Hi everyone,

At the moment i'm researching cheating, exploits and devious behaviour for my uni dissertation. I will be doing several case studies on many aspects of GT5 and I was just hoping people from gtplanet could spare just 5 mins to answer an 11 question multi choice survey relating to the topic in order to build up a picture what issues are seen as players to be the most contentious or derogatory to the intended gameplay experience. This is open to everyone:)

Here is the link if you wish to take part: http://www.kwiksurveys.com/online-survey.php?surveyID=IKHJJN_ee92083

Many thanks to all taking part 👍

Well I already answered for 8 when I didn't fit in with any options and I think I put down laziness. It was all about cheating and stuff like that. I don't think you'll find much cheaters on gtplanet.

Ok gimme a sec im just fixing that....

edit - ok just fixed it. It no longer requires an answer for that question :)

Thanks.

EDIT: Is it possible that you add for question 10 an option for improving personal gameplay skills or something like that?

Thats fine. That question still gives an interesting insight into the thinking process even if you havnt put it into practice :)

Yeah, we are an honest bunch on GTplanet:sly: interesting to see what people view as cheating, exploits and how its affects the gameplay all the same...

Thanks.

I'm not able to update the content of the questions anymore so just pick whichever is closest for now, but i left a text box labelled Q12 just to write any extra comments which spring to mind. If you really feel none of the available answers represent how you feel just note that in the text box provided :)

Okay, thanks.

Completed - I will say that gaming and particularly GT5 can be a competitive environment and where that occurs, there will always be those that seek to maximise any loopholes that exist. Whether that is cheating or an exploit is often down to ones moral values. Your paper could easily draw parallels with real world competition - Brabham water tanks, BAR fuel tanks, or more simply study the line that Mansell used to take at La Source hairpin when he was with Ferrari (wide exit onto the run-off).

A comment on your survey - these things are always hard to create objectively, but the questions seem to move between exploiting the SW and exploiting the game. Maybe an opportunity to add some extra questions for improved focus. No offence intended, just thought it might help

That #8 question tells me more about the questionnaire's author than me personally... ;)

4. D

yes, i had(bought) a walktrough magazine for GT3 :p helped alot with tunings helped me understand things....
I only use GTP for now

On the topic of cheating, if anyone finds a cheat to unlock all cars so I don't have to deal with A-spec anymore (haven't touched B-spec and never will) that would be awesome 👍

Done. Just a little tip, when creating research questions, make your they are not too vague. For example, when you said cheating/exploiting, it would have helped if you described it more. Leaving the interpretation up to the audience can be problematic, but non the less, I hope it helps.

Question 5 is problematic. What if I'm not inclined to cheat against either Human or AI and don't cheat? It doesn't leave that option open.

An open survey with a small group to determine a good range of possible answers is necessary before giving a restricted survey. If you come up with the questions by yourself, your own biases and views will restrict the range of answers possible.

I will cheat like crazy against the AI and be the dirtiest driver of all time. Mostly because I just want to get the single player races out of the way as fast as possible since they are kind of boring to me. But when it comes to multiplayer I'm all about fair play and clean driving, since that's the part of the game I really enjoy.

Okay Bro, done,
just a quick comment, in a lot of posts on GT planet players complain about beeing cheated out of a win or just a position, there is no excuse for running someone deliberatly off the road to gain track position.
The problem is that sometimes it is difficult to determine if that actaully was the case or if it was a lag/latency problem or if it was what I would term 'competitive racing', combine this with your inability to look around as in real life some of these 'cheating' incidents are nothing but accidents and no malice was intended:)

As far as cheating goes. The Super licence at Laguna Seca. Just run down to the old pit exit and don't veer off into the sand and you'll skip a few extra cars.
