Do you follow auto racing? Which league?

NASCAR is so boring its painful, the guys that usually win on the ovals are the ones with the best teams, other than that its mostly down to luck who wins, this has been said by many NASCAR drivers themselves so argue that point all u want I don't care. The best drivers in NASCAR are the ones who win the road courses, most of the American drivers fall apart at the first sign of a right hander, which is why its mostly international drivers winning road races, while the local drivers win at the ovals (mostly). I find any touring car series really exciting to watch as they're usually closely regulated so the races are very close and the drivers don't mind a bit of rough and tumble. My favourite series is formula one though, because its always been at the forefront of technology and has the best drivers in the world. F1 can be extremely political though, which is its only downside, as sometimes the politics gets in the way of the racing.

Has nothing to do with nationality. Thanks for the stereotype.

No, it has to do with those drivers (ringers as they are called in NASCAR) having WAY more seat time on road courses than any normal NASCAR driver who spends their career on ovals. This isn't really the case lately though as some of the regular NASCAR drivers are getting much better and the "ringers" aren't winning as much.

Thanks Jason for shooting down yet another ignorant statement about NASCAR. Its funny how these people that hate NASCAR make such ignorant statements in order to justify their dislike for the sport.

If you don't like NASCAR, thats fine, to each their own. But to make such misinformed statements like in the above post only makes you look like a fool.

I enjoy watching ALMS and I love the Le Mans 24h. I went in 2007 or 8, I can't remember.

I like F1 as well because of all the innovative tech being tried out etc.

Lol I pointed out a fact. Ur only substituting American for "normal NASCAR drivers" and international for "ringers" and u call me ignorant? Seriously dude if u like watching identical cars drive in circles good for u but don't call me names for telling it like it is. Someone was asking for opinions on different categories of notorsport, u all offered ur own and I offered mine. Calling me ignorant for not liking NASCAR is childish, I wouldn't care if u don't like f1, since I understand its downsides and am a mature adult.
Edit: my post wasn't misinformed, I've followed NASCAR in the past its just too dull for my time now, the Americans or "normal NASCAR drivers" have got far less experience on road courses, which is why the international drivers, who make up most of the field of drivers who have come from road racing backgrounds, win on the real tracks.

Are you suggesting the car regulations in F1 are less strict than in NASCAR? Thats what I gather from your comment about identical cars.

If so, you may not be ignorant but are indeed being intentionally obtuse.

@ cargo rat, I've been on this forum only a couple of days now and u seem to always be in every thread I go into, calling people names and arguing like a child. U might want to check out some of ur own posts before u start calling other people fools lol

The regs in f1 are less strict than NASCAR dude, I agree they're far too strict for most fans but they allow interpretation, hence different aero packages for different cars. Nascars are all identicle other than paint.

Edit: Sry about poor grammar and NASCAR always being caps, I'm on my phone, little touch screen keyboard, I hit like four keys with each press lol

1) Please make sure to avoid using "u" and "ur", as text speak is not allowed here. Read the AUP.

2) Double posting is also frowned upon. Please use the multiquote feature or the edit button.

3) Your argument makes no sense anyway because one of these roadcourse "ringers" is actually Boris Said, who is an American.

4) They're not asking for your opinion on anything. The title says "Do you follow auto racing? Which league?" All they want to know is what you watch, nothing more.

5) If you had bothered to watch any recent NASCAR road course races, you would see that the normal NASCAR drivers are doing just fine. Or maybe Brad Keselowski's win last year was a fluke. And he beat one of the best "ringers" in the world, Marcos Ambrose.

Really? You admit you're new here, and yet three threads I've seen you post in, you've already: called part of someone's writeup terrible ("Giygas's Car Comparos" thread), revived a thread from 2011 to tell people they need glasses if they can't see dirt build up on a car ("Is there any point to that car wash?" thread), and have blasted NASCAR in this thread with uninformed opinions while while also calling out a long time member. I normally try to stay out of other people's business, but I feel you could tone it down a little. Putting others down so quickly isn't going to make you many friends.

Sorry about the short hand, im on a phone, ill remember that in future. I offered an opinion as that is what most others are doing, no need to single me out on that one. As I said I used to follow NASCAR so I'm telling it how I saw it, haven't watched it recently due to lack of time to myself, I would rather watch more interesting forms of motorsport. I'm more interested in the technical side of motorsport now, which is also a reason NASCAR doesn't interest me as much anymore.

Plenty of "technical" bits about NASCAR that are interesting. It takes some form of equipment and skill to get a 3400lb car to corner at 150+ mph.

2013 will be a good year, the new cars look fantastic.

