Besides, they never have more than a gallon or two of gas in them anyway.

So, more than enough to get to the nearest gas station out of town?

**************************

Normally I save the best for last, but since the last post included some rather foolish comments, I figured I'd rectify it as soon as possible.

Plymouth Barracuda 426 Hemi 1971

It was there again, and for once I had no qualms about driving right up to something and taking the picture right then and there. On-lookers be damned. If it's been restored, it's first-rate. If it's been preserved, it's just perfect. And, as has been said before, it looks like the real thing.

Now back to your regularly-scheduled HT post:

BMW 128Ci

First 1-Series I've seen. Thought it might be a while before I saw another one. It was less than 45 seconds. Same model, different color. Oh well. Still considering a 135i. Dumb move, yes?

Ferrari 328 GTS

When I finally get to buying a Ferrari, I think this will be my first one. Or a 308; can't go wrong with whatever Magnum drove. Figure anything after that will be a dream to live with.

Ferrari 550M

Hiding in an obscure part of the parking lot, but that red against the green hedges? Didn't stand a chance.

Ducati <unknown>

At dusk, my camera likes to go to sleep at dusk. Case in point. If there's just not enough light, it overrides manual mode, extends the exposure, and produces crap like this. Note to Canon: manual means manual, not manual-when-you-feel-like-it. In any event, I would love to know the model of this. If someone can decipher the fuzziness.

MV Agusta <unknown>

See? Taken just before dusk, and just up the block. Never seen an MVA on the road, and would love to know what model this is, too.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT

Believe it or not, it's the first one I've seen on the road, and it was just around the corner from....

Ford Mustang GT/CS

...the first GT/CS I've seen on the road. Are they all convertibles? Neat little...graphics package....

Ford GT

Distinctly not a graphics package. If it was, I'd add it to my Subaru. Can't go wrong with the proper use of the letters 'G' and 'T'.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8

What price fuel?

Lexus IS300 Sportcross

This should have been the red flag that told us future Lexus models may not always be the most attractive.

Lexus IS-F

Case in point. First IS-F I've seen, last one I'll spend more than a second looking at.

Maserati Gran Turismo

Counterpoint: I really like the way this looks, even if it's being driven by a total fool. Most people like the way this looks. I can see how some may not like it, but I enjoy looking at it.

Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG

Not a bad car, just not a great one. Clearly the middle step between the C32 and C63 (which is out, I just couldn't get the photo to prove it).

Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG

Previously, I was 'done' with E55's. Now I'm done with E63's. I need more obscure Mercedes'.

Porsche 911 C4S Cabriolet

I know there's just about every combination of 911 under the sun, but was there ever a C4S Cabriolet? It could just be aftermarket bodywork, but still....

Subaru Impreza WRX STi Limited

For something that was apparently limited to 800 total, there's quite a few of them around. I see them more than any model Ferrari (not counting the one 308 that keeps coming by the Irish bar near me).

EDIT: Duh. Totally missed a major sighting (for me).

Audi RS4 Cabriolet

In Imola Yellow, this thing is hard to miss, but I managed to do it three times before. Never had a clear shot. The only cabriolet I've seen or heard of. How many were sold? It can't be many. Were any estate/wagons even sold?

Ugh. Me and my memory. Haven't been on speaking terms since we were 5.

Would you take a stolen Viper to a gas station?

Absolutely. If it's sitting outside already, you're not likely to set off the alarm. It's fast enough to cruise out of town, and what local gas jockey's going to notice that it's stolen? He'd be too busy with the cell phone camera, if he even looks up from the paper at all. As long as it's not in New Jersey, you can pump gas really quick.

At least enough to get you to the next gas station.

Or you could just flatbed the thing. It is sitting outside... :dunce:

Ford Mustang GT/CS

...the first GT/CS I've seen on the road. Are they all convertibles? Neat little...graphics package....

