Disable Flashing Gear Change Indicator! *Success!*

Let's try and encourage Polyphony Digital to disable that silly flashing gear change indicator.

This thread is to raise awareness about how the flashing gear change indicator (let's call it the FGCI to make it more concise) is disliked by many and should be removed. For those who like it and would prefer it to stay, I think that it should be an option in the driving aids and could be disabled or enabled. And, yes it is considered a driving aid since it aids you in selecting the gear for corners. The annoyance isn't the fact that it recommends a gear for you but that it starts to flash like mad as the drivers car approaches a corner. This can really throw some drivers off! Also, If a driver is fatigued he or she may find him or herself using it as a braking indicator (which will cause people do brake too early even if he or she doesn't intend to do so).

So go ahead; discuss, also; feel free to comment about why you think that it should be removed!

Update:
here is the feedback forum submission link: http://feedback.gtplanet.net/forums...730171-disable-flashing-gear-change-indicator
Please help this cause by voting!

Update: Please, avoid posting any comments about how you don't care or think that it's not a big deal.

Edit: I'm very happy about this being added in update 2.02! Thanks PD & Kaz!

Just wanted to add that I prefer it to stay and the OP really should have more to worry about if he/she is complaining about something so inconsequential.

i dont mind replacing retards with mormons if you like

Dude, it's offensive. It's like saying the shortened term of the word "Japanese". It's not right, just be respectful and don't say it.

As for your "FGCI", it doesn't bother me nor do I care. I normally don't have the instrument panel on; if I have to shift, I listen to engine note and/or rpm gauge.

I agree, turning the gauges off altogether is currently the best option. Also, shifting "by ear" is a very good skill for drivers to have. The instrument panel (when instruments are disabled) can only be seen when using the interior view. It's useful for knowing your speed, rpms and most importantly what gear you are in (when using a sequential or paddle shifters. If you have have to know what gear you are in, what would you do?). It would simply be nice to have an instrument panel in all other views (only choice for standard cars) without having that useless and distracting flashing red light.

I don't think it's that bad, I don't even see how it can throw drivers off either because it tells you when to brake and what gear to change to, if you're so annoyed by it, why don't you just turn HUD off?

It's not worth PD's time nor effort, imo. Although PD has changed a few nit-picky things before, I'd rather see them put their efforts into new cars and new race tracks/events.

I vote that everyone just man the f up and stop bitching and whining about every little thing they don't like and just race. However, I agree that every setting or AID or whatever you want to call it should be optional so everyone can have it their way.

Leave the thing in there. Its not worth the work to take out and is extremely dynamic based on your suspension settings and tire wear. Also i sometimes use it to tell me when to brake about a quarter to half a second later than it goes off.

Let me re-phrase; This thread is for those who would like the option to disable the FGCI.

People are free to comment.

Either way, down with the pointless thing, there should be an option turn it off.

There was already at least one feedback vote this option though.

Eh, I don't really care, I would rather they work on other parts of the game. I never notice, or use it myself, and I'm sure a lot of other people are the same way. I mean, if it bothers you that much, you can turn off the instrumentation for now.

I dont really like turning off hud cuz then I dont know what gear I'm in.

And please dont say "put tape". Trying to keep that screen clean.

We just need deeper hud customization.
