what do you think? I think there should be more cars in a race because I think it is boring with just 6. I think there should be about 12.

I would rather have six good ai cars then 12 GT3-ai cars. But yes, would be more fun with both smarter and a few more cars.

I guess I have never really thought of that. 12 cars would be great I think. It would be that much harder to pass all of them and also pit strategies would be alot more difficult because instead of worrying about when 6 cars pit you would have to worry about 12. On the long endurances, cars would be alot more spread out on along the track as well.

More cars would obviously be better, but you're running into the limitations of the PS2 to add too many more at this level of physics. That's why the Wet tracks only have 4 cars.

I've wanted this for a long time. But Neon Duke is right - six cars pretty well maxes the ability of the PS2. They'd have to lower 3D quality to get more cars on the track. I'm fine with that - are you?

I think the number of the cars on the track is fine. In endurance races, it would be crowded most of the time because you would always be in traffic.

Yeah, I would love there to be more cars in a race that would be sweet. I'm not complaining about the way it is now at all though I still love the game with only 6cars.

MotoGP3 has 22 bikes racing at the same time and if you don't qualify, you get to pass 21 bikes man:D
So, if you like racing in traffic I recomend MotoGP3. Solid game IMHO.👍

Question: Can ps2 handle that!?!?!

see the above posts..

i would like to see 12 cars too but i am not willing to compromise on graphics and physics as the others suggested may be a side effect.....one thing thats cool in Toca Race (i think) there is a cool feature that when you bump an opponent off the track, they remember it and hold that grudge and actively seek to push you off in a crazy act of revenge.....that would be cool in GT4...its more like real life.

Personaly i think it should be the full grid, but make it a little rpg'ish so that way the dudes your racin' agaisnt can upgrade their cars.

Four 2 player their should be like 6-8 extra cars out there....

6 is fine. I think more cars would be annoying. Especially on the longer races. But if you want more traffic you can always choose a slower car and take the battles in the middle of the grid. ;)

How would more cars be more annoying in the longer races, it would mean you'd spend more time racing with other cars than on your own.

Or for Australian players, they can wait at the side of the track to mouth off at you when you come around on the next lap. Then you can swerve at them ;)

and then after that you can walk into they're racing team and abuse them for being spun out, while at the same time you get told to just "let it go mark" or whatever your name may be ;)

you think the AI in GT3 are always running stock?....i dont think so...try running a stock car in the pro mode and find out...

The annoying part is when you're in battle for the first place, and then you suddenly need to pass cars you've lapped.
For example the 78 lapper at Cote d'Azur in the formula championship. I found it frustrating laying behind one of the slower car waiting for an opportunity to pass him, while the leading F1 slowly pulling away from me. That frustration of course gives you a greater satisfaction winning the race, but I don't think I would find it enjoyable to have 6 extra cars scattered all over that track.
But anyhow, thats just the way I feel. :)

my dream is 20 car grids, the type of grids you HAVE to qualify for, not start in last place and blitz the grid on the opening stight....but I am wel aware of the limits of the PS2....maybe GT5 will have larger grids on whatver next PSX there is....

That is exactly what I am thinking as well, but neon-_duke I have to agree with...

But that's racing. If you don't wanna pass cars then just go and do hotlaps.

Although having more cars (aside from the fact the PS2 can't handle more) would mean that the AI has to be better. In the GTR mod on the PC, I can run with 35 AI cars. And that's real AI, not the "AI" that GT3 has.
