Except the UK plate is bull**** - no way that car's that old (W-suffix). There was a different UK plate number etched into the rear window which I believe is correct (L-prefix).

Actually mini's finished production in 2000 so it could quite possibly be a 2000 reg.

And its a 'W' prefix on that plate.

I don't get why people doubt me still. J-suffix, not W - my mistake. My point is, it's still way too old. You can see from this side view the car is fitting of the L-plate that I believe it is.

Why is that? I've seen a few, and most likely will again. One parks near my house every now and then.

A W12 or a V8? For the record, as far as I know the only way to tell them apart externally is checking the badge. Only about eight percent of Phaetons are twelve-cylinder models, too. I've seen maybe 20 Phaetons, and just the one W12. You're likely seeing a V8.

I think you're right. I remember discussing the VW W12 powerplant with my brother, who is very un-car oriented (he like Volks, that's about it) so maybe the subject matter arose from seeing a Phaeton with the W12 badging.

Or maybe not, who knows. Next time I see any Phaetons I'll be sure to check the badging.

Fae-tin
-or-
Fae-tawe-n

Fay - e - tin :)

And

Too - are - egg

I refuse to say

"Fay - a - tin" or "Fae - tin" or "Twar - egg". Those are all stupid pronunciations, like something Sage might say.

I say Fay-tawe-n cause it sounds like some ray gun from a cartoon show or an early episode of Star Trek.

Too are egg I've got down (eventhough Renault had a car named just that a few years ago).

I tailed a Phaeton yesterday until I eventually caught up to him in my mom's Escort. No badging, presuming it is a V8 (they don't use the W8?).

Nah - the W8 is **** and it can't put down anywhere near enough power for the Phaeton. I'm on vacation so I haven't got any of my sources with me, but I believe the Phaeton's V8 puts out about 320 horsepower, and I know the W8, when it was in the Passat, only put out 270. The V8 used in the Phaeton is the same 4.2-liter V8 used in the Volkswagen Touareg and many Audis including two generations of A6 and A8, the Allroad, the 2002-2003 S6, and the 2003-_ S4.

Some pictures from my Florida vacation:

Ungodly creatures

And some pictures I never did share (taken last week):

Ferrari F355 Spider - I accidentally got lost and accidentally went into valet parking and there just happened to be a Ferrari there - what a coincidence!

2006 Chevrolet Corvette convertible - I'm not sure why I like this picture so much, but I do.

Chevrolet Corvette Z06

BMW Z8 - or, more appropriately, two of them - in the same picture. When was the last time you saw this, outside of a BMW dealer or a show? I think it's a pretty unbelievable coincidence.

A nice on-the-road look at the Ferrari F430 which, though beautiful, is no 360 Modena.

A laughably bad picture of a Ferrari 550M.

Nissan X-Trail - this vehicle is not sold in the United States and had Mexican plates in Colorado; the previous day I saw a different one with Ontario plates in Florida, they are the first two I've ever seen

Rarest car here, by very very far.

Nice pics, doug. You seriously need a better digital camera, though. :). I need to start taking mine everywhere. The only picture I've gotten in the last week is of an E55.

C6 Convertible is nice.

About the Phaeton.
I didn't know it was also a V8. I thought they were all W12s and why they were so expensive.

Hmm. I'll have to check out a VW dealer next time I see one, and see if there are any V8 models. Phaeton I saw was a W12.

What the hell? - I believe this is a C5 Corvette with a bunch of body modifications designed to make it look sort of like a '53. The license plate says "RETRO53". I personally think it's absurd.

Told ya

Wow, that Vette is a monstrosity. It is the demented love child of a '53 and a C5 vette. Sort of like doing it with your grandmother I guess...

And I never even knew there was a 3000GT Spyder!

I agree totally - when I came around later, the owner was standing around it with a group of people eyeing it. I was thinking, "Dude, it's nothing to be proud of..."

And I never even knew there was a 3000GT Spyder!

It debuted for the 1995 model year and lasted all the way until 1996. There are some pretty special things about it. For one, it's got the first retractable hardtop, ever. For two, it's the only AWD retractable hardtop, ever. For three, it's the most expensive non-premium Japanese car, ever (in 1996 the VR-4 Spyder listed at $65700 - the most expensive Mitsubishi, ever). The best part is production numbers: about 2000 VR-4 Spyders, and about 800 SL Spyders, making it one of the very, very few cars where the 'base' model is rarer than the performance model.

I've seen two in my life, aside from the one I looked at when I was looking at purchasing one.

Dodge Viper GTS ACR

:D

Maserati Spyder - I don't know why I take pictures of these; this and the Bentley Continental GT should form a club called "unbelievably common." The Toyota Camry would attempt to join, but wouldn't be allowed to because compared to the Maserati and Bentley, it's too rare.

Is he parked on the sidewalk? :odd:

All the cars in those shots are in valet parking - that's how I was able to photograph the DB7 V12 and the Viper GTS ACR together. In that particular valet zone, they park the 'special' cars on the sidewalk because the street is too narrow to park cars on. Last night they had a Bentley Turbo R on that sidewalk, but those are even more common than the damn Maserati and I didn't even bother with a picture.

Sorry, bud, but you're 40 years too late:

Nah, first ever.

Where the hell's my production figure on the ACR?
You're the most monomanical person I know. You're quite mad sometimes. Though you're tangentially correct - it was actually only 37 years, not 40. I can see how that qualifies as "evAr".

I'll see what I can find on the Viper ACR.

Did you know that the single most eloquent person I've ever met on the Internet turned down a car because it didn't have driver seat memory?

McLaren F1GTR
And the new wheels for the Range Rover are great!

Range Rover Sport - different, slightly. It's a bit smaller. I'll try to get a shot of a new '06 Range Rover tomorrow though (I actually think it does use those wheels). I've seen a few including one or two supercharged ones.

My Neon is one of 350 Dodge and Plymouth ACR sedans made in 1995. I'd estimate maybe 30% of those were Plymouths, meaning my car is 1 of about 100.

The '06 sports, aren't they based on that Storm concept?
I heard that Land Rover was basing some Range Rover on it.

I didn't buy anything else, yet... I'll have the family in before I dismiss it completely. But thank you for the complement, humbly accepted. I meant "monomaniacal" in the best possible sense, of course.
