This is a special one, not really because of the car itself but because of the very special provenance. This car is a 1973 Porsche 911 T Targa and it belongs to the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf.
He is an honorary member of Porsche Club Sweden, and holds the iconic PCS member number 1.
What makes this even more special is that this is the actual car in which the king was photographed for the first time together with Silvia, who would later become his future wife, and future queen of Sweden. Nobody knew of their relationship before this picture.
It was later sold and eventually ended up in Japan. Years passed and some friends of the King managed to find this car, bought it and gave it to the king as a surprise gift for his 60th birthday, quite the birthday gift if you ask me, which is now 20 years ago.
Because of the export/import, the car has different plates today than when he owned it the first time, but it is the same car.
Note the hideous headlight wipers, an extremely ugly but somewhat cool feature that unfortunately(?) was removed, as it did not exist on the car today. It was actually swedish law at the time that every car had to have headlight wipers.
Seeing this car for real was very special, at least for a swedish Porsche nerd like me, and it really is an iconic car with some historic significance.
