Searching for something else, I came across this thread. The answer is "RIGHT NOW!"

The iMac G5 can be reduced to just the power cable. Wireless network, wireless keyboard / mouse, and the display and computer are all one piece with speakers built in.

I made a thread about this somewhere else but am too lazy to dig it up.

lol, came across this thread at a strange time, cleaning out the back of my desk, its a mess of wires and things that have fallen down the back.

The iMac is a perfectly viable solution if:
1. You can stand crap speakers
2. You don't mind the lack of graphics horsepower
3. You're happy with 1 CPU.

Personally, I can't do any of the 3... :indiff: Which is why I bought a G4 that I was planning on upgrading to a dual 1.7 with a Radeon 8500 or faster, an ATA-133 or SATA PCI card, and a M-Audio Revolution 5.1 sound card, which would plug in to my Z-680s... before I borked the logic board :banghead:

Hopefully this summer I'll be able to get a dual 2.5 G5... I doubt it, but it's possible... Either way though, I'm still gonna be stuck with cords :indiff:

in the original picture, i see alot of cables that could be "dog-boned" over themselves (not looped in a coil) and either cable tied or twist tied, then twist-tied together into 2 or 3 big bunches. you can even buy rolls of twist tie from a garden center and cut it to your own length, for securing really big bundles of cables

you can also buy things called "cable tidies" at office supply places, which are basically a small wheel apparatus on a hub, which you place the cable into, then wind it up, taking up all the messy slack

you could even buy automotive conduit cabling at an automotive supply shop which is a big plastic tube with a slit down it, which you stuff the cables into and fasten (usually with cable ties) and just lead out the minimum you need

or do what 99% of the computing public does, including me, and stuff them behind the desk where you can't see and forget about it :)