Nope, I saw a coupe recently:

CS stands for California Special, if you didn't know (one of many old Mustang badges Ford has resurrected). I told you that story to tell you this one. I saw its Coloradoan sister, the High Country Special a couple years ago - I haven' seen anything worthwhile in the last couple days, so here's a couple old show pics:

Yes there was a 996 C4S Cabriolet, ridiculously. And yes I agree re: manual mode. Here's a tip - when photographing a still object at dusk, turn the camera from "single shot" to "continuous" and then just hold the shutter down. Usually that doesn't give the camera enough time to mess up the shot and on about the fourth photo, you'll get one that's perfectly clear and well-focused. Nearly all of my early evening shots are taken this way. Best wishes and thanks as always for the photos :)

Brill photos Exigeracer!

Good spots as usual Harry - I'm afraid today my camera was giving me low-light gip too.

My afternoon wandering round the most exclusive area of Hong Kong where rent climbs to US$35k per month revealed almost nothing special. All the rich people here seem to be driving big black Japanese MPVs. Yawn... Not even one Ferrari. I always see Ferraris.

I also saw one of these today, exactly as pictured below. 997 Gemballa GT Turbo 550. Infuriatingly enough the angle from the window of the bus meant I couldn't get any kind of shot. I always have bad luck with photographing really cool Porsches.

Hey Rue! Nice shot on the C63 and I loved that shot of the Conti GT on the temp tire. Thanks for making an exception to your (and my) no Conti GTs rule - that one was definitely worth it!

Serge that Porsche is not a Targa but rather a Cabriolet. Targa refers to models with a fixed roof made entirely of glass:

I thought I saw a Targa badge on that last Porsche that I posted.

Friday.

My first Morgan.

Original photo.

No pics,but I also saw a SL55 AMG and a Jaguar XF.

Dude, how can you be so unsensible? it is a Hemi' Cuda and you didn't even get off your car? I'd sleep alogside if I could. the car has been restored and very well indeeed, I say this because, if it was original, it would have been on every magazine and I have not seen it... and it IS a real Hemi'Cuda, Shaker hood and all! rally wheels, horkey stripe, plum crazy colour... , how could you not see if it was a 4-speed?

ok, enough; onto some more cars from me:

A 1928 Ford Model A 4-door I found in an abandoned building's parking lot, just sitting there; I wish I could have it, instant hot rod.

A VW Caddy, believe it or not these things were never sold here so they are kind a spot.

Trash truck, come on, check out the Adidas mirrors!
trash-1.jpg

why is there a badge on the front of the trash truck saying 'Motor design (or is that diesel, hard to see), Mercedes Benz', is that really a chevy, did mercedes actually design an engine for them, did they borrow it or is it a badge job..?

And if you look at the bumper it says Adictos, presumably because the Adidas symbol looks somewhat life a marijuana leaf...

Woah, ok that guys got a serious identity problem, just noticed the huge GMC letters on the bonnet shield guard...
ha!, if im not mistaken theres also a Honda badge stuck on the front of the Chevrolet Bowtie!

Today I saw my third 1-series, got a pic, an ML63, got a pic, my first 'new' SL350, looked alrite, and a Bentley Continental GT. Can't be bothered uploading pics, unless anyone wants them that is.

IMO it's cool to see so much American iron in another country, even more so to see how ridiculous or tattered some of them are, just my .02...

It does not bother me either, as I find some of them interesting, especially since Cano sometimes has a bit of a story behind some of the cars.

It's Mexico, so it's not that weird. I'd go as far as to say that Mexico probably has more old broken American iron than any other country except for the US itself.

I can see how they might be interesting, but not really "good" spots. It's some old piece of junk that was never that great new, and isn't in any better shape now, not to mention it just shows the work of someone who doesn't take care of their car.

I don't see it.

Was in the city yesterday, saw 4 or 5 Smart Fortwos, and a 135i. The 1er actually looks pretty ok in that copperish color.

+1

I think it's awesome insight into the Mexican culture. Americans have a TON of stereotypes about Mexico, some true, some not, and it's VERY cool to see actual photos from there. I don't care whether it's a CLS63 or a beat-up old Volkswagen Beetle - it's nice to see the images. In fact I'd love some general city shots to get a better grasp of the area!
