Obviously not endorsing the real thing...

Last night I enjoyed several gin and tonics while racing...
Usually its bourbon though.

Whats your drink of preference?

As we all know this practice is high frowned upon . I have been lucky enough to have made it home many a night. Now that I am a little old and wiser I know when I have reached my limit. That being said, if you want to kill yourself use some other means.. This is not the way to go as it will almost alway take out some innocent victim.

The only victim I'll take out, between the couch and the bedroom, is the wife.

No harm, no foul.

Pointless thread is pointless.
And has a very misleading title.

Toss-off. Its meant in fun. It's an honest question and i'm interested in what the other ADULTS on here drink when playing GT5. No less pointless than "whats your favorite car" threads...

Couple of years ago i would get crunked playing GT (mixing many beers with smoking some big fat doobies at the same time), great fun all through the night, sometimes still do it but i'm more responsible now.

There's a point tough where too much is too much, and then you crash in turn one, but thats mostly at the break of dawn ;)

Coca-Cola, water, or sweat-tea. Yes, I'm a 38 year old adult who doesn't really drink. Maybe a 12 pack a year. lol

Are you talking about the car or the drink? :D

:D

And that's where we all should keep it! At home!

P.S. - Sorry for thread stalking. Completely unintentional. :D

1. yes
2. Only way I'd consider it.

Although I know this is meant to be s question about drinking and driving while playing the game which is completely harmless, I would like to this time to say how dangerous it is in real life. It is the reason I am physically disabled. I was hit by a drunk driver going an estimated 110 mph. I suffer every day because of some idiots mistake. So please, enjoy your brew at home while playing GT5 but I beg you to leave your keys to your real car in your pocket. Sorry for the hijack, but I feel that this is something that needs to be said and can't be said enough. Thanks.

As a quick note, for those of you that don't drink, to find out what it might be like to drive drunk, try driving while rotated at 90 degrees. (Preferably with a controller.)

I did it a while back with a 4.2 Audi R8 on No Chicanes Sarthe...and was swerving down the whole Mulsanne Straight.

You're right there, drunk and in control of a solid moving object at great speed is playing with other people's life and your own, wish that idiot that hit you would have stayed home that day, and grabbed his booze in front of the telly playing GT.

Wish you all the best of luck dealing with the trauma, wouldnt wish it on anyone.

👍 Well said.

Hopefully you didn't take this thread as making light of real drinking and driving.

Drinking while GT-ing is highly recommended. It helps to create the fluid motion needed for some races. I actually find my driving line smoother in the FGT after a couple Jameson on rocks, or a six pack.
In real life, however....
Drinking and driving is the quickest way to chap my hide. It is the most self-centered, idiotic thing a person can do in public. Having lost many friends to it, including 5 in one night, not to mention 3 roll-overs of my own (none of which I was driving), I can only say that the temporary pleasure of "just one more" will only lead to trouble. Not if, but when. Making a person's family suffer for life over a drink is the kind of math I don't understand.

Thanks and yea, I just take it one day at a time. I just want to be clear on something tho. I don't drink myself (my medication prevents it plus wasn't really a drinker to begin with) but I have absolutely nothing against those who do. It's when you decide to get behind the wheel of your real car is when I have the problem. Anyway, to answer the question to the OP, nothing like an ice cold Pepsi and a medicated brownie!!! Yes, I have my medical marijuana card, lol.

:) Now I understand you don't feel the urge to drink haha

I usually enjoy a couple glasses of red wine or a Guinness. Other than that, I indulge more in marijuana when I'm playing GT. *typical stoner moment* I find it takes my tunes to places they'd never go, maan!

Every evening i smoke(green) and drive(not so green althou mostly play on nordschleife aka green hell :p ) and it all becomes more alive and smooth. Keeps my bob meter in the middle instead of the red zone :D and i usualy do top 3.
sometimes in the weekends i smoke very much it and stop playing gt5 (couse my bob meter goes blue while making the mistakes that bob would do in the red zone) and play some arcade or spacy game :).
beat hazard ultra is the one making the too high to play gt5 replacement game :p gonna buy ssx to take over that role.

WOW KB18FAN, thats crazy! Im glad you survived though (though I couldnt imagine what you have to go through :( )

When I play GT I cannot drink more than 3 or 4 beers (though I drink usually about 6 per night).

After 3-4 I start dazing off too much and am not competitive to any real player and can only beat the AI then or some Friends and Family that visit. (I once beat my Uncle-In-Law after about 9 beers and even stopped on the track to get another beer... lol)

I agree with what everyone said on here though. On a video game is one thing, In real life... dont do it! I have known several friends when I was younger loose their lives over doing that.... One not only killed himself but his siblings as well when he decided to drag race another car (mildly intoxicated) and hit another car head on over 100+ mph... yeah, bad idea and driving IRL like you do on GT isnt a good idea either... Keep it to controlled environments like it is supposed to be.

Way back when A guy caleld Jimmi Bo made a website devoted to the worst online drivers (This was back in 2000 - 12 years ago when the internet would fit inside a shoe box and you could take it home at weekends)

Anyhow one section had a series of replay stills and a transcript of the chat log for a pick up race (Just a jump and join race) The cars were 1967 F1 cars that didn't take that much abuse before they spat you off the track into some tree of hedgrow.

Anyhow this guy blunders into the track.
"I've just come back from the pub"
I think he started about 12th on the grid at Zandvoort ... somehow he managed to beat two guys in qualification... but he was just about incontrol enough to make a good clean start. He kept pace with the grid as it tore up the track to the usually pretty safe first corner, the heavily banked and quite loose Tarzan 180° hairpin. He missed his braking point and collected 7 cars in a moments.

The rest of the chat log had to be censored with extreme prejudice, as the victims berated the foolish beer monster.
