will lead to a more nefarious type of racing? We all know what certain folks will do to get ahead. Will this lead to Ranked/Unranked servers and if this happens do you think the best drivers will gravitate toward Unranked to avoid the dirty racers?

You realize leaderboards are for hotlapping right?

Yes, thank you. We dont know for sure that that is the final chapter in leaderboards as the game continues to evolve. I would like to see hotlaps for specific tracks/hp/car models. Im not sure of the specifics at this juncture.

Are you talking about online leaderboards where you race people and gain "XP" to move up rankings and compete in higher level races - ala CoD?

I see what you are talking about, dirty drivers pushing clean drivers into the gravel on turn 1 can give them a solid lead and win them the race. Therefore without a proper penalty system the top 100 would just be dirty drivers and consist of who can survive lap 1 without being pushed into the sand.

He never said Time Trials, you guys just assumed that leaderboards = time trials.

But he talked about it like it was a feature already confirmed to be in the game, not some idea of his.

And then there was this post... Which was probably one of the funniest posts I've ever read on GTPlanet.

That makes no logical sense?

Thanks for being the only one who read and understood what I meant. Forums are for discussing possible changes and trends to a game. There will always be people that are trying to be cute or snarky. Unfortunately that leads to an acrid forum full of animosity. My folks used to say " If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all." For the record, ranking wins in the format we have now has been discussed before. Im not some ten-year old with a vivid imagination and no clue...just sayin';)

How is this so funny? Let's say I like the Mitsubushi FTO Super Touring Car on Grand Valley and they put in hotlaps on leaderboards that are specific to either that car or the bhp that it has. Comical? I dont see it. You guys are like the fools on the Warhawk PSU, better yet maybe even the GB forums.

I thought you meant time trial leaderboards to start off with as well. I suppose that if a ranking system was implemented this would be a problem, as it is in some online races at the moment. The only way to avoid it would be to have full penalties. For those not cheating however this may make the races tedious as close racing would be impossible in case you tapped the car in front and got penalised.

We should have leaderboards for the time trials but definitively not for online ranking because it brings out the worst in people.

On FM3 there used to be occasions where I would have 4 people parked up waiting to take me out. They did this because they were all in a party and were trying to let their mate win the race. Absolutely no reason why this wouldn't occur on GT5.

what does dirty driving have to do with time trials?

After seeing the GT Academy fiasco with corner cutting, dirty driving will happen very much in the time trials if we get them via update 👎

For some reason GT5 is worse than GT5P... We´ve had leaderboards, a nice and working penalty system (for crashing other cars and corner cutting), PP points and hp limits and challenging races in GT5P... All this things are missing in GT5...

Really, after 2 months of playing I would give GT5 really an 7 or even an 6,5 out of 10... There is nothing to do in that game, A-Spec is worse, license tests are done and the best part in the game, the AMG driving school, is all golded already...

The game is only about making money and collecting cars... But there are no events to use all that cars... We´ve had ~50 events in GT5P and only ~122 events in GT5... What went wrong with this game? We really need an answer. It feels like they used 5 years to build the cars and 1/2 year to bash the rest of the game...

Sounds like your in the same position as me because I can't find anything to do on GT5 for exactly the same reason. At least if we had time trials like GT5P I would have something to do.

Im going to buy TDU 2 and return to GT5 later in the hope this fiasco of a game has been updated and sorted. At the moment I would go as far to say that GT5P was a better game.

I guess the bottom line is as it always is. Find a good group of guys/gals and mix things up.

Not even online is fun. Tried it out last week the first time, became 2nd or 3rd and get 4000 Cr. WTH? Look at the Autolog system in Shift, it rewards you for good driving and so on... You get your own online driving profile with you skills and more, so it´s easier to find fitting opponents. Such simple things are missing in all of PD´s games. Really they seem 10 years back in time. I mean weather and day&night is no innovation for me and thats the most "modern" thing in GT5. The rest is still GT4 with polished graphics and physics...

PD must forget their old games and have to build an new one. I mean why did we get always the half of everything. On some tracks there is no weather, on some no day&night... Why this standard/premium? Even though I play with the standard cars, it still feels not right. This is not an PS2 1/2 this is an PS3... With those standards in the game it feels more like an PS2 1/2 game...

So thats enough for tonight, went a bit off topic... But these are things that I can´t understand... Better 300 premium cars, 15 tracks with weather and day & night and an great career mode than this with 1000 cars, 30 tracks and no fun and no challenges...

I hate to restart an event 20 times to find the perfect car for the event to have a bit fun..

All valid points but online can be a blast with a good group that has a deep garage, still. You are more than welcome to join our group anytime. :)

+1 👍

Mind you, it's an issue with Shift and other games, too. They spend all their time making a game, and no time investigating exploits. If I were in charge of PD, I'd task one employee to find ALL the exploits, whether track cutting, contact without consequence, even just things like the birthday glitch and duping, and then prioritize fixing them especially (before I get roasted!) the racing aspects. No doubt most of PD's crew are good drivers, clean(ish!) and honest to the spirit of the sport, but once the game gets into the hands of the general game playing community, well, some of those, their idea of playing the game is mostly to find AND USE every single exploit and unfair advantage they can. Then what THEY do gets seen by the rest of the community, and a large percentage of them start using the exploits, just to keep up...

Next thing you know, there isn't a chicane or corner that ISN'T being cut, if it can. And that, my friends, is NOT 'racing'. That's 'gaming', if you want to put a kinder, gentler description of what most of us would call 'cheating'.

Put horns on the guy, dress him in a red suit, but give him the job of MESSING the game up! If you know what the issues are, you can fix them. But, as the GT-Academy fiasco has shown PD don't even KNOW that some of their tracks can be cut without penalty. Between that one guy, and just racing around in random public lobbies would quickly show them what the most used exploits are.

FIX THEM!

"Some say he has never driven a chicane in his life, and that, if he can cut out a whole section without a drive-through, he'll do it every time... All we know is, he's called the Slug!"

Well, as to why it's so funny, it's just your word choice. The fact that you used "nefarious", "gravitate", "the final chapter", "evolve", and "juncture", in your short 2 paragraphs of posts just makes me think of someone writing an english exam, sitting in front of a computer with a thesaurus and you get points for how many big words you use.

As to why I'm telling you it makes no sense, it's because you are talking about something that has never been mentioned or rumored to be in the game. Show me a quote from PD saying anything about getting points for doing well in online races, or their being any "Ranked/Unranked" servers.
That would be like me saying "Are you worried that the inclusion of a create-a-car feature would cause people to make overpowered cars?"

If you said something along the lines of "If PD included a ranking system fro online races, do you think it would cause dirty driving?".
That would have made a whole lot more sense. All I was saying is you are talking like your theory is a fact, when actually it's just pure speculation.
