So just a a reference point for my post earlier. This is the road to and from my house, a cross between Poland and Australia. I actually live in the woods, but I stopped on the way out to take these pics. The ffb in the game is pretty close to what I feel when I am hauling ass down these roads.

I hope you didn't really drive 180kph+ to make a comparison. But if you didn't, it kinds invalidates it :D

Haven’t got to stage rally yet but as a three time THSCC rallyX champion (06 WRX swapped 95 Impreza L in profile pic) I can say I know what they were going for even though I sometimes wish it was a little heavier.

However, when you’re in the grove and setting a good pace the FFB reminds me of all the good driving sensations you feel when pushing the limits off tarmac. How you can let the wheel slide through your hands, the way it feels when you throw your car into a corner sideways, even surface transitions, and The response you get when testing front traction before diving into a turn. Does it replicate the real thing exactly, no but that would be impossible anyways.

When I get in the zone and drive the car how t should be driven the FFB sometimes brings a smile to my face and I say damn, that brings me back to the real thing. Another reason I love this game, I’m sitting this season out with a blown engine. It’s going to be a little while before I can rebuild it since I’m getting married next month but this game is the best I’ve got for now and I’m more than happy with it and the FFB!!!!!

Figured I'd add that when you're driving 70-75mph on dirt or gravel (which is as fast as I've been on a rally course) you don't feel every little rock or bump, especially with a rally specific suspension which has more travel and designed to soak up all the little stuff. Going that fast flying sideways past trees doesn't give you time to think about all the little bumps and terrain so you really don't even notice it. If you consciously think about how to react its too late, you almost have to drive at a subconscious level and train your muscle memory to automatically react to a situation before you have time to process it. That is what the game is trying to recreate. I can imagine it being difficult to get it if you haven't felt it in real life but the forces that come through the wheel are pretty comparable to the real thing, though weaker than you would feel in real life and leaves out things you don't notice anyway. I'm sure it'll be improved further over time but for those complaining and getting upset about it, you just don't know what you're supposed to be feeling.......... Its a game, an awesome game but just a game, just have to keep that in mind........

Completely agree, from my experience the faster you go the smoother the surface will feel, with hits feeling sharper. I fear many are seeking exagerated effects rather than realistic feedback.

I'd be interested to know what wheel and settings everyone is using, as I know from personal experience what driving off road is like at speed (in a range of cars), and on my T300 set-up DR2.0 is devoid of FFB.

I'm not after, or expecting exaggerated FFB from the track surface quite the opposite. However all I get is wheel weight, with only the cattle grids throwing in anything like any surface detail FFB. My T300 is quite literally not giving me a single bit of surface FFB, and particularly on the heavily degraded runs it should be.

If I compare it to SLRE, which doesn't overexagerate the surface FFB at all, I'm getting detail that is simply absent with DR2.0.

So please, rather than simply saying it works fine for you share what wheel, platform and settings you are using.

Platform is probably good to point out as well as there's been big discrepancies in FFB between PC/Ps4 on the past for example.

I've had times with my T500 on PC that the FFB feels almost dead with very little feel, but after an hour or two it's back to normal. What I've read on the subjects this is an issue with Thrustmaster wheels.

If what I feel when my wheel goes haywire like that is what Ps4 players have all the time, then I understand the frustration.

Yep, that's exact'y what I feel, almost dead.

I run a T300 with a 599 rim on a PS4 Pro and the settings affect almost nothing but wheel weight, well apart from the suspension value, which as I increase it makes the cattle grids rattle more, but has no affect on how track detail is felt at all.

I mean, when my wheel acts up(usually when it gets disconnected for some reason) it's not completely dead. I feel the forces but it seems like I just get 20% of what I get when the wheel works normally. So it feels very vague and numb without any center feel.

You have any friend with a PC/DR2 that you can try your T300 on and see if there is any difference?

Its not the T300, as it works exactly as its always done on every other title.

If I was getting issues in DR/SLRE/Dakar 18/WRC7/GTS/AC/PC2, etc then I would suspect the wheel was at issue, but its got up to date firmware and works perfectly with every title bar DR2.0

I'm on the PS Pro with the G29. I'm not saying the Ffb can't be improved either, with more surface feel, but it felt alot better for me with this setting. It is a light setting, you won't feel cattle grids as much, but I get a better sense of grip. Look forward to seeing what others are using.

I also found WRC7 had the same dead weight stock too. Loved SLRE and find DR2 handling is closer to it than Dirt Rally.

I'm basically saying the combo of PS4/T300/DR2 could be at fault. Something with the way the FFB is coded in CM games that just doesn't suit the T300/Ps4.
As far as I know there were lots of issues when the first DR got released that specifically was on consoles with Thrustmaster wheels.

It would just be interesting if you found a difference in FFB with the same wheel on a PC.

Pretty much the same settings I use on PC. Sometimes I add a touch of Tire Friction as well.

Ah right.

No-one I can test it with in that regard, but a member here may be using a T300 / PC combo, so fingers crossed we get some feedback in that regard.

I've said it before and I'm going to say it again. CM needs to develop an entirely new engine.

Here’s my settings for T300 with PS4Pro. I’m no expert on wheel setups, but I took John Armstrong’s advice and lowered wheel and tire friction. Also lowered SAT. It reduced the overall weight but when FF cars understeer in low speeds it’s still really heavy and a real arm wrestle. Probably accurate especially when negotiating slow, tight turns in rutted wet conditions. Otherwise the weight is fine at high speeds.

The road detail most want is sadly absent except for the grids. Just ran over the cobblestones at Poland and there’s no feedback at all. May as well be smooth tarmac. Though I will mention that dirt/tarmac transitions are well done. And I will say again that tarmac in general is the best in any CM title because the cars grip believably in both and wet and dry conditions and no longer slip all over the place. At least with the handful of cars I’ve driven.

I'm using the TM TS-XW Racer on xbox one x and don't have the Wheel or Tire Friction adjustments available. Anyone else on xbox missing them?

That was a loose combination. Knew I was going to have to work for it, when I got on the power too early and understeered into the first bridge. Loheac was a slippery combo too, could not believe I spun it twice. One from compression lockup out of the back sweeper and the other getting on it to early off the hairpin. Hopefully have more luck and light tomorrow.

I'm ready for slippery tarmac. The price tag on Monte Carlo will probably decide whether I will buy the Deluxe extension or just hand-pick the DLC releases I want. Anyway, Codemasters should be upfront and say what kind of theme they have planned for Season 2. They must know that part of the player base is divided over conventional rallying and rally cross, so encouraging the season pass without such transparency is not right.

FYI the guy recording pacenotes said in an interview that he recorded notes for 12 rallies. In the game there are 12 slots in custom championship. At the end of season 1 se will have 9. I expect wales, finland and Greece to be back between season 2 and 3 (if any).

My concern is that Season 2 will be all about rally cross, which doesn't interest me. If Finland, Wales and Greece then arrive in a possible Season 3, then I find little incentive to go for the Deluxe content covering the first two seasons. Unless of course the combined price for all Season 1 content will be higher than the Deluxe extension. I don't need the other extras bundled with Deluxe, and I don't want to pay more than absolutely necessary for content I've already enjoyed in the first game.

Same here

Despite popular opinions over here, I am willing to pay for Wales, Greece and Finland from DR1. 2.0 is just the better engine and having 12 locations seems just ace in many ways.