Agreed from what I've read NASCAR looks to be going in the right direction, i stopped watching it cause it was getting so bad, technically the cars were boring and very basic but they've changed a lot of regs regarding suspension and engine technology, so you're right this year will undoubtedly be a lot better. As far as the cars not being identical, what differs from car to car?

Personally I'm waiting for next year when f1 will introduce massive changes, its been a long time coming. V8 supercars is looking good for this year though, two new manufacturers and car of the future regulations will make for good racing.

I apologise if I offended anyone, I merely offered an honest opinion like anyone else and I admit I got worked up when name calling came into it. What you see is what you get with me, ill always be honest even if it gets me in trouble, I always say what I think, bot what I think others want to hear, some people respect that, while others don't like it. I'm always open to suggestions and I don't mind being corrected when I'm wrong. I know my flaws and will readily admit them, I know I can be opinionated, but so can everyone, I just get angry when people resort to name calling instead of saying "u r wrong about x and x is actually the truth" or "I don't agree because...". Again, sorry for getting worked up, I'm not the only one who does, but I will admit it and apologise accordingly.

I like to hear that. Knowing if you've gone too far and owning up to it by apologizing goes a long way. Hope you enjoy your stay here at GTPlanet. 👍

Thanx mate, we can all get a bit carried away at times. i had just had a workout and was extremely pumped up, and I just don't deal well with people name calling over the net, to me its like when someone mouths off at you over the phone where theyre safe, and then avoids seeing you in person. ive got a name for that - telephone tough guys lol, they give me the s**ts every time lol

Honestly, it all depends on what exites you about the sport. NASCAR is my sport. Most that bash NASCAR , don't fully understand it. It may look easy, but NASCAR stock cars are alot more bare-bones than F1 or Super GT. The cars are doing 190mph for about 2 hours, while racing against 42 other drivers on an oval. Also, the cars are alot heavier, use carburetors instead of fuel injection, and have a 4 speed gearbox instead of paddle shifters. NASCAR just seems more complex that any world circuit racing. I just wish GT5 included more hometown racing like figure 8s or demolition derby. That's where the entertainment factor really peaks

Please show me where I called you ignorant or any other type of name. I called your "statement" ignorant, not you. There is a difference. Also, I never called you a fool. What I said was that making statements like you did make you "look" foolish, yet another difference. Never did I say, "You are ignorant" or "you are a fool." I hope that clears things up for you now. If thats how you look at things, then I would consider your post here quite ironic, calling me a "child."

F1 (Formula 1) for me. Been watching it for 18 years and it's been very interesting over that time to see the cars, tracks and drivers evolve. Some good, some bad. The crashes are pretty good too ;)

I have been on the forum for a while now. CargoRat has been very involved in the forum. He always is willing to provide good help and suggestions for the betterment of the people asking questions. I have yet to see a single post where he is directly negative to a person. He is always very respectful and I have gained a respect for him in my time here and he is a great person. He never once has called someone a 'fool' or made a non-constructive statement like that. I would appreciate it greatly if you left my friend alone and stopped calling him out on things he has never done. 👍 thank you and have a nice day.

Edit: "u" (you) might also want to check "ur" (your) own grammar before calling someone 'childish'

Update...Nascar ran fuel injection this past year. They do have straight cut gears I believe....still not paddle shifter, so no equality there. No commont on firgure 8 or derby.

Lol well aren't you precious, at least I was nice enough to apologise and not be a smart mouth.
@shaz: me too mate, love f1, I do miss how it used to be more open in the regs but hopefully Bernie won't be around screwing it up for much longer, bring on 2014 regs I say, should be an interesting year :)

Well thank you Shoe, thank you very much. I appreciate the kind words. I admit, I can be harsh sometimes or blunt, but I will never resort to name calling. If someone says something that I believe to be stupid, foolish, ignorant, etc, I'm going to say so and I don't percieve that as directly, or in directly, calling someone a name. When people do that to me, I'm just like, oh well, thats your opinion if you think what I said was stupid and just move on. I don't make a thread accusing them of calling me names because I know the difference. Anyway, thanks again for being a friend and sharing your kind words Shoe. You yourself are also an upstanding member here and I enjoy reading your posts aswell. Peace my friend.

Again, another ironic post. You claim not to be a "smart mouth" yet you go and be a smart mouth anyway with your "precious" statement. Just stop already.

GT racing has always been my favorite sport. Even when put on the same track as prototypes like the Audi R18 and other lmp's, I always pay close attention to which manufacture and model of car is near the top. That's not saying I don't like lmp racing, It's just if I were offered a seasons run in any racing series, GT would automatically be at the top of the list.

I will show people the same respect they show me. In your case not much buddy :)

Please, show me how I have disrespected you. I have not called you, or anyone else, any names like you suggest. Its not my fault you take things personal when they wern't meant that way to begin with.
