i see some fiero ignorant people on here. heres the facts. the fires were caused by a bad batch of connecting rods and owners not keeping oil filled in the smal 3 qt oil pan. this happened to early built 4cyl cars in '84 onlyafter that they had bigger oil pans. also SAFETY. the fiero was the safest car besides a volvo in safety crash tests. do some research its easy to find these facts and others.

BlazinXtreme
They had a V6 model as well I believe, but they weighed nothing, were very nimble, and you could mod the crap out of them. A lot of people now just put V8 Northstars in them and they become nuts.

People just hate on the car for its ugly looks and bad safety. I however like them a lot.

yeah, ugliness and bad safety, those are ridiculous reasons to hate on a car, you're absolutely right.

thanks for actually providing facts on the Fiero, instead of just opinions and hearsay. its members like you that make GT PLanet cool.
also the delorean in the game is the new one. they are upgraded.
Yep. They upped the horsepower and installed a new suspension (you can look up the specifics of the upgrade on DeLorean.com).

The thing about the car being heavy is actually a myth. The DeLorean is, and has always been, surprisingly lightweight. Contrary to popular belief (which is where the myth comes from), the body of the car is NOT steel, it's fiberglass. The steel "body" is just a series of very thin steel sheets laid over the fiberglass, and they add very little weight to the car. The car weighs around 2700lbs. In fact, the car is actually a little lighter than a Ferrari Enzo. I think the weight in the game is around the same.

For the love of God it wasn't meant to be a Ferrari! Plus the guy that owns a Feiro said they weren't that bad with the safety for the time period. Just go drive one or ride in one and you will see that they don't completly suck.

Now we need to quit hijacking these threads and take this discussion to the automotive forum.

Here yea go - all the Fiero facts anyone needs:
http://www.fiero.org/text/autoweek.txt

I still don't like'em, let's get back to DeLoreans. Another American Automotive Success Story, just like the Fiero............ :scared:

What's great about any four banger, huh?

Well, I do 0 - 125 mph in 19,5 seconds in my '90 Saab 5d combi coupe...
Between 65 and 125 mph is whoops Porsche 930's arse big time.
And beath the hell out of the period Corvette. (Not ZR-1 though.)

That's pretty good for a four banger, and a 15-year old one at that...

And no, the car ain't stock.

About Fieros: What makes them great is handling. Handling always has to be the first priority when sports cars are concerned. If not, there's a serious attitude problem.

That's nice and all, but we're not talking about Fiero's. We're talking about DeLoreans.

now the skyline challenge....THAT is impossible. i beat 1-10 no sweat on the first tries.

Any one got any tips on beating that? I got to within 3 sec once but got tired and quit .Its would be different if each lap took 1min or so but that track in a stock skyline takes forever. The only problem ones are that and the very last one.

Never researched the fire cause, as I'd rather keep my Monza Mirage, and not worry about it.

I did like this quote from that fiero site, "By the middle of 1987, the fire count for 1984 Fieros hit a rate of about 20 blazes a month."

And this one seems to imply that it wasn't necessarily only 1984 models, "In December 1989, GM recalled every one of the 244,000 four-cylinder Fieros it had built to fix problems that caused fires. Four months later, GM recalled every single Fiero six cylinder and four cylinder to make more repairs."

The 4 burnt ones I saw, we spooky lookin. I was told at the time it was due to a fuel leak problem dripping on the exhaust manifold.

It's truly a shame, the last ones were a really sweet looking rides.

Jedi, the speed channel had a show on the Delorean's, and they said they were "supposed" to weigh 2700 pounds (or a number near that, but it was under 3000) but after they finally got the fiberglass tub strong enough to be safe, the car was more like 3500 lbs (might not be the exact number they used been a few months since I saw it).

I'm pretty sure that show's wrong, then... I got that number from a Google of the car's curb weight, and all the sites say the same thing.. right around 2700lbs. If it were heavier than that, you think at least a couple websites would say so.

How much does it weigh in the game? That should answer it. PD's numbers have never been too far from the real-world numbers.

I need one!

I make it a point NOT to look at the prize cars list because it ruins the surprise, so I waited and waited... I'm up to 36% and I just completed the American Hall where I THOUGHT I could get it as a prize car, but no!

In frustration i Ctrl-F'ed the prize car list and the DeLorean isn't there, so... should I have searched the B Used Car lot for it? I very rarely went there and even more rarely I went down to the bottom of the list. Can anyone please confirm this?
Oh it's a great car! And it goes muc hbetter when you pay 90k for the flux capacitor! Mine does 3 times the speed of light. I have to start the races days after I finish them just to win....back to the future kicks ass!:dopey:

f1king
Well you dont need to cut the course, but Im gonna go off topic a little. I realy am pleased with how well that car handles. I thought it being so old and to top it off an american car for sure I would have touble going in and out of corners but not so I like it alot.

Now remember dont go over 80 MPH you know what happend then........
absolutly nothing it's 88mph lol

ACgolf
not impossible if u just cut through the middle sand area :)
amen to that brother! haha I just went straight out throug hthe middle shifting back to keep up speed and was first before the second sand pit

SO EASY.....got it in my 2nd try...
I reckon, 1-22 are fine. Edit since some people dont see able to do it, Ill post a very brief how to:
1) Draft that red car like you've never drafted before, go around him just before the corner, making sure he doesnt get in your way.
2) DO NOT pass the blue car, even if you can. Instead get really close through the corner (without touching) and draft him down the straight, now again pass as late as possible without hitting him.
3)Go as quick as you can through the chicane and stick right behind the lead car, you should be able to hear when you're drafting him, now you should be able to pas
