Do You Think GT5 Was Rushed?

Kaz has said that (for one person) one car in GT or GT2 takes one day to make, one car in GT3 or GT4 takes a month to make, and one car in GT5 takes three months to make. He obviously needs to hire more modelers or outsource car modeling altogether.

Reduce the number of cars in GT6, and get back to the basics. Sometimes, trying to "Go Big or Go Home" is overrated and it cause the overall game quality and enjoyment to suffer.

lmao I wish he did with the mopars, not the RX-7s, Skylines, and the Imprezas

I dont think it was rushed I just think it was unfinished and they should have pplayed around with it more. Im happy with it.

This does not belong to the Q&A section. Q&A are meant for people who needs help, not people who wants to share opinions.

Of course and its sad to say cause im a GT addict but GT5 sucks right now Im sorry. Until more premiums or tracks Ive lost all intrest and online you cant even find a serious race unless u drag

I believe it was rushed...alot of stuff was left out from gt4 that would have made it better. But they sure didn't forget the ****ty cars nobody cares about lol. I love the game but since ps3 can do so much more than ps2 could hopefully in the future there will be multiple dlc (cars, tracks, etc.) Really miss Seattle and the drags on the test track!!

And I bet they lost a lot of time on the 3D feature which is pretty badly done! Why did they do that? Well, I one of those who made the big mistake of a buying a 3D TV (a sony by the way) just for GT5... Now it's a completely useless TV for me...

I know he has stated that, but if it really takes them 3 months to model a car, he needs to fire his 3D artists and hire some new ones that are more efficient.

They're supposed to be creating models for a video game, not mechanical designs of each individual part for manufacturing and production.

Yes.

If it took them until 2013 to get all cars premium, and the youtube replay uploader I wouldn't care.

How on earth is it possible to call a game that took 6 years...rushed?!Dear me...

They just didn't have enough time to make all of the cars premium, but they didn't rush the game.

I know it seems like an impossibility given the ~6 years, but in my opinion it still seems rushed given how many features of the game are half-assed. Thats where my thought on poor management comes into play.

Not rushed just Kaz taking the P and jetting off round the world racing on Sony's money in the name of "research" no doubt!

The strangest thing is the new cars from PSP, they surely must have taken detailed pictures etc and knew they would be in GT5 so why are they standard?
And why does prologue look better?

Give game assets to Naughty Dog if you can't be bothered to make quality games no more Kaz!

Kaz has already said he wanted more time to finish GT5 - so of course it was rushed, they didn't have time to finish it, they (Polyphony) would have had a frantic few weeks / months to get it to some kind of 'finished' level before releasing it for the Xmas market.

Look at the damage GT5 has done to the GT brand and Polyphony's reputation - would they have done that if it hadn't been rushed and there wasn't something else going on (i.e. possible 'pressure' from Sony to release it).

No way would GT5 have been such a shambles (upon release) if it hadn't of been rushed.

They didn't have time to fully test the final release version for any length of time and then fix the obvious and glariing errors that have been so widely pointed out by people like GTP.

That, IMO, is 'rushed'.

I voted "Who cares?" even though it's a fact that it was released earlier than PD preferred. It's a shame but I don't mind. It works to our advantage because I'm thinking that'll allow for two PS3 GTs. GT5 wouldn't have been finished until about 2-3 years before the release of the next Playstation, considering the PS3's 10 year lifespan, according to Sony. We're only halfway through so I'm hoping GT6 will release in 2-3 years, but we won't get it for probably 3-4 years.
It's best that GT5 was released now.

GT5 was not rushed. Its a complete game with lots of events and online, Who loses?

What I see are elements of an old racing game underneath one thin layer of new game. GT4.5 if you will.

Seems like they had a deadline to make so they carried content from one game into the new game they were working on.

Having played GT from the first title till now I can see the old just underneath the new....

Gran Turismo used to take months to complete and had replay value that lasted a lot longer than that. This game seems to be a lot less than that.

And to call it a driving SIMULATOR is a bit of a stretch. Not very realistic at all.

I'm hoping that PD will release some more game improving patches in the future to keep it alive till we get GT6...Rather than just patch holes in tracks..But I'm not going to hold my breath...

But the Premium cars are pretty....Thats about all its got going for it as it stands.....

I don't think GT5 was rushed but if they put me on the design panel for ideas that would be implemented in the game then you guys would be looking at the worlds best games. Check through the GTP Le Mans Race Series in Online Racing and a few of my posts are just random thoughts I have for improvements

If it was so complete - then why did Polyphony add features AFTER it was released?? Like:

Extra events
Time Trials
Drift Trials
PP system
Ballast
Power limiter
Online collecters dealership
Remote races

That's not 'complete' at all.

And let's not even go there about online connectivity and lag - so prominant in GT5 but not in other games?? The first full GT game to go online, and not all your friends can get into your lobby or stay there to race (on a daily basis), great - nice one Polyphony 👍

You're basically implying that because features were added AFTER release that the game is not finished. An example is Burnout Paradise, we got bikes in a patch.

I voted no, cause it isnt rushed, but jst not finished. And to me, thats a million times better then rushed

Yes it was rushed. PD didn't have 5 years to make it. Between GT4 and GT5 Tourist Trophy, GT HD, GT5:P and GTPSP have been made. Admitedly, GTHD and GT5:P are part of GT5's development process, but the game has changed a lot from those (notably the fact that cars have gone missing from them). It seems they got sidetracked with GTPSP and forgot about GT5, then a few month's before it's scheduled release thought 'oh 🤬 we forgot about GT5!' PD need to hire a few more staff and get their priorities in order to make GT6 a more polished game.

Some of the added features were advertised on the box and in the manual, or even mentioned in the game itself but were not present at release and had to be patched in. That, to me, screams "not finished".

Everything was in the game at release. Not sure where you're coming from
