The last time I heard about the Sultan of Brunei, he had about 150 cars and he had to sell a lot of them because he was in some kind of trouble (financially?) and they were in a 5 storage underground garage.

Bugga me.
Probably boom proof. He must like own his own little private test track as well or something???
I heard about this oe guy (another one from the far east) who some how made big bucks in motor sport and did a lot of testing for Mercedes. Anywayz he's basically got a road going:
CLK GTR,
911 GT1
I think he's got the longtail McLaren
(aprrantly, these are what he's got as well, so I've been told, but don't think he's actua;lly got them)
Panoz GTR1
Nissan R390 (which I seriously doubt he's got as I thought they only produced one and it's some where in Japan)
TS0 20 (again i know he hasn't got - same reason as above)
962 Dauer
and some other heafty cars. But I was only really highlighting the fact that he has many GT cars from the mid 90's.

No - you thought we'd think it was the Porsche 911 GT1. But it isn't...

I think.

Oddly, the roofline and the tail put me in mind of the Ford GT40. But surely no-one would do THAT to a classic?

nope. nothing to do with the GT40.

Here's a clue, that car was the "GT". It never made it past the prototype stage before it was canned. The company is now working on a smaller "GTS" model.

Noooo.....I recognise it frm some where though. Did it ever turn into a racing car or production.
My guess that it was some group C sports car or it could be something more recent from someone like Stealth or Ultima?

You do recognise it! :D

The story is, this guys dad makes a fortune with a pharmaceutical company. He hands it over to his son, who sells it for loadsa money and tries to build cars with the proceeds. So far, as far as I'm aware, they only have a few prototypes and nothing else. The guys name is the name of the car.

It's a Farboud GT.

alot of these middle east oil kings you were on about earlier saved the likes of bentley from going bankrupt. But apparentley theres been alot of turmoil and the sultan is struggling for money at the moment.
