I think Russia has got to be the most interesting place for automotive culture out of anywhere in the world, just the sheer random nature of that post by Rage Racer is awesome.

That's what I was thinking. Best post here for a while, though partly because it's the first post from Moscow... Though we do have Madertus in Poland, not sure how different cars are between them.

Quite rare versions of common models:

Audi A8L W12 - Jeff Gordon told me the car is heavy. For its weight it had a very impressive acceleration.

VW Tiguan Abt VS4 (VS = Volkswagen Sportiv + number of cylinders)

FiatPunto_Collins_5-16-13.png

Fiat Punto. I saw a Panda on the freeway a while back as well, I didn't know they sold anything but the 500 here yet.

Beetle_Collins_5-16-13.png

Beetle from local Covenant Tattoo. Shoulda shot the done-up ambulance they had parked in front of it...

Thanks :)
Yeah, it might be so - there's a nice mix of European and Japanese automotive cultures, and tuning tendencies like stance, hellaflush etc. are getting popular here nowadays. The JDM culture is popular for a long time already - we have no problems with importing original JDM cars, so Japanese tuning culture is common there. Some Russian cars (and Soviet classics) have been tuned with the way inspired by world's popular styles (like Resto Cal or Rat look style).
However, American cars, especially classics, are rare. That's why I posted that '87 Caprice, probably common car in US. I've seen a number of '92-generation Caprices in Moscow, but this was the first of '87-gen I've seen.

Here my older photos you might like:

Ford Crown Victoria 347. A nice American classic, I don't know if it's very common in USA or not, but it's a real exotic in my area. There are also Camaro SS and Dodge Challenger SRT-8 on the background.

Some kind of Oldsmobile (I don't know the model). That was really surprising.

Cool pics Rage Racer 👍 As others have pointed out, its nice to get an injections of other motoring cultures every so often.

They don't. The plate looks a little unfamiliar so I'd guess it's visiting from Mexico. Neat spot. 👍

My god it was such a poor week for spotting , it was so horrible I even had to take a picture of a Porsche Cayenne :yuck: just to get something .....

That's an A-Class, I saw one on the road the other day, liked the look of it too.

Missed more shots than I got over the past few days, which have been lovely here in Cleveland, Ohio. Honestly have been really surprised with how much has been out during the week. Nothing great, but a lot of classics. The one I missed which pains me the most was an unbelievable rat rod, long and low and rusty, just beautiful.

But here's what I got.

GranTurismo

GT500

Fisker on a semi, I think there was a Bentley in the front spot of the lower deck...

Malibu

ZL1, are these becoming more common? I've seen three in the past month now.

Buick Regal Grand National

Love the look of the new F13 6-series coupe. M badge on this one probably doesn't mean much , but it still looks nice.

Mark III Supra

haven't seen a Mazdaspeed3 in this color before...

And I probably need a new camera after two years spotting with it and dropping it a few times too often. Has gotten really slow and doesn't focus as well as it used to I feel... any suggestions for a fast, cheap pocket digi?

I need to move to the UK or EU somewhere...

:D With me it's the opposite, i would like to come over to USA and do some car spotting. Hardly ever see anything american over here, and if i do it's usually a new camaro or mustang.

Interesting point actually, I've always found some US cars much more common than others here. As a kid I saw a fair few 70s Camaros and Trans-Ams (the "Bandit" generation) and one or two later Firebirds (KITT-style) and Fieros. Plus the odd but quite random big boxy car from the same kind of era.

Nowadays, it's mostly newish Mustangs, Camaros and Corvettes but probably because these were available from dealerships here (not sure if they still are?). Of the classics, I seem to see more Mustangs than anything.

Oh yeah nice avatar mp10, I like Kavinsky and pretty much anything Ed Banger and related =)

Your Oldsmobile is 1939 model, pretty rare anywhere. Cool stuff.

Thanks for the hint. :)

Here go some more though:

Lancer Evo IV near the university which I go to. (This photo is old, but I still see this car often.)

Here come Soviet classics spotted recently by me on streets:
A lowrider 1978 GAZ 24 Volga with awesome wheels (oh, I just sighted that lifted Mitsubishi L200 on the background :dopey:)! 24 Volga itself isn't rare, but this one is nicely modified.

1962 GAZ 13 Chaika - a legendary limousine. With that Jeep standing near, you can notice the size of this car. Most Chaikas were originally black, so this was most likely repainted. Also, the right mirror isn't stock.

1955 GAZ M20V Pobieda in great condtion. The two-tone painting looks nice, too.

1953 GAZ 69 passing by (it's not 69A like posted before, this is a 2-door army version).
y_c69dc436.jpg

1975 ZAZ 968A Zaporozhets (nothing special about it, but the condtition is respectable). The driver placed a spare tire on the roof probably to save space of this car's trunk  (Zapor has a rear-mounted engine, so its trunk is in front and very small).

Camo-painted GAZ 66 "Shishiga" military truck. However, the licence plates are civilian, so this one doesn't belong to Army. Notice the light covers by the way...

Cool! 👍
That's the kind of American cars I'd like to see in my city... or maybe come to US to see them...

However, I remember a Cobra driving around near my house (and roaring its engine, it was great!), a long time ago... But unfortunately, I didn't have any camera or phone to take a picture of it. :guilty:

I think the first American car i saw was a '72 Pontiac Firebird and since then I've loved old American cars.

Avatar's from the Outrun album art, some nice tracks in there too. 👍

Ford Mustang GT with wing and a nice plate, too.

(Blurry spot on bumper (left side) due to my dirty window, damn insects...)

Didn't get a pic of it but I saw a nice black maserati quattroporte going the other way that I was driving, still nice to see one.

That's a 70's model. It's hard to pinpoint the exact year but those are known as "Super Beetles."
