Do you think GT4 is incomplete?

in an odd way, GT4 reminded me of that one early 90s blaxploitation-spoof, I'm Gonna Get You, Sucka... you know--where Keenen is in that hotel room, and he thinks he's going to be getting some hot monkey-lovin with a fi-i-ine girl... she slowly starts stripping away her parts... taking what you thought you were getting, and tossing it aside... wig (online play)... gone... eyelashes (paint-shop)... gone... stuffed bra (drag-races)... gone... colored contacts (racing modification with body-kit and 'sponsors')... gone... ample booty (cars you can only race solo or against one other car if it's a convertible)... gone... her frickin leg (hahaha--had to throw it in.. hilarious)...

all said and done, though, i played and will continue to play the bejeezus out of this game until GT5--it still had more than enough GT goodness to satiate me... :dopey:

Ha! That has to be the best GT4 analogy I read yet.
Good movie, too.

Cheers,

MasterGT

i am mostly happy with GT4. i do wish the AI was faster. the only way i like to get some good competition in GT4 is to drive my C5R against level 10 computers. even then i beat them by like 5-10 seconds. other than the AI it is close enough to perfect. the list could go on and on about the small details that can possibly make GT4 bad but in the end it is a great game. one more thing.......and i know i've been complaining about this forever along with others. it won't happen most likely, but i have hope. that PD gets Ferraris and Porsches in GT5. two reasons the ferrari 333SP and the porsche 962C! but i know.....what you guys are gonna say! its a 1 in a 100 shot for PD to get ferrari and porsche!

But then the old PS2 couldn't run the online well at all (and we all know that an online game uses a lot more CPU power than a single player one does) and certain cars couldn't be rendered smoothly with other cars on the track.

What do you do?

You do realise that the included LAN mode would use exactly the same CPU usage as online play.

You do realise that the graphics and physics ARE dumbed-down for two palyer mode anyway right?

So, wheres the problem?

Bingo! I couldn't put it better.

Besides, besides "flashy features" the only key difference would be how you pick the IP address of your contender(s):

- the current mechanism does a broadcast (blocked by most routers past the local net) and listens to all responders.

- For internet play you'd either have to specify the IP of the "host" (or use a host service that "announced players") and then the host would just inform the other players of all the IP addresses... all in all, about 1 day of coding for very basic internet play, maybe a little more if you have to add code to throw out slopokes on 64K modems.

Any excuse that says "internet play is hard" is pure baloney.

Ahhhh... I feel better now that that is off my chest.

Yes, it is imcomplete.

You cannot even chose your opponents Cars 👎 (though it is understandable when racing in Championships) , if you could I personally wouldn't have notice the lack of cars (Hot Hatch's, Coupe's such as VW Scirocco/Corrado,etc) or the 6 Car Grid as much.

They also screwed up the prizes for races.

I agree, 1 hour of time spent in Special Conditions races in the second race in Easy will earn you about ~1.3M credits and 24 hour endurance race is only 1.2M credits. Even when you compare the winnings from an 8-9 hour endurance race to others it's insane.

Yeah, but I think many more people would lose interest in the game if there weren't any "quick cash tricks" like that Special Conditions race.

It's not just you, we all feel a tad dissapointed with GT4. Just enjoy what we have and be happy.
i am very happy with what it came with, although racing modifications like the "original" GT and GT2 came along with would have been a beautiful bonus

When you have the Network Adapter you can only play LAN? Or can you play like with people from a different state/country and set up a race with them?

GT4 just isn't complete without the aspect of drag racing. They should've added it without incurring the aggravating delays during the development.

I think people have asked this WAAAAY to much. Does it say it has online cabaility on the front? NO!!!! LAN only. 👎 =your question

Calm down, Master_Yoda. Seriously. There is a way to play online, it's just a little complicated...

Imho it is incomplete. There are alot of things missing that could have not taken any resources. For example, restrictions. It's a bit frustrating to play a fully tuned Saleen against Mini's and Subaru 360's. Or... F1 cars.. can be driven on any course. And also, it looks a bit 'dumb' to me that when you drive F1 car rest of the competition doesn't.. i mean.. it's GT not Wacky Races.

Another thing is, the tyre sounds. It's pretty annoying, and it's been the same since GT1. Also, theres no such thing as crashing. Hitting an AI car is like hitting a 3-ton cement-box.

Bugs.. alot. Removed online features.. No point of arcade mode( i mean, in previous GT's you could always win new cars, bonuses. Now, nothing:ouch: )

but still, GT4 is, imho, the best racer available. Not the best simulator.. it's just fun, to drive, thats it:dunce:

Isn't it amazing that even with all the annoyances they introduced in GT4, it is still the best racer?

Of course, the competition is heating up... so I hope PD gets its act together for GT5.

Uncle Harry
They left out Ford versus Holden races.
What happened to the Drift competition, the bank and the paint shop? They were promoted pre release?
Any body want to drag race? That feature was promoted and what did we get? A time trial, big deal.
Arcade mode has a lot of bugs in regard to two player mode.

bugs in 2 player mode? what bugs ive never seen any

Best racer? Very arguable.

Best-selling console racing sim? No doubt.
