Do you leave your car(s) stock?

I keep most of mine stock except for tires (sport softs for exotics, sports mediums for bahn burmers and sports hard for everything else). If I feel like tuning its always to the max, and I always have stockers of that car handy

In my favourite cars I always have 1 car stock and one tuned, painted in matte black and matte rims, becoming a member of "Tha Shadow":p -> Why? Check sig.
Cars like Daihatsu Move, I just tuned them because it's funny, don't care if I have a stock one.

If you put racing softs on every car you'll lose all of that true nature and handling.

just sports softs / meds. Racing softs are for RACING. If I am going up against cars with sports tires then I only use sports. If the car was designed to race then I use Race tires only.

Buy one to tune and one to stay stock.

One other thing I do is IF I upgrade a car I try to think of what I could actually do myself in real life with real money. Kind of makes you think twice about weight reduction and engine mods if you don't own a shop. I usually go for ECU, Air filter and maybe exhaust.

Racing tire is just a name, and not a single thing more. They are no more appropriate than sports or comfort tires. The sports tires probably make more appropriate racing tires for a number of cars especially since GT5 grip levels are just constants.

Sometimes I wonder if the tires were just numbers (1, 2, 3, etc) instead of names, would people use sports tire more?

Slightly tune some of the cars, mostly those that are not sport cars or don't have good racing manners. Just enough to release the true nature of the beast... But I'm guilty of over-tuning some just for the fun of it... (430 Scuderia have all the goodies, big wind in the back included...). There are some that I just leave the way they are because they sweet rides they way they are... Ferrari California... Not for racing, just for driving...

I have been trending lately to leave all my cars stock. Everything but the tires. I find I like to enjoy the true nature of the car without altering the original performance / handling. With so many different cars in the game I feel that you can win every event with a stock car. You just have to pick the right one.

If I do end up altering a car I buy a second one just to have stock. I color code them to keep track LOL.

What do you all think about it?
I can't tell you how much I agree with you on this one. I enjoy the pure aspects of each car more than adding modifications.

It's so easy to add modifications and make the car stick to the road like glue...it's not so easy putting your foot to the floor in a car without any mods. Not only that it's so much more enjoyable.

I really do wish there was a way of competing online using unmodded cars.

i keep my large collection of ferrari's and lamborghini's stock, even changing the tyres ruins the enjoyment of driving them in my opinion. I always see people online in hideous looking exotic cars with huge wings..

I used to tune cars at first but now I ride all my cars stock. Those with a tune I've bought a new one stock. Even the tyres, I use what they come with from the dealer. Makes it alot more interesting i think.

A stock icon and an option to only allow stock cars for races online would be cool.

Tune some, keep some.

Some examples of vehicle tuning of mine:

Vitz - just changed the wheels.
Cervo - never fitted a wing. They're all tasteless.
S15 - I have got 3: RM'd, tuned and stock.
R34 - I have 2. One of them is stock.
Z33 - I own 2... both tuned, though.
Z34 - I own a stock and a tuned too
S2000 - stock and tuned
Prius - the one I tuned for Bob to use in the FF challenge, and the one Bob won. - I like newer priuses a bit
So, I have most cars in stock and tuned. Standards are always stock.

I only tune cars I plan on releasing as a public tune and cars which I like driving, like my Corvettes, Evos, etc. So yes, I tune my cars, but not with racing softs like a lot of people do:p

I do quite a bit (most are stock, hehe) partly because i suck at tuning.
Luckely GTP forum has a tuning section 👍 So i'll have a guide how to use certain parts.
Btw the oil change is standard operation. Tyres, the occasional spoiler, new wheels, colour change and ECU are things i've swaped from time to time.

edit RS tyres i hardly use , less then 1 time /100 cars.

All stock for me.

I never really understood the point of tuning when Gran Turismo prides itself on accurately simulating how real cars drive. When you start adding horsepower and decreasing weight for all your cars, you've missed the whole point IMO.

i leave all road cars stock, even tires. the race cars i consider fair game though.

does anyone want to do a stock car race some time?

The physics are the same. Why does having a tuned car matter? It's not less accurate really.

Ya tuning is fine to me. I don't see that any amount of tuning in game will make it a different car. Cars always "feel" like themselves, the way they're built and move. Most of what you're doing seems to be weight and hp related, so it will respond better or worse and suspension helps cornering but to me each car has its own essence that is always maintained.

Stock is fun but there's nothing wrong with modifying a car. What I personally don't like is overpowering road cars because often they don't seem to drive well afterward.

I buy some cars specifically to race on line. All of those are max tuned. If it's a car I like which most are then I get another one and keep it stock to personally enjoy the car in it's "natural" state.

This. On some special cars like the TVRs I do a chassis and engine rebuild to see how they drove when they came from the dealer back in the day. Love the RMs and keep a second one stock.

Depends! Cars I love I have them both stock and fully tuned, one for the looks brand new and one to get the hell out of it on the road.
2 Miuras, 2 Corvette ZR1s, etc.

I leave most of mine stock, but sometimes you just got to see what a '79 honda can do with 200+ hp :)

Bit of a mixed bunch for me, I have 3 or 4 of my favourite cars in all guises.

I have a mix. Most, I would say, are stock and untouched (used cars I refresh but that's it). I buy an array of tires for cars I use often for different events, but most are stock. The tuned cars I have are mostly RMs or cars I needed to win specific events. I also have some semi-tuned cars (BNR32 with semi-racing exhaust, sports filter, ECU, and sport suspension).
