My question to every one, is, do GT5 cars cost more then there worth?

When I say there worth, by that I mean, the time it takes to make the money to buy them, and the race purse's you get for the specific races you use them in. Like the classic car race, the NASCAR series, or the Formula GT events.

Like buying a Lambo Gallardo just for the one race event? No, I don't feel a lot of the cars are worth the price it costs to buy and tune them. Though there are a few cars that I've gotten a lot more than the cost of the car and tuning back through races and championships.

There are a few that just aren't worth the amount of money you spend on them just for one particular race however, the key is to find a car that's required for a specific race but can earn its worth in other races.

A lot of cars have higher prices than in real life. Especially the race cars. Or do you think, a GT40 MK II is worth 20 Million Dollar? Hell, no. It is worth really a lot, but not 20 Mio.

I think, the prices are adapted to the game design, so it isn´t as easy as in previous titles to buy famous and rarely cars so easy...and that´s the reason....invest more effort to buy cool cars.

I think it's going to be different for different people, for instance, new cars in the UK (in real life) tend to be higher in price than the same car new in another country.

Also, currencies from different countries can be worth different amounts and can change either frequently or at short notice i.e UK 'pound' V's US 'dollar' V's Japanese 'Yen' etc etc..

I think there are threads on this forum detailing cars available from the Used dealership, there is also a link detailing all cars in the game, but not sure if these links have car prices on them, it would be interesting to see how car prices in the game compared to real life prices around the world.

But there are some obvious and glaring examples of ludicrous pricing on GT5, the most obvious one in the game, for me, is the Delorean which costs 500,000... (however, this is a used car, and could possibly be deemed a classic)..

Alternatively, an absolute gem of a ''supercar'' like the TommyKaira ZZII costs 59,000..

Absolutely crazy IMO.. :ouch:

I think those three classic cars for 20 million credits are overpriced and that the only car worth that price is the X1.

I saw that '65 Alpha GTA (or GTV?) for 111,000 credits on the used lot, and it had 343,000 km on it. No way! And there are many other examples, too. Some have reasonable prices, but for the most part, prices are high!

I don't think the cost system is based on the real life equivalent, but rather the performance of the car.

Really..??

Like I said:

500,000 for a Delorean (one of the WORST performing cars in the game)
59,000 for a Tommykaira ZZII (one of the BEST performing cars in the game)

No offence, but it's not 100% performance based.

Generally or roughly, I think you have a point, for example:

Le Mans cars (Group C and LMP) cost 3 - 5 million
DTM cars cost 900,000 -1,500,000
JGTC cars -750,000 - 950,000

But this is not applied 100% throughout the game.

For example:

Audi R8 LMS (a gt3 car) has 600bhp, weighs 1300kgs costs 5,000,000
Toyota GT1 (a gt1 car) has 800bhp, weighs 900kgs and costs 3,000,000

The only thing that is guaranteed 100% is that there are cars that are exceptions to the norm, and if you look long enough and hard enough, you can find them.

I ran across an Atenza race car and a Mazdaspeed6 on the same day. The atenza was only 44k while the Mazdaspeed6 was 66k. Uh, what? My Mazdaspeed6 was $28200. After the dealer knocked off 3200 and mazda took off 3000, I only paid 22$ for the card BRAND NEW. The prices you get for selling cars is terrible also. You dont get credit for mods either. Spent 200k modding your RX-7? It's worth 12k used. Stupid. Prices need work.

Yeah, don't sell your cars in GT.

The prices are more based on real life than performance. Old race cars in real life are very expensive.

FYI: "Alfa", and yes it's a GTA :p

Being an Alfista, I know the rarity of the old GTAs, and the price is not that far off if the GT5 credit is a bit less than a US dollar. It's also one of my favourite cars in the game - big shame that it's not a premium car.

Bro some UK dude bought a Ferrari 250GTO for 20 mil POUNDS. POUNDS!

So a vintage 1967 Ferrari Race car could EASILY fetch 20mil+ USD at an auction.

Cars are worth what they are worth, not how they perform.

A Viper 2 generations old ('97 GTS, I think) is $90,000, but about 40 in real life. A new Viper is $99,770, but why would you buy it when the ACR is only $230 more? Lame.

Well if one of those cars with 0 miles hit the open market for real I doubt $20 mil would be enough.

I disagree, because that's exactly what its like in real life.

I bought a Ford Fiesta XR2 for £500 and spent about 10k getting it up to track day spec with the safety equipment and modifications and sold it for £500.

Modifying cars make no benefit to the value of them.
