Does anyone know if it's "illegal" to display pictures taken in GT4 anywhere other than a GT4 message board (ex. a personal webpage)?

I'm not a 100% sure, but I think you can do pretty much whatever you want with your pics, as long as it can be considered "personal use".

It's like this: You've payed for GT4, your PS2 and for the device you use for transferring the shots and that gives you the right to transfer your pics onto your computer and to post them on the net. :D However, you can't use these pics for commercial reasons.

For example, I'm not allowed to start a website where I ask money to make a certain shot. (Not that I think there are people willing to pay for PhotoMode shots...)

If someone doesn't agree with this, just let me know! :)

Technically, you created the images so you have Intellectual Property rights as creator. If you take a photograph in the real world, the same applies - rights are NOT given to the owner of the land you took the photograph on, nor the manufacturer of your camera...

And I've not been sued.

Yet.

Ok, so it sounds like what I was thinking was right. Which is good. As Rohrl-fan said, "you can't use the pics for commercial reasons" aka, selling them. Yes you bought the game, but SCEA still own the rights to the graphics, etc. That's probably why it says Copyright SCEA in the bottom right corner of every pic taken. And I would think it would be a no-no to remove the copyright logo. But oh well, I'm not gonna do that and it seems that my question has been answered. Thank people.

Dude, you worry too much. Do whatever you want with the pics you take, it doesn't matter. The majority of the people here take of the GT4 watermark at the bottom.
