A post for Cano?

Very early car:

Got damn what a find. Both guesses on it are good, but nope. Early Bugattis are hard to get right, I don't know if I am right, but I'm closer: this is a Type 30.

Early Car:

Heck this is so french. Might be a Peugeot, or even a Panhard. Without seeing the front, I cannot tell.

Seems US to me:

Not US at all, british. It might be a Bristol or even an Austin, I don't know. My knowledge in pre-60s british cars is quite limited. I'm sure someone from around there could shed some light into this. Stumpy, maybe?

That late Aurelia is amazing. Quite the spots, bud. The Borgward and the Citroen wagon are also awesome. MOAR OLD CARS!

Definitely an Austin. Probably a A40 or A70.

It looks like an A70, but in all the pics I just reviewed over teh interwebz I could not find an A70 that completely matched the taillight design and gas cap location of that one. I'm still unsure.

And the convertibleness. :boggled:

The Type 30 and Type 43 are pretty much the same car underneath (as is the more famous Type 35 racer) The only pictures of the Type 30 i can find, in road trim, have quite different rear end treatments to the one on the trailer.

This is another Type 43, which in my eyes looks very similarto the one posted.

As for the cream convertible, the detailing/styling on the side of the car and the general shape is very Austin A70, but the shape of the boot opening is totally different. They did produce an A70 drop top, but it was much smaller and sleeker than the saloon version and looked nothing like this. No other BMC marque produced anything similar either. I thought it might have been a period coach-built conversation of an A70 saloon, but they were 4-doors and this is just two. :odd:

.....Cream Convertible is a Daimler Conquest. ;)

A Daimler Conquest Century Drophead Coupe to be precise.

Yeah, that seems to be it. Here is one of the pictures that led me to say that it was a Type 30 last night, but the 43 is much more accurate.

But is it genuine or a Teal? Seem to remember there was a replica on here not so long ago (though might actually have been a very early post, I worked through the first 100 pages or so when I found this thread!)

Seems to be rust or perhaps just dirt on it, not sure if that makes it more likely a Bugatti or a replica though...hmmm.

Aston Martin Vantage
It's from a while back, but I spotted the baby Aston in ASDA car park on my way into work.

It is legit. When they are replicas, you can immediately tell.

pretty unmolested R32

Awesome, that car is almost stock!

Did You See Anything Good Today?

Certainly did.

Nice monster there, too. Very good people!

I'll also post, because It's been a while.

This was sent to me by a friend from Aguascalientes, a somewhat far-away state in Mexico. He knows I'm into car-spotting so he carries a camera and sometimes he finds good stuff. This time it was a cool 1965 Mercury Monterey with the Breezeway rear window. These things were never sold here, so it's twice rare.

This was also submitted by him, it's a 1951 Chevrolet... 4 doors, but it wears genuine Cragars.

Another spot from Aguascalientes, and yet another 1951 Chevrolet, this one a two-door and in a lot better of a shape than the last one. All it needs is the previous car's Cragars to be complete.

I barely got the camera out in time to register this 1970 Mustang hardtop. Not the greatest of pics, but come on.

A beautiful BMW 850i V12 which I barely caught, even though I had the camera in my hand.

Check out this lowered 1979 Ford LTD!!! When was the last time you saw one of this with something done to it? Most of the times I see them, they are abandoned on the street or are pieces of rust barely running.

1979 Ford LTD por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

I know this isn't in the best of shapes either, the paint is fading bad and it has a couple of questionable details, but come on.

1979 Ford LTD por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

Here it is leaving. I really liked how it looks. Heck I even liked the wheels.

1979 Ford LTD por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

Here we have a very mexican VW Safari, or Thing -or Type 181- for everyone else, abandoned in the street and used as a storage unit, lol. These things should enjoy inmmunity from abandonement and be in a high pedestal in Mexico just for their part in Mexico's car history, but alas, they're in a collector black hole. Nobody seems to really pay attention to them.

Though sometimes you'll still find them running and in decent condition, but they're few and far between.

So-common-it-hurts 1973 Valiant duster in the rain. I really took this one because oft he wheels it has, I have always liked those.

Check out this very awesome, Fusch-shod Karmann Ghia!!! a late model (1970-onwards), which you can distinguish because of the big turnsignals...

