Yep, back when I was younger, raced thru 90s into early 00s on circuits and road racing, great memories.
Moto x from I was 9, started circuit and road racing at 19, worth all the arthritis!
Still waiting for the day when someone brings a good force feedback handlebar setup to market mind you... so fanatec or Logitech what you waiting on!!

I'm having a little trouble with night stages, lights are on at start, full beam. Then part way through, they go off, then come on again, making very hard to do. Do need do something?

The force feedback implementation - I've tried various recommended settings, and whilst better, it still has no feel just of center, and no real sensation of driving on different surfaces, other than shaking on rough stages... even in the original Colin McRae rally, you could feel the cars digging in to the softer gravel events (like Australia)... here the cars just seem to sit on top of the surface, whatever it is.

The standard tunes are often borderline un-driveable. Fortunately i found a load of settings on line that significantly improve the way the cars handle, but without these I would have given up long ago.

I'm in a similar place, got the game on PSN and am trying to enjoy it but it's still not quite there. The FFB just doesn't seem to have much detail and the wheel does odd things especially at low speed and grippy surfaces. Ive rarely had a wheel tug towards a sharp corner once you've turned in without some funny road camber. I just can't land on settings that give me detail but retain a light overall force, t300rs if anyone has any suggestions.

Maybe i need to look online for car setups, have been having a little play but am probably not nailing it.

To make things worse, i just had to slog through 6 stages at Argentina (including one night stage with a broken headlight)

I’m on a g29 (my t300 is in storage in the Uk). Dirt2 is at least playable with a g29 I suppose, which is more than can be said for Assetto Costa... the G29 ff dead zone was so bad I had to buy a t300

I’ve got a link on my pc to a post with settings for every car at every venue... the guy is fast. I’ll post it soon as I’m at my pc.

Thanks, i had a look and saw a YouTube video where the guy goes through a load of settings, it might be the same one.

Yeah i heard about that issue on AC. I find it really odd that certain wheels just don't work correctly on certain games on certain platforms.

They’re the ones I’m using. He has a post on the Codies site with all the videos in one place. They are pretty good, though he does like his cars with suspension on the hard side. I sometimes need to soften them a bit to get them to turn.

I tried the 6R4 McRae event in Scotland last night - wow, that’s an awesome combo. The Metro makes a fabulous noise! Even though I was a bottle and a half of wine to the good, I was still only 1.1kmh off the target speed. I’ll be going back to that today, Sober :D

Out of curiosity; which car, what was the surface degradation, and was it wet or dry?

T300 user here, and I leave everything default. Got tired of chasing wheel settings around a long time ago and I’m much the happier.

I haven’t tried any of the tunes at GTR Technical, but they seem really aggressive on paper. (But you never know until you try them I suppose..)

FWIW, my own personal takes:

4WD and FWD all feel pretty good and handle well on different conditions and locations on default tunes, but almost all the RWD default setups seem terrible with the rear constantly breaking loose.

We all have different driving styles, and I’m definitely not fast, but reducing the camber to zero and softening the rear springs on the RWDs increases stabilization on all surfaces. Tire wear also seems to be less pronounced with zero camber as well. I believe it was @fernandito that may have pointed this out.

Other than the McRae stuff, I’ve mainly driven RWD cars. Adding positive rear toe helps their stability massively... around 1.00 to 1.20.

I quite like Argentina once I get in to the rhythm.

I've give the game another go, and I finally find out why there was a dead feeling making the game almost unplayable and the physics weird
It is the default FFB setup and the lack of explications !

First thing to do is lowering self aligning torque to at least 50, and suddenly all became playable ! (this is in fact the global FFB strength)
You can leave all the rest to 100 or modulate to your personal flavor

My setup
56/100/100/105/100/100 /on / 70
Let me know what you think

The tarmac FFB is still broken, otherwise this is pretty good, but still not on par with DR1 FFB IMO
Now I'm considering buying the season pass

Im only on the H2 escort at the moment, i have driven some more modern 4wd stuff in clubs and it feels better maybe. Surface deg was on, and one stage was wet.

@kartman21
I reduced the SAT to 55, but i also had the tyre friction and suspension at 50, I'll try raising them back up. Personally i don't really like a high wheel friction effect especially for quick wheel movements, it feels like I'm going to damage something in the wheel base. Got to look after the delicate t300! I am running steering saturation at 60, zero linearity.

I've given up trying to get good tarmac FFB, i don't think the physics works great on tarmac so the FFB is always gonna struggle

@John G yes SAT is really car dependent, like Pcars 2, I've leave the saturation and linearity untouched, and it works well for me
I own my T300 for about 5 years now without a issue, I don't use heavy FFB (I find it undriveable, and it's the best way to damage your équipement), but I do like having some feedback from the cars, depending on the game ands cars it's generally between 30 to 60 max
For tarmac, well, this is the way it is, too bad, this is lacking some effect, but it could be worse :-)

I just beat the 5 stage welsh event in the McRae ‘95 Impreza (only on 75 AI)... took me a few hours of restarts, with a lot of frustration along the way.

I’m starting to see where the broader enjoyment is in this game... the Impreza at Wales, in the dark and pouring rain isn’t exactly enjoyable to drive... but the feeling you get when you’re just hanging on to the car, deciding whether to stay hard on the throttle for the coming ‘6 right over crest’, almost always on the verge of a massive accident throughout the 5 stages... to finally beat the time... it certainly gets the blood pumping

Can’t face Greece so going to move to Australia on the S4.

That sounds like a simulated dodgy electrical problem the game sometimes creates, can happen after clipping a bank or even just a hard landing.
Or sometimes the game just wants to throw up a random fault at you!

Could also be if you only do a quick fix instead of a replacement.

And if you select auto fix it would probably do just that. Keep an eye out for this @John Wells

Thanks for all help, was quite bad, in Argentina and Poland when were out.

Really strange how many are feeling the game so badly especially with a g29. For me its great right away on all surfaces and cars, after my initial ffb adjustments.
Also no deadzone like some say, i don't know, crossing my fingers that my wheel lasts a long time..

Really ? Did you have a decent FFB on tarmac ? are you playing on PS4 or PC ?
Please share your setup, so we will be able to discuss more

As career modes go, WRC8 would be the best of the bunch, especially if your on pc.
Consoles sadly are a rough 30fps if your eyes can stand that.
I find it not too bad on more open flowing stages, but the likes of Argentina or even Wales almost puts me blind.

Which in itself is odd as I can manage the 30fps of seb loeb rally without any issues, so it seems to be more of a frame pacing issue which I believe pc users also sometimes suffer.
Hopefully Kyloton can figure out next gen out of the gates pronto as good rally sim titles are thin on the ground.

Can I ask what console are you playing on ?

I wouldn't mind 30fps if it was rock solid and with good resolution / no pop ups etc. There's more to life imo than 60fps

I agree. Although I can recognise the difference between 30/60 it's never bothered me at all.

What you described above is how it runs on XB1X albeit with very occasional screen tearing, certainly less than DR2 but nothing to worry about that's for sure 👍

Uhmm, there's no tearing at all in dr2 on std ps4, it's smooth as butter, looks 60fps, clean image.
Certainly a million times better optimized than KT wrc series.
