As the title says: When you respray a ride - do you select from the available manufacturer paint chip color options?

I realized last night while changing the look of a new car...that I always filter by specific manufacturer and only choose from those. Some people like 0/0/0 cars - I guess for me it's important to keep an "original" look and not mix paint chips from one make to another.

So, is anybody else out there a little OCD?

Or is your GT AUTO paint shop a free-for-all selection?

I used to, but for my league racing I picked gold chrome as my color. So pretty much any car I race with is gold chrome.

Not so much for me. My thing was making sure when I changed wheels in gt4 that they were the same manufacturer that the car was. Nothing tackier than Nissan wheels on a Toyota.

Was the first sentence about paint? :P Otherwise I'd think you're in the wrong thread!

I mainly try to keep manufacturer colours on most my cars, to give them an original look. :)

Yeah, I was referring to paint at first lol. Sorry for not making that more clear.

I f im keeping the car close to stock then yes, but if im building it to the max then probably not, i like fully tuned cars to look as unique as you can make then in this game,

Most of the time I try to, unless the car doesn't come stock in the colour I want. But generally I keep the stock colour.

Depends when I feel like I need more brightness in my garage. I tend to paint my exotic, high-powered cars bright colours like light blue and yellow, but occasionally I like to paint my small hatches, like my Matte Yellow Golf R.

answer to thread title: Yes. I re-paint my cars with paint coming from their manufacturers, soft of like a novelty or brand recognition thing. That includes painting the wheels  For me, the car has more appeal if you paint it with manufacturer paint. I bought an Alfa Romeo 8C a few days ago, I wanted a blue one but it doesn't come in any blue color. so I went to look for a blue color that came from Alfa Romeo, used it, and my 8C just looked drop. Dead. Gorgeous.:drool::drool:

but if I don't find a paint color that's good enough for my car, I look for paint from their partner or sister company (e.g. painting a Merc with McLaren paint :dopey:)

I just pick a random color and see if it is good. Though PD really need to make it so you can see how the color truly looks on your car (In a preview. I've wasted so many colors because i couldn't see what it would truly look like!)

Agreed, that'd be very helpful.

I always sort by quantity owned, then pick a color from the list I have the most of.

Bizzarely I have over 3k paints, and not one silver or gold chrome. Not that I'm dying for one (would be nice), but it's just kind of strange I've never gotten one. No matte white either.

I keep all of my cars stock. Standard cars are whatever color they came in. Premiums are one of the OEM colors. If I want to tune one, I get a second. If I tune one, I'll often paint it–any color I want, though I'll almost never use a paint chip that I have only one of. I paint the wheels, too.

My league cars are a different matter, and are all the same color to keep an obvious identity.

I absolutely do that. It is a bit of OCD I think, but anything other than keeping in the same group, it just feels weird to me. I like to have a certain OEM look to my cars. Like my Golf R that I built is painted Atlas Arangio from the LP670 SV. Unless I am looking for a certain shade for wheels, I will absolutely stay with the same owner group (VAG, Toyota/Lexus, etc.). For instance, my 500pp Lexus IS-F is painted in one of those Maziora paints from the G-Sports 86.

Good idea. I never really thought about looking through my Audi paint chips, as second option, when I can't find a color I want on a VW (and so on with other sister companies).

I keep my cars paint standard or if i do change the paint i always change it to another colour that is available for that specific model. I intend to build certain cars for drifting, drag etc so will use some of my custom paints for those but as for the cars i use for racing i'll always keep them standard colours.

I custom color cars when I have multiple copies of that cars. I try to keep the majority of my garage stock with the exception for my duplicates and I have many duplicates :D

As much a I can I do but some times I don't like the way it is so I repaint it. Although this is just rarely since I like to keep a good paint collection.

bunch of purists lol
when i see a colour i like, i put it on a car or wheels

I use exclusively colours that not only the same brand offers, but also the car model in the game.

I just like to keep them in a somewhat original state.
