Graphics are definitely good. All the lighting and car damage was pretty well done.

Just the physics are quite poor. You turn the car, you turn. You brake, you slow down. It's boring and there's nothing telling you how much you can push the car - it's almost Arcade-like, not what the series is supposed to be like.

The Colin McRae series has never been realistic.

It's true.

The demo feels just like one Colin McRae game I rented for the PS2 a long time ago. I'm actually a big fan of the arcade gameplay. Can't wait to get the game! Online multiplayer should be fun.

I played the PC demo for a bit yesterday and came to the conclusion that it is impossible to do well using the keyboard. It's fun, though. I killed the Lancer quite quickly.

We are really looking forward to Dirt in a couple weeks. My only problem is that I am still completely addicted to Forza 2 with no sign of it getting boring any time soon. I still have at least 15 more car designs to do which will easily take over another month of work. :dopey:

I don't think I'll consider DiRT anymore because of its unchanged physics and crap framerate. It's a shame.

Agreed. If I ever get it, it'll be a rental through GameFly (assuming I subscribe).

I finally had a change to play Dirt for a good solid 3 hours last night. First I want to say that I loved the demo and put at least 6-7 hours into it so I was really looking forward to the final version. I hardly played the Forza 2 demo at all but I knew the final game would be very fun. Right away I went online to see how this multiplayer was. I ended up in a room with about 22 people and my gf ended up in the room too so that was good news which means its fairly easy to find friends. The race starts and right away you can tell the game is arcade handling. Not even anything to argure about. Its an arcade game which is fine and I knew that from the demo. Also from what I saw the graphics were no where near as good as Forza 2 online and definetly only ran around 30fps. So after a few minutes I got used to the handling and started enjoying the game. Glancing over every couple seconds to see what place I am in. In the upper right it lets you know who is in first and the other players around you by listing their names and their position. The whole race is very intense and exciting and you just get used to the arcade feel. Once that room ended the most players I ever saw in any room was 11-12 and I played at least 10-15 games. Hopefully this weekend more people will be on to get some bigger rooms. It also seemed that there were only around 6 maps to play online for the hill climb/rally.

So I just decided to play the single player for a while to see if the graphics would get better or if the arcade feel would be toned down. It didnt feel as much like an arcade game and the graphics were a little better in the single player but still no where near as good as Forza 2.

So my overall conclusion from playing around 2 hours online and one hour in the single player is that this game is not better than Forza 2 IMO. Its still a great game and I recommend everyone at least rent it, but it still hasnt brought back that feeling of playing Rallisport Challenge 2. It has more of a Toca 3 feel to it which makes sense because its Codemasters. It definetly doesnt have the content, graphics, or replay value of Forza 2.

Well that sounds good. It's next in line on my GameQ at Gamefly. :D

GRAW2 and Dead Rising are on their way right now.

I think comparing it to Forza 2 in every category is a setup for disappointment. But there's nothing wrong with that. I agree with Duck on the unchanged physics and graphics over gameplay route they took. The cars turn just as they did in CMR2.0,3,04,05.....

Yeah the cars seem to tun on some sort of center axis as I stated above. Basically meaning you can turn much later in a corner and much faster. Like I said above its a good arcade rally game but no where near as good as Rallisport Challenge 2. That was still the best rally game I ever played to this day. And thats the experience I was hoping to get with Dirt but it just didnt happen.

Hello folks, I just bought the game yesterday. Quite fun, and the graphics and damage are awesome! 👍

I just wanted to know, how to you come about unlocking The Group B cars?

Thanks. :)

Just progress through the career mode, you'll eventually do races where you can buy them and that's how you unlock them. I've got near the end now. I've opened up all the Pikes Peak unlimited cars, which are quick but not as mental as I expected. Probably for the best though.

I beat the campaign over the weekend which means I had about 8 hours total into the campain. I dont know if I feel like doing the championships or not but thats all I have left. You dont get anything besides achievements for doing the championships and I dont know how much longer I want to play this game.
