I don't get it... How can someone enjoy in NFS-U, or Burnout, or Crazy taxi, or Colin Mcrae over GT4, LFS, GTR, Richard burns rally...?? :grumpy:
WHY!!?? Is it because of the majority of gaming industry are children... ??
Why would you make a driving game to apeal them?? I mean, they grove up in thinking that cars behave like they do in NFS-u.... :)
But i know also many older people like from 15-30.. who also prefer more easy, ARCADE GAMES, where you don't have to bother, to watch when you brake, how do u take corners, etc... Why is that.... ??
Are people stupid or what, i think not... I mean how can someone enjoy in those arcade games, it is so frustratingly bad, and not intereresting...
And take a look at GT4... It is a great game, and great SIM, and yet they leave by default all AIDS ON... again to apeal to the MASSES!
GT4 would be much better and realistic(still is the most realistic to me) if there is not that thinking of MAKING GAMES EASY...
I mean i understand the need of playing just for fun, relaxing from a hard day at work.. but go play a GTA or something.. why would you wanna play a Arcade driving game...??
So which driving games do you prefer?? i would make a POLL, but i don't know how to...

I prefur SIM's.

I like some arcade games because they are very fun. In Burnout you get a huge sensation of speed and you need quick reflexes to prevent crashes in races so it becomes very addictive. It's one of the very few games that's actualy made me sweat. It's the same with Crazy Taxi, you've got humor in that and is pretty fun.

I still find SIM games fun, but it's a different type of fun. It's more competitive and you need to concertrate more, as with Arcade games, you're more relaxed and can have fun more easily.

Edit: By the way, below my post there's a Add a Poll to This Thread button.

Why Arcade games like Burnout?

Because people want to race in fantasy world and do things they can't here.
You crash in the real world like in Burnout, that's it....No more chances.

I prefer sims, but hardcore sims. There are sims like GT4, and Forza, and then there are sims like GTR, LFS, etc.

I prefer a good slice of all, but my favorite is the hardcore sim.

How can we enjoy them? Because they are fun. Simple as. I'd play burnout 3 over GT4 anyday, and I love sims.

Arcade style racing games allow you to do silly things, take track mania sunruse for example with it's insane loop dee loops and jumps, great fun that's simply not possible in a sim. Arcade games also usually have great sensation of speed, and many take just as much skill to play as a sim.

Amazingly. :D

Not to mention all you have to do is turn sharply.
But if you do too much in Burnout 3 you hit a wall and do ten flips in the air, so there's some steering control involved.

Arcadey style games can take ALOT of skill also, try MSR on the dreamcast, that baby makes GT seem like a walk in the park, though that's due to the insane difficulty level.

Anyway, Burnout 3 pwns, I refuse to believe there's someone alive who doesn't enjoy it! :D. Also, would Burnout 3 really be any fun if it was a sim? No. It would utter suck. Both genres have good points imo, it's like comparing a bacon sandwich to an egg and sausage sandwich, both are loverly in their own ways, especially with ketchup on. WTF why am I comparing games to food...

It largely depends on what kind of mood I'm in. If I just want to turn my brain off and drive around running into everything, I'll throw in Burnout 3. It's a good short-term, fun game to play.

But if I want to really race... then I head straight for GT4. It's not as much "fun" per se (with the yee-haws and whoops and such), but it's more satisfying.
