoy the most, you will find your favorite Asian country lol. For me it's definitely Japan. I'm mixed Japanese American so I naturally love 日本。;)

edit: if you want to see some of the cars I have driven, i have a few photos on there from some schools and scholarship shootouts.

Tell me you took pics of the white Fiat...

The Fiat has been there for years and since I did not like the model when it came out, I never took the picture. I actually do not dislike this one, which seems to be rally modified.

Yesterday I went to pick up some wine:I thought I can still not keep the new Audi A6 and A8 apart when I saw this:

the side view was so enormous:
6263223772_6d5d2f7247.jpg

so definitely an A8. When I walked back I looked at the front:

and thought what the heck:

Last week I went to the HQ and ended up in a traffic jam:

I loved this Alfa Romeo:

There were some old Mercedess:

And a bit further at a tank station a Lotus 7 replica on a trailer:

In the weekend this UK "racing" Toyota supra came up, while driving back from the summer house:

B.t.w.: Last time I hear my sister is selling her 2CV Charleston, seems to be inconvenient for winter.

It might be a Ritmo/Strada Abarth, nice car!

E AMG? Really?

Nothing special, but that's probably how it'll be until next spring...

Damn it, Rue, you make me want to visit HK for a month just to go snap photos and buy super low-priced goods I can't find here. :grumpy:

Haha! I visited for a month once and ended up coming back and staying for 11 years...

Special request: Fiat Abarth TC130:

Love the blue SVX.

Is this the first Aston Martin Cygnet (Toyota iQ) in the thread? If so, I hope it's the last...

Great car unmolested, but that's totally chavved to pieces, sadly. What's with the tacky scorpion decals? Thanks for the pics anyway though!

What's with the tacky scorpion decals?

Just wants to confirm to everyone it definitely is an Abarth I guess

Still nice to see a classic hot hatch there, even one that's been failed up :( I'd love to see many more classic hot hatches around this thread.

Is this the right place to be jealous that all those cool cars have shown up in a communist country?

Technically Communist, but having said that, just wait and see the cars that will be heading to China proper in the not to distant future...

So I'm here in London with a CF card filled with cars, but my laptop and Camera aren't agreeing and I can't get them on. So, until then, I'll just give some highlights. I do have pictures so they aren't claims, right now.

2x DB7 Zagatos
Aston V600
Ford GT 1000RE
3x Vanquishs
Matte Grey 458
McLaren MP4-12C
Bentley S1 Continental

And others. I should hopefully be getting them on tomorrow, with whatever I see tomorrow stacked ontop of that. Sorry for the lame post, but I'm still a little hyped up from everything, I just wanted to share.

EDIT!!

I got them on. Working on them right now.

Mostly Belgravia and Harrods area. But I managed a few around the Warwick Ave. Tube stop. I'm staying right down from Harrods, like a block, so it's an easy walk to the wealthy areas.

And here we go:

Aston DB9, I had no idea how many there are here.

Holy mackerel! That's an awesome haul of spots...highlights for me are the DB7 Zagatos, the V600(look at the size of that thing) and the GT (GTs are pretty uncommon in the UK I believe), some lovely cars there, the old Rollses(?) and Bentleys are superb too.

Awesome spots, I saw the exact same Mondial when I was there, the thing is just left there and is full of dents. It's a shame the "Arab Supercar Summer Season" has ended. The Pagani Zonda Cinque and Koenigsegg Agera R were outisde the Dorchester for 2 months and I missed them..
