what's that? =)
Hi gt planet guys

I wanted to know if any physics or behaviours of the car or the track are different in online-gaming then in A-Spec?

I came from a 90 laps A-Spec Race at Laguna Seca with my favorite car, the new Camaro, fully tuned and adjusted to my preferences.

i absolved the 90 laps and learned how the car reacts, with new tires and used tires and all that stuff. I really automated my driving and could drive the same laptimes over and over again.

Then: after that i startet an online-session to race laguna seca with my friend, with the same car. i haven't changed any settings (except oil change, motor revision and rigidity revision or how that calls in english). The car felt completely different! I spun out on several points of the track like there was absolutely no grip. I double checked all the settings and couldn't find any difference.

So, again, are the physics in online gaming any different???
Or was that only the oil change and other revisions?? But on one point at the track a fairly give any throttle and spun out easily. So the few KW more on rear axle could not be the issue.

Thank you very much
Oliver

Yes, sadly physics change throughout any mode in GT5. Online is supposedly the most realistic of them.

There you have it. If you want to make a true comparison between online and offline, you can't change anything with the car. Just the oil change alone may have given enough of a HP boost to your Camaro to make it perform differently.
Try the test again.

It's nothing to do with changing anything mate, the physics are totally differant to offline aspec, I set all my cars up in my online lobby so they handle online, if I take same car with same settings offline it drives like a pig and vice versa if the car is set up offline in practice mode.

I couldn't believe that the most important thing, the physics, are different to any mode in a game...

what the hell kaz or PD was thinking about when they did this?? :dopey:

Thanks alot guys, now i know it at least.

Totally agree, it makes no sence to me at all?....

when you most often play offline, and then go online just for a race or two, then it's totally annoying to retune all your settings befor starting the race.

IMO this game is enough setting-relevant without having to deal with different physics for same track and car. Just think about weather, tire-usage and all that stuff itself.

but ok, since the specII you can save different settings for each car. now i know for what i will use this feature!

anybody knows what is different exactely? Grip level? G-Forces? Weight? Anything else?
What to tune different on- and off-line? Something to start with?

Thanks!

My theory, it's a bit of a wild one, is that there's a different gravity setting online, which is why the "jump" tracks don't work as well online as they do offline. Most notably is that they seem to fly "flat" when online, whereas offline the cars will sometimes flip or pitch and roll.

A couple of differences are that cars don't jump as high as they do offline, you can't roll your car online, and offline laptimes are slightly faster.
