Do you think chase cam is for noobs?

I usually use Chase cam, unless I'm racing or focused, in that case I use the Hood/Roof/Somewhere view.

If I used cockpit view and used a realistic FOV, I'd only be able to see the windshield. That's why I use normal view.

For me, chase is the only thing that feels like driving a real car.

I distinctly remember using chase cam often in GT1 and 2, before I was old enough to get my license.

I think this thread has been beaten to death. Use chase cam if you need it, but you don't really need it. Looking at your car is what replays are for.

I honestly think that it doesn't matter... Everybody has a different preference. I prefer bumper view, it feels more direct for me. It's like judging someone on the type of pencils they used in school-- all the types do the same thing.

No, I can see what's besides me without trying. It's something that the other views don't capture.
Well, now there's that "Blind Spot Indicator" thingamajig or whatever it was called. That helps a lot, actually ;)

Also, my spell checker knows that "thingamajig" is an informal word in English, but it's still a word. +1, spell checker.

Chase cam. Because my spacial awareness is a bit poor. I use the hood view (or the TV pod in F1 speak) when driving on my own or at night.

I'm only using chase cam for drifting and racing as well. I don't like at all the bonnet cam and interior view because they are fixed and don't move when I'm turning as in Rfactor and I like to contemplate my car lol.
In fact IMO a roof cam will be the best.

Also my personal observation: In Gt most people are using the bonnet cam because the chase cam suck if you compare to the Forza one and so on Forza most of people are using the chase cam.
When I say most of people I mean my Gt and Forza friends.

 watching you all miss the point is making me laugh.

If you're driving or racing a car in real life, do you use chase cam there, too?

Yeah, missing the point.
1st of all it's a game, argue what you want, you never get past the point it's a game.
real simulator? for €69 pre-order or €38,-- now?💡
These simulators are used to know the tracks, the real racing happens on the track.:)

2nd, i would need a big theater wide screen, a proper wheel, a seat the gives me the torque/speed/corner feeling to get some realism, but it still is not the real thing.:(

I real life, i feel the car in my whole body, i look down to the speedometer, it is not taking up 10 or 20% of my view.
I can turn my head in real life and see what's around, Cockpitview in GT6? try to look a bit to the side, in GT6 it's 90 degrees.
If i turn my head, my eyes keep seeing the road, it's not focussed, but i see it.
If i would be in a real racecar? my head would shake in every corner and with every gear change, doesn't happen in the game.
When i press brake, the screen goes down to simulate that the front of the car dives down.
in real life you feel it and your head/face/eyes adjust to the most view of the road.

Missing the point? Get in a real race car then you really race. Then you feel the car and most important, the adrenaline.:scared:
It is a game.

I use whatever works best for the game in question. Chase cam in GT feels awkward & very stiff to me, so I use the bumper cam, which feels the best by far. On the other hand, chase view is (IMHO) the only way I can play Forza as bumper cam just doesn't feel or work right in that game. Chase cam in FM just feels more natural than it does in GT, and it works much better. It's not stiff like GT. Cockpit view doesn't work in either game for me, as it just doesn't have enough of a filed of vision. Anyway, my point is that I use whichever view I feel the developer did the best job with & works the best on any given game.

All of this needs to be carved into stone somewhere...very well put!

I only use bumper cam without side indicators when racing or TT'ing...personally I feel like using chase cam (3rd person view) and the side indicators teaches you nothing about knowing what's around you and inevitably just hurts you in the process.

Opinions?

I've been driving on chase cam' since the game came out, which I note is nearly all your life span so to call people 'noobs' just because of their camera view preference is highly disrespectful. As others have stated, I actually enjoy the view of the car - I could quite easily ask what's the point of PD crafting those beautiful looking cars if you drive from the POV of a blank screen?! And also, as previously stated, I feel that I can respond to what the car is doing better as I can see the whole thing. And finally, bringing in the whole 'you don't drive like that in real life' argument is utterly pointless. This is a game and is meant to be played to a users preference and to gain enjoyment, not to be ridiculed and questioned by anyone just because they feel they are better than others.

I use chase cam for drifting mostly, but use bonnet or cockpit view most of the time, but I do switch between them three though. I don't see how this is a problem and also calling people 'noobs' for using it is beond a joke.
