Well, I watched the in-game trailer, and I'm not impressed. For all I know, it could've been a bad capture or compression or something, since it looks like an upscaled Xbox game, but still...

I was so excited from the CGI trailer the in-game footage kinda left me wondering why the cars move no different than the did in Colin McRae 05. Also you can see the frame rate dips below 30. Its was a buzz kill after seeing the CGI trailer.

The video was clearly the 360 version seeing how dark all the dark parts are. I'll still get it regardless of the frame rate it could get a lot better in 4 months.

I assume there will be multiplayer online and split screen (that was a mistake with Motorstorm).
I haven't heard anything about split-screen mode yet, but since DiRT is supposed to be a rally game, multi-player on-line has been played down in the game. Details are still sketchy, but as far as I've been able to determine, DiRT's on-line mode will be something like ToCA's qualification mode, with everyone running for best times.

It's not the way most people would want it, though.

Cheers,

MasterGT

Not all of the races in DiRT are timed stages, theres plenty of races for postion. I can't imagine that thoes would become timed races online.

Just seen this thread, i have all the previous colin mcrae games and i am looking forward to this one!:D

(sorry for randomness)

Gametrailers.com have a couple of new in-game videos of Dirt in action.

http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=4609

One of a buggy race on a dirt track and one of an Scooby on what looks like a super-special, despite the appalling driving on display and dark nature of the videos (I strongly recommend going for the larger HD versions) its starting to look quite promising.

Regards

The buggy video felt kinda ho hum. :indiff: I did like the Impreza clip. The sand flying out of the barrier was a great touch. I also like the track style. It was narrow, short straits, quick turns. Those make for fun, blood pumping racing.

Once you've seen deformable terrain anything less seems soo last gen.

Guessing you (DWA) has never played Motor Storm? I would not doubt CM:Dirt having more depth than Motor Storm but it doesn't seem to have that fun factor MS does with its wild courses , multiple paths and gameplay, cool physics that work well for it.

I've played Motor Storm, but I found it's gameplay limited by the driving physics. It seemed as though they were just too unrealistic for me too enjoy. Plus the PS3 controller's new L2/R2 buttons are kind of quirky to deal with.

Usually, I'd never play 2 different types of Racing / Driving games Simultaneously (Arcade and Sim, as it usually means I start getting used to the arcade-ish controls and screw up my Sim-Racer Driving, egs Go full throttle down out of the exit of a corner and spin n ****). Even though Colin McRae Dirt seems a little like arcade. I think I'll get Forza2 and CMR : Dirt and probably play them simultaneously. As Dirt focusses only OFF Road, I'll hope it doesnt contradict Forza too much.. Although cant wait for both these games now.

MarketPlace DEMO, when's it gonna COME???????

I watched the Japanese hillside video. First off, the game is not finished yet. Second, I only saw once instance of tearing in that video and the only time the game looked "like a slide show" was during the replay style camera shots that you dont get when actually playing the game. It will improve before it comes out.

Take the Motorstorm demo for example. Complete absolute trash. The demo dips well below 20fps at the start and doesn't fix itsself untill at least 10 seconds later. The final game isn't like that at all. Have faith my friends!

I am also buying 2 copies of Forza 2 and 2 copies of Dirt. Dirt is just like Rallisport Challenge 2 and that was one of the best rally games I ever played. :) 👍

:double take: Thurs!? This Thurs!? Well, I know what I'll be doing!

God ****ing Damn I can't wait for this game to come out!!!! :banghead:

I recall reading somewhere that when the original game was first released in America, players thought Colin McRae was a fictional person like Lara Croft.

Good to see we're getting another installment of Colin McCrash Rally ...
