Forza four does just this.. for the price of one hundred Twenty dollars! LOL
Little big planet takes the bag tho.. 200+ dollars for EVERYTHING!
8 monthly packs at $7 ($56 for 80 cars, though you could've had the first 60 for only $30 with the Season Pass, making the total $44), and $20 for the Porsche pack (30 cars).
Your math is off. But even then, I look at the cost-per-car, and it's better than Gt5's DLC. And that's before I take into consideration the more desirable metal in FM's DLC (though that's a personal preference).

Aye, the "dividing of community" arguement isn't well suited for the GT5 DLC. I'll admit that was poorly thought out on my part. In a game like Forza 4 where half of the cars(?) are DLC, it doesn't exactly do wonders to the community, if you want to host league racing and such.
It's less than a quarter of the current total. But you have a point, it can cause issues with leagues. FM4 does give away one free car from each month's pack (to ensure all users can see the DLC cars they're racing against), but they're usually the least-desired car in the pack
I of course can't tell people not to buy certain DLC's, though I can (and will) encourage them to think twice about doing so.
Agreed. Which is why I've only bought DLC for my racing games...
If you look at the price of the DLC's, without comparing them to anything, then sure. They're cheap. If, however, you compare the combined DLC cost with the cost of the full game, then you'll see the problem. The amount of content VS price doesn't add up.
Of course it doesn't: neither did Prologue, technically. But like many other consumer products, you're also paying the price of being an early adopter. Sure, I could save the money I spent to drive the Aventador and V12 Vantage in GT5, knowing that it's pretty much a sure thing they'll be in GT6, but considering how long that wait might be, tossing a few dollars their way to use them now was worth it. For me, anyways.
And to Bobby-Vegas. I'm not saying that everything should be free. Just that things like the Touring car DLC, that require very little work, really should be free. When adding real cars and tracks (espicially tracks) to a game, it makes sense to do so at a price, as licensing costs money.
But most of my DLC complaints aren't related to GT5. The issue is far more evident in games like LBP, Forza 4, BF3 and CoD. I miss the good 'ol days.
But your example
is GT5. I agree about the Touring Car Pack, and while I can't speak of the FPS games (never play them), FM4's DLC does involve real cars, so like you said, licensing costs money. As for LBP DLC: most of it is costume packs, small micro transaction DLC they're hoping will chip away at players wallets, but for me, as it's largely visual and offers no discernible difference to gameplay, it's different from the racing game DLC. Most new cars in the racing games do bring with them a new experience, and it a buck a pop or less, I don't think thats bad at all.
Fighting games are pretty bad for DLC too: $5 per character, and costume pack after costume pack. Racing game DLC, to me, is one of the best deals of its kind out there.
Anyway, I think we've gotten as far in the debate as possible. Thanks for the civil debate guys.
I certainly understand your point of view, FWIW 👍
