"Dirty" Single Player Racing

What do you do in single player?

Just curious about which of these dirty things most people do.

Personally, I love ramming into other cars when appropriately timed, as to instantly slow me down from, for example, 140 mph to 40 mph.

I also love cutting corners with all 4 wheels deep in the grass, especially on places like the last few turns of Ciruit de la Sarthe and Suzuka.
 
Did you bring your troll hat to the table?
 
I ram cars when they won't move out of the way. The only time that really happens is when I'm REALLY faster than them. I only cut one corner on one track. Other than that I try to be as clean as I possibly can be.
 
I have a fun time ramming AI into pit lane sometimes lol
 
Someone in another thread mentioned that they pleasure themselves during Endurance Races. Thats pretty dirty....

I suppose I should have explained it a bit better. My brother sometimes sees me do the "dirty" activities in single player, and disapproves of my driving style. I told him that more people probably drive like myself since it is fun, and the purpose of the game is to have fun.

If I want to obey rules I can drive IRL which isn't very entertaining (probably because I have a crappy car but that's another story).
 
I don't want to create any bad habits that might come out racing real people, so I treat the a.i. as though they are other people online. Although I'll generally drive more agressively in single player, block them from passing and stuff.
 
I usually race clean but the occasional PIT maneuver is fun when someone won't let me by 💡
 
The only time i hit the AI is when they swerve in front of me.
 
If I'm progressing through the game, I do whatever it takes to make money in the least amount of time. Thankfully, I reached level 30, so I don't bother with XP anymore.

If I'm racing for fun, I go online, and drive clean.
 
Sometimes I'm going to quick into a corner, try cut it and hope to smash an AI car to get back on track.

I never purposely cut chicanes... but in Le Sarthe GT World Championship, I was 3rd by the last chicane and just jumed it (they spun me) I won by 2 seconds :D
 
All of it, screw the A.I.
This is my revenge for all the disqualifications during license test and NASCAR trials.
They drive like idiots, so I treat them as such.
 
I try to play this game as professonal as possible else you learn nothing for real life, this is a non contact sport unless you count banger raceing, thats why i dont play online, ok there is always some contact but do it by accident, not constant because you would lose your [acu] licence in real life, but thats just how i see it.......
 
I try to race them clean. Usually it is just a matter of waiting for a corner or two then just overtake them either inside or outside. There is absolutely no need to cut corners or ram them off the road.

Only in few races you need to ram into them. One is the historic monaco race where you most probably don't have fast enough car to win so you just need to get into 1st in the first turn. Or in some of the seasonal events where the few tenths or couple seconds actually matter.

Obviously racing clean with the ai is a bit of misnomer as they bump into you sometimes very hard if you have taken worse tires (need to brake earl) or less hp. Treat them as wreckers with enormous stupidity and no ego and they are pretty predictable :).

That's nice and all but GT5 really can't teach you much about HOW to drive real cars. GT5 is a video game for fun with limited learning.

Museum mode is good for learning.
And real race drivers could potentially learn information about corners on a course and the layout, but otherwise, I think the skills are non-transferable.

I disagree, I'm pretty sure GT has helped me in taking a car to the track. It's not an all in one racing shcool, but I'd seriously suggest it to someone who is not familair with track driving. They would still need real world training of course though.

That said, I would not include the AI in the above practice driving.
 
I don't ram AI cars, but sometimes I cut corners on tracks such as Monza if the AI have faster cars.
 
I drive clean, the AI are really slow anyways.
I try my best not to make any contact during overtakes too, I treat it like real life, saying that if I crash or go off, it'll be scary and hurt.
 
I'm good about not cutting corners, but I have to admit I like to trade paint. ;)
 
I try to race clean. If I have a collision it's because I block rather vigorously and others just run into me. Granted, this makes every event something out of early 90s BTCC footage.
 
I use an X2010 to get the A-Spec races over with as fast as possible, i just want to race properly online and stuff, usually i care too much about finishing the event to bother ramming A.S. cars off the road. But online, i keep it "clean" when i actually care about the race
 
I keep it clean for the most part in single player. I don't want to get used to driving dirty so when I'm online I won't resort to it out of habit! :lol: I get so nervous about driving clean online that I'm much much slower but I'd rather come last than take a chance of spinning out a real person.

If I get the good ol pit maneuver from the AI in A-Spec I do tend to forget about the race and just ram the AI off the track until I feel vindicated.. hehe!
 
To be honest, non of the two... But if I happen to brake to late, and I hit the driver in front of me, so be it. If the pressure is high, and I'm second or so, I will cut corners.

We all do. But nobody admits.

This is a Gran Turismo foum so nobody cheats and everybody drives like the book. As soon as they are on a different forum about Gran Turismo, the same people cheat, ram cars and cut corners.
 
I don't deliberately drive dirty, but I don't exactly mind ramming the AI every now and then. They've put me out of several races by absent-mindedly spinning me out by trying to jump in the boot (trunk) of my car so when I get the opportunity, I will mess them up, like once on the FGT race at Fuji, when I was testing my tune, the second place car kept getting in front of me when I made a stupid mistake like braking too early and such, so when it was coming up to the chicane (not sure how else to describe it, I think there's only one) I rammed him pretty hard... Oh my, it was satisfying to watch his name steadily drop until it was off the list.

Other than that, though, I tend to treat races like a paid time attack session, so I avoid cutting corners or using AI cars to make me go faster or doing basically anything that would invalidate my lap time in practice mode.

In Forza 3 I used to slow down in front of the AI behind me until those behind caught up and overtook us, I could get back in front no problem but he couldn't... It was fun to play around like that, but in GT5 they aren't as smart so it's not so much fun. Plus it's harder to get back in front of the AI.

This is pretty much me. The IA-10 test in where cars can DQ me by ramming into me has made me angry enough to punt the AI into the sand pit if they ever get cute at Grand Valley. Otherwise, I try to avoid cars as much as possible.
 
Grand Valley is also good if you like practicing nosing the rear corner to put an opponent into a spin.