1970? VW Karmann Ghia por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

And the big-ass taillamps in the rear. Previous models had these details in a much smaller, discrete fashion. Alas, it still looks awesome. Check out those fat rear wheels.

Here it is in motion. He might have been friends with the guy in the lowered LTD because now that I see the pics, it's the same place and the same day. Sorry, these are some months old, I don't remember.

Coming back from a photoshoot, we were bein' followed by this beauty:

Mercedes Benz 280SL "Pagoda" por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

I really nailed it in this picture. What a perfectly restored "Pagoda".

Mercedes Benz 280SL "Pagoda" por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

It had out-of-state classic car plates, from Jalisco. I had the chance to follow it...

Mercedes Benz 280SL "Pagoda" por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

Until it was gone. Rear view. These are very rare here. I don't know if they were ever officially sold in Mexico, but if they did, it must have been an special-order-only car, and very, VERY expensive.

Mercedes Benz 280SL "Pagoda" por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

A less rare Mercedes, but still rare here because I know for sure these were never sold in here, a big-ass 280S in gold, shoed by the requisite old couple:

Mercedes Benz 280s por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

This thing was also pretty much pristine, and wearing classic car plates:

The high ISO capacity of the T2i (6200 here) allowed me to take this pretty decent shot of this cool 1970 (I think) Renault 8 in a pretty obscure enviroment, handheld. Hey, I'm not Rue and his perfect pulse.

1970 Renault 8 por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

Car was in great shape and had a couple cool details like the twin racing stripe and the aluminum Gotti wheels. At least I think they are Gottis.

We finish this post with the traditional rice, but not in a traditional car. This poor 1973 Nova should have had a better destiny. Check out the horrible lower front valance and sideskirts, and the freaking wrong 1970 mexican Super Bee hoodscoops. Those things alone are worth a pretty penny in mexican Mopar circles now, but nooo, this guy has dem in his piece-of-trash Nova.

1973 Chevrolet Nova ricer por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

By the same account, check out the horrible videogame wing and the equally stupid lower extension... and yes, it's a 6-cylinder car. No V8 Novas were ever sold in Mexico. Do you think the owner of this piece of trash would go to such lenghts? lol.

1973 Chevrolet Nova ricer por AAU-Mexico, en Flickr

Less horrible but not less questionable, this poor VW Bug. Yeah, I know it has a decent stance and all but come on, it has so many questionable details I don't even know where to begin.

Same story in the rear:

And here we go, people. More on the way.

Also, typed this entire post with one of my dogs in my lap. NOT EASY.

Today I saw 3 Porsche speedsters:
379133_10150464431051618_706121617_8940291_943920910_n.jpg

Over $500k right there, I also saw a 458, 2 gt3rs, a boss 302 laguna seca among some other things but those are a bit common compared to the porsches

Really? No. 1st, none of those are "speedsters", just cabrios. The old one in the back is cool, but the others are pretty common. And all in a showroom, not for this thread. And GT3 RS's beat at least two of the ones in that shot, and a boss 302 laguna seca beats anything else you've mentioned so far...:odd:

And Cano, nice job keepin' it old school! Great shots! Love your knowledge of wheels!

That's awesome to see all three together. Speaking of Speedsters, I happened to see one today in NYC at Manhattan Motorcars. I will be putting those pics up in the Showroom thread in the morning as I'm to tired to do it now.

That 997 is a Speedster model & I wouldn't be surprised if that 356 is as well.
And he has a point. GT3 RS & Boss 302's are a bit more common than Speedsters.

Edit* I think you owe him an apology. They are all Speedsters.

My bad. And ignorance. Just thought they were cabs. And so didn't realize they were more uncommon than GT3 RS or Boss Lagunas. Porsche cabs are pretty common, but I've never seen a Laguna Seca, and only a couple GT3 RS's. So sorry about harshing on that. Still looks like a showroom though...

Cream Convertible is a Daimler Conquest. ;)

It could also be a Lanchester 14? I noticed alot of the daimlers had a chrome strip on the rear near the boot lid handle. Except a 1:43 model didn't. Either way there basically the same car. Daimler bought lanchester and used the body. Very limited info and pics of the lanchester. Richard Hammond used one in a Topgear episode. The Black one below was the one Hammond used.

I'll be uploading a few pictures tomorrow, including a Lime Green Mitsubishi i-Miev. Spot of the year?

Today, while my wife and I were out running around, I was able to catch these beauties.
