Which would you own? An all tricked out Oreca Viper, or an all tricked out regular viper, I'd choose the regular Viper because of more horsepower, more speed, and a better paint job (to me).

Rice Rocketeer maybe you shouldnt call other people newbies, because some of the stuff you just said is incorrect.

You can not buy an Oreca.. It must be won. And the skyline you can buy is no match for the Oreca.

Examples: It's very slow, it only has 900 horsepower, It handles like $h**, the Oreca has only 2 things going for it: 1. The paint job is awesome! 2. Even though it's slow, it has decent acceleration.....I'd never would recommend this car in this game!:irked: Sorry for the language.....

You obviously can't drive. I can win any race but the F1 races in it. It's a great car. You suck.

milefile is right. The car is great, you suck.

You can buy the Oreca Viper, in the NTSC version anyway. It's about 1.25 megacredits.

I don't know why there's so much beef about the Oreca. I've had for a while, and almost every race I've entered it wins (ss11 always kills me).

Maybe the Oreca just handles really bad when you tune it to the max. I've never tried that... I'm sure 11646 put all the upgrades on it, though.

I'd really like to know if this guy has his S License, though, because I can't imagine anybody being able to pass the S-6 License Test and not be able to drive the Oreca.

ss11 always kills me too...AHHH!! those 180 degree turns...ahhh!!! lol But i like the Viper team Oreca..But i miss the GT2 Viper Oreca, It has the better Paint Job IMO...I Cant wait till GT4, To me Gt3 Is more like a enhanced gt1, and gt4 will be an enhanced gt2...I guess i just think that because The amout of cars in gt1 an gt3 are close to the same, and the amout in gt2 an gt4 are close ...either way, i cant wait till gt4. sorry to get off topic lol...but i think everyone is excited abt gt4 having OVER 500 Machines!!!

it ONLY has 900 horsepower.... how much hp do you want. There are plenty of great cars that don't even have 900 hp. I don't usually run my cars with 900+ hp, there isn't a need too unless you want to blow away the competition. Like the Wind and other test course races are the only places I use that much hp, because I don't want to spend all day going in a circle.

I'm going to agree with milefile on this one.

Well, how to address this, O.K. let me be as gentle as I can.

Just because you can't drive the car, doesn't mean it's a bad car. If I could sense some kind of asserted effort in acquiring knowledge from other racers here on the board as to how you can drive the car, then I would have some sympathy for you and even offer some tips, but seeing as this is not the case I will leave you with this little tid bit of advise:

Learn to drive the car before you start slamming it to pieces..., and for gosh sakes, take your foot off the gas button once in a while.

most race cars dont handle spectacular with full hp mods...

We all know that they don't show the American built cars any respect in the Gran Turismo series. They all run great and are fast but they just don't handle like the real cars do. But on the other hand most foreign sport cars handle, drive and are faster than the American built sport cars. They really should of gave the C5R vette and the Viper more respect in this game though, I mean look at how many times have they won a road race in and out of the U.S.A.

Ya...and how much is a skyline?

There's no point in buying any of the race cars in the game for several reasons, one being the fact that you can win them very easily and two: they're not exactly cars to be excited about.

I'm not saying the Oreca is a crappy car, because in all honesty, it's a decent car in the game. HOWEVER, there's better cars in the game which hold much greater value. please don't think that I'm simply condescending towards newbies, because I'm really not. I've beaten the game (100% folks) three times over and I'm simply trying to express my observations. If anyone takes it in an offensive way, go ahead and report it to the moderators.

Only 900 hp!
what!
that is so low!!!

the thing that gets me is that it is so slow and yet accelerates so damn fast! (eh???)
:p

Well if you win the Viper Oreca, what would have more bang for the buck then? I think you would make more sense if we couldn't win the Viper Oreca, but since we can, bang-for-buck isn't really necessary...:p That's how I see it, and to this:

The Oreca Viper is already "tricked out" you see, because it's a RACE CAR.

The V8 Vantage can make 994 HP W/o being broken in, and it's far from a "Race car" it's just Bad azz, and it gets put into very good use on courses.

how do you find it in the tight stuf driftster?
i find its turning circle a bit large unless i use the massive amount of power to turn it ;)

I use drifting for smaller stuff, well not really drifting I just ebrake it enough to get the nose where I want temporarily, gas it, then e brake it again, then out of the corner...Just enough ebrake to get that extra turn, and not enough to impare the traction completely

ok i dont no if its me but i like how the viper handles even in gt2 ang gt1 iv always figured out how to drive it but i am also a hardcore gt fan to drive the viper you find the rpm that it can turn then turn at that rpm its really not that hard but truly the viper is hard to handle in real life its because of all that torque.

My Oreca has 1000+ hp and it handles ok, I mean I don't have trouble with turns or anything. Maybe if it doesn't turn good try to buy those 47 grand tires.

Super duper extra slick tires are only a temporary solution. Sure they allow you car to get much much greater grip on the road, but if you have an Oreca Viper, chances are, you're already a good ways into the Amateur League and tire wear becomes an issue to be concerned about. Personally, my recommendation for dealing with the Viper's "crappy handling" is to turn off ASM and tone down TCS a tid bit, slap on some Medium slicks and miraculously get better :p The extra practice 'll go a long way later on in the game.
