Do you leave your car(s) stock?

I'm in the middle. I like to tune cars but sometimes when i add stuff to a car.... it's ruined, so i tend to be "careful" (Expecially talking about engine stage).
So, I have at least 2 of my favorite cars. One heavily tuned (Only if the results are good!) and the other one almost stock, i add just suspension and weight reduction if needed and stuff like that, soft tuning to improve a good car..
 
I tend to leave my newer standard cars unmodified, depending on what type of car it is (I'll leave the LMP's and expensive cars but modify the Group B rally cars). As for premiums, I modify. Some cars however I modify to because their specs are inaccurate to those in real life.
 
Guilty. Like many others I always try to have 1 car stock and another one to tune. Some cars I have multiple of, if not just for the different color but, 1 stock, 1 tuned for grip, 1 tuned for drift, and 1 with max upgrades.

On a side note, I really wish people would stop using the term 'fully tuned' when they are referring to only having max upgrades. It's not fully tuned if nothing has been done to suspension, tranny, lsd, downforce, etc.
That's just one thing that really bothers me.

I don't do stuff like Weight Reductions and the like for the simple reason of it cannot be undone.
 
Racing tire is just a name, and not a single thing more. They are no more appropriate than sports or comfort tires. The sports tires probably make more appropriate racing tires for a number of cars especially since GT5 grip levels are just constants.

Sometimes I wonder if the tires were just numbers (1, 2, 3, etc) instead of names, would people use sports tire more?

People have got it in their minds that if you're racing you should use racing tyres. I think comforts are normal road tyres, sports are semi slicks and racing tyres are slicks.

For racing cars I use racing hard (since I don't like the mega grip you get from softs) and for others comfort soft or sports hard. If a car is much above 550pp I might go for sports soft, but I do most of my online racing in 500pp sports hard rooms so that's what I usually race.

Most race cars don't allow you to modify weight reduction.

I only do weight reductions on cars that seem appropriate to do. If my car has an "aerodynamics" tuning option and it's speeds can carry excess of 200mph+, i add a stage to reduce a substantial amount of kg. I also only apply a carbon fiber hood on FF and sometimes FR cars to help balance a weight distribution.

Other than that I keep most cars stock. They feel more fun and challenging to drive when fast. Some cars I do question if it is even possible to drive fast when stock. The XJ220 takes some notion to this statement. Maybe it was the fact I had no aids on but I could barely keep the car on the track at high speeds.
 
I'm rarely overly "tuning". I'm mostly all about comfort softs and sports hards and light improvements the furthest I'll go is attempting to emulate FIA-GT4 spec cars.
But mainly I live in my own little fantasy world where I buy great cars and prep them for track days :-) Maybe an ecu change or air filter, stage 1 weight reduction. This is where the game experience feels at it's best to me as it falls short on a "motorsport" level.
 
First off, every car gets 77kg ballast to simulate driver weight the best I can.

For most road cars, I leave them stock or do mild (reversible changes)...a "BPU" of sorts (intake, exhaust, ECU, tires, fixed or adj. sports suspension).

For exotic road cars $75k+, I always leave them stock unless I have multiple.

For race cars, they stay stock unless Bob needs more power to win a race.

As for my personal favorite road cars, I typically have four of each:

1. Stock (except Sports Soft tires for most cars)
2. Mild Street Tune (usually no more than +100 hp over stock, first adjustable suspension, no-mild weight reduction, etc.)
3. High Performance Street Tune (+200-300 hp over stock, stage 1 or 2 weight reduction, full suspension, etc)
4. Max Performance Race Tune (RM if it's available, otherwise fully-equipped everything including aero, racing tires).

I keep my cars stock, but when I have one that's tuned I have the urge to keep another one stock.

That weight thing you do as a driver is a smart idea lol. 👍

I do the same thing, except that I have them for different events such as grip racing, drag racing, top speed runs, etc. Then depending on what cars I like, I always have the same car stock.

I have about 4 Integra DC5's in my garage: 2 for drag racing, a stock one with it's orignal Champ. White Paint, & one for touge.
 
Can I add in.. 'sympathetic and real world' upgraded cars?

I mean if you buy an lotus elise '96. Most people will have a sport exhaust and a better filter air filter. Some may decat and have a stage 1 head. Next to no-one is ever going to have a huge turbo etc.

It's all part of the 'fun'.
 
Stock is a well known word for my 1700+ undriven & zero switches (S) standard cars. Only some that are required for the campaign (Chevy SSR, 2J, etc.) are tuned. :)

My premiums are nearly all fully tuned. Nearly no need to keep them in stock condition, as you can use now the engine limiter or you can switch to stock parts (stock turbo, exhaust, etc.). :dopey:👍

But sometimes you need a stock version of one car (f.e. for some seasonals) where you can't rech a PP limit only by setting the engine limiter to 50% & switching to stock parts.
Had to purchase a new Citroen GT Road Car for the seasonal #14. :indiff:
 
I keep all race cars stock for sure unless I'm trying a tune for them or I need to power them up. Road cars I tune under my own will. I have a ton of stock ones, but there's so many tunes for the different ones in the game that you can't take your hands off them. They're mostly on Sports Softs, as well, so they're not totally over powered with the Racing Soft tyres everyone likes to over use. :D
 
I only leave my car stock if I am probably not going to use it in any other required event. Either that, or if I am confident I can win with it without needing to upgrade it to some extent.
 
Pretty much all my cars are stock and lately I've been using Calan_svc's tyre guide to find the correct tyres too. I've tuned like maybe four cars!
 
I used to tune all cars but now I have them semi stock.
I change suspension to fully changeable since we all know cars don't have the same suspension settings (Toe angle, I'm looking at you...)...
 
Out of the cars i use regulary i now have 2/3 or even 4 of them, 1 stck and the others in different colours and states of tune thanks to the seasonall payouts.

I bought two (or three) of a car. One that's fully tuned (or at least not stock in some ways anymore) and another that's stock. Only parts I bought for the car were tires to match the grips levels in real life or for whatever else.

i.e. got 5 bimmers M5 Premium, 3 M5's Standard.

A few small examples:

Performance tuning in GT5 is unrealisticly implemented as engine drivability and low end torque always remain quite good. Tuner cars, which are based on real life performance figures, show that quite clearly: most of the time they have worse torque/power curves than equivalent models tuned with "GT5 mods".

Weight reduction in GT5 also doesn't cause negative changes in weight distribution that most cars would have in real life, where most of the weight that can be removed is usually located more toward the rear axle than the front.
 
I buy a stock premium car and free-run it at the nurburgring northloop a couple of laps the hardest I can, then I tune it slightly until I can reach the leaderboards (Usually within 8 minutes 35 seconds) Best Motoring style xD
 
Well, do whatever u want. I say its a racegame anyway, i guess to be the fastest is the goal to achieve. But i can also understand if u dont want to change anything...but buy 2000 cars? Takes about 5 days netto!!
I meself get the informations of me friends if we want to make a race with the same cars: he tells me the weight and the power; u can charge the car with up to 200 kg, and as far as i know the balance isn't changed when u buy weight reduction, not many cars lose more than 200kg anyway. Done it a couple of times, and i didn't have advantages, the wins plit up fairly!
The easy version: just start random races with the same car, hope someday i can put the car online for races so everyone has the same car for that race with all the same specifications, but tuned by me!
 
Some cars like the MP4-12c, McLaren F1, 430 Scuderia, High End G37, Trans-cammer Mustang and RE Amemiya RX7 have all been left stock. But most cars only have minor modifications anyway. I'm not a fan of the uber tuned car.
