in the past i have gotten dents and scrathes and it repaired automaticaly, but if you get really bad damage like this:

will it fix automatically or will you have to pay?

thanks:cheers:

It will be fixed automatically. Don't listen to the rumours that are going around stating that the engine rebuild/chassis maintenance option have anything to do with damaging your car. They don't.

This makes me feel better, do you have a source? I've been worried about driving my pricey cars around because I certainly can't afford all the rebuilds. Perhaps the most unfinished thing in this game are the instructions.

You can test it yourself. Buy a new car, drive it without crashing and after a few miles, even before the engine is completely broken in, it will enable you to rebuild both the chassis and the engine.

Both rebuilds come with a fixed price depending on the car's price, by the way.

I also found cars seem to get better after a couple of races after being new, the engine seems to go faster and like you said "Broken in".

Yup, most cars will have a little less HP than stated in the dealership when you use them for the first time.

Wow that's the worst damage I've ever seen in GT5! And I've been playing quite a bit and have even gone backwards head on into the opposition a few times. If cars would do that on the first major collision it would be so sweet. As it stands though, from what I've seen, it takes multiple hard collisions to get even close. For your question, I used to think that race damage had something to do with the chassis restoration but I'm gladly wrong. And also, just because it allows you to repair the chassis, doesn't mean you should. It takes many miles to warrant a chassis repair. I heard somewhere that the car is hard to even drive in a straight line when a restoration is really needed. I haven't experienced this yet.
