Xbox Sucks!
Personally I think GT5 was a bit rushed and I do miss a few things from GT4 but It turned out okay in the end

And I for one am going to keep my fingers crossed for new tracks in the not too distant future:tup:

Yea it was rushed but hey I'm happy with what it is and as long as updates and seasonal events keep coming I'll be happy.

Even though the posts above me have a point... Reading that last interview with Kaz I think it was rushed quite a bit... If he wouldve got his way we'd still be waiting for it to come out since he wanted 2 more years of development time... :D

I think they've done a fantastic job and I completley appriciate the years out of their lives they've put into it.

I'm a GT noob and have only played GT5 (not strictly true as I've recently bought GT4 but it was too crude and weird to get into after playing GT5 for months).

What else could PD do but release it when they did? I'm sure if they had a magic button where time stands still they would have pushed it and finished the game to perfection in their own time. But with everyone nagging and nagging to realease it the pressure was too great.

Personaly I would have sacrificed 100 standard cars to get hi-res shadows, and another 200 standard cars to get some more a-spec events but I believe the 1000+ cars was a marketing stratagy.

Its all about give and take when making a game this big.

After reading Kaz's interview I would say yes. Given that he wanted to wait two more years, missing a few manufactures and original tracks, and that he wanted to wait for the PS4. You can see what Kaz wanted the game to be by looking at the premiums, but sadly Sony wanted a GT game to win back it's relevancy in the Racing Sim segment. The only real thing I can hold against GT is the physics engine, with six years they should have been better able to simulate rain, snow, damp tracks, wind resistance ext...

So Kaz wanted to wait for the PS4 to make a racing sim for the PS3 eh? Why leave it there? Why not wait until the PS8 comes out and we have them implanted in our brains?

Rushed is one thing it wasn't. I'd say they probably focused on the wrong elements, considering other franchises seem to be able to knock out relatively frequent updates without the hassle, compromise and excuses.

Incomplete i would say. There could have been much more events with more laps and better AI in the game or even more laps as it is with what is offered, you can complete a series in what seems like no time.
Tracks are repeated through the levels and some great tracks are absent.Online special events do not compliment the game imo as they are short lived and so easy.I would have prefered GT5 all races to be like the FGT Championship and Historic races as far as difficulty goes instead of this waltz through that was offered. They should have a difficulty selection i.e easy, medium, hard, and extreme for each race so the player can play to thier ability instead of having to play a game which is too easy and aimed at beginners to appeal to the masses and sell more copies.I think to win each race should be like obtaining gold in the licences. I would rather not win and have to repeat the race many times to gain gold than to just meander through knowing gold is simple to get.
As for rushed well maybe but only with respect to meeting the xmas market and maximum sales.

Given the time frame, definitely poorly managed as said already. They got the meat of this game (game play) correct, but they completely ignored the little things, too many to list.

I don't think it was rushed, more so just poorly managed given the resources and development time.

^ Exactly. It did felt like it was rushed at some aspects of the game, esp. the A-Spec/B-Spec Modes.

I think they missed the gameplay element altogether. It is a good encyclopaedia of cars that let's you race and tune, but it is far too sterile. In places it is excellent, but in others it is poor.

There is not enough feel to the game and the tracks don't feel alive. The career feels like a list of races that need completing rather than a career that you progress in. I didn't get that with the older GT's.

It does keep drawing me back for the driving and I do not regret buying it, but I wish there was more. I think PD wishes there was more too and so yes, I think in the end they rushed to complete it.

I do think that GT5 was quite rushed but at the end of the day, I'm grateful for what Kazu has given us. Lol.

You mean you all got your copies of 5 free of charge from Kaz? i had to pay for my copy

Seriously, you wasn't "given" anything, you paid for it!

Obviously, even Kaz said he needed 2 more years in an old interview.

Obviously...and yet people still voted no even though Kaz admitted 5 was rushed

I haven't read the whole interview, so i don't know if this has been admitted or not, but i would bet my house it was Sony that rushed Kaz.

Hell Yes, the game GT5 itslef isn't bad, but for 4 years in the making its a dissapointment. The replay value sucks. There isn't alot of A-spec races. And after you win them (excluding endurance) There really isn't anything to do besides hop on online and try drifting, dragging, rallying, or circuit racing. Thats what I do.

Also the tune settings have stayed the same throught the series. Really the only thing that changed here is the gear ratios and ballast. Let use tune up the car, you can't just slap on a supercharger or a turbo on any car. Also the exhaust sounds suck!!!

My 750hp Dodge challenger with a racing exhuast shouldn't sound like a Honda.

The game took how many years to finish? I don't think it was rushed, I just think they tried to put too much stuff into the game which allowed for certain aspects of the game to be put on the back burner which caused the quality to fall a tad.

It wasn't rushed, just poor management. Though its undoubtedly better than any other racing-sim available.

You undoubtedly have never tried a racing sim, GT5 is not a sim, it's a racing game, calling it a sim is like calling the WWE a sport.

The game was not rushed, they had plenty of time to get it done. Sony probably just got tired of Kas's BS and realized he was never going to figure out how to get it right. Hopefully, Sony, or Pd, will dump Kaz and find someone that knows how to make a racing sim before GT6 begins developement.

I don't think it was rushed, more so just poorly managed given the resources and development time.

This is 100% right, like others have said. Classic case of mission creep. My impression is that the game expanded way, WAY beyond its initial goals to try and be all things to all people, which was simply not practical. It seemed like there wasn't anyone at PD that had the ability/authority to say, 'no we're not going to add this to GT5.' Kaz's ambition just vastly exceeded the resources at his disposal. Going forward, it needs to be clear that GT6, etc. should be focused on nailing the basics, accomplishing first what you originally set out to do, and then incremental improvements that are on-target and on-time.

The one good thing is that hopefully Sony & PD won't make this mistake in the future. The other good thing is at least GT5 came out being a pretty good game-it could've easily been atrocious...

+1

50+ people working for 6 years on a single sequel to one video game = rushed ?

odd as it seems - maybe so ...

I wouldn't say that. Kaz just takes forever to get things down just like Hideo Kojimma, however Kaz just can't agree on anything, Kojimma does. MGS4 was worth the wait, sadly GT5 isnt. Kaz just takes so long. lol If it was Kaz's way we wouldn't get GT5 untill next year. And I can guarentee you there will be more RX-7s, Skylines, and imprezas than you can imagine. lol
