We Know GT5 have a lot of car (800 maybe) from Old school GT3 or GT4.
the texture in Low resolution and contain a lot dithering.

Even we heard Kaz tweet were decide update some standard car into Premium.
This means some car may not be update.

However, some car in your favourite may Standard only.

Did you want PD update texture for Standard Cars?

The existing standard cars probably cannot be 'converted' or 'updated' to premium quality. PD probably has to choose certain cars and model them all over again.

Yes I would like higher res textures for the worst 100 or so maybe?

There are some really bad examples that Have been noted in other threads. I don't think all of them need re doing though?

I think they need to tune up the model too,
such as AE86 TRUENO.
The other is the R33-GTR, never made it right form GT1 to GT4.
Just the P version in GT5 have a good looking.

Didn't vote.

IMHO, Premium cars provide additional value for:
A) Those who enjoy cockpit view
B) Those who feel taking close up photos of every car is a priority
C) Those who don't fall into category A or B yet simply feel slighted because all cars are not Premium even though it doesn't really enhance game play for them. People like to be irritated, angry and outraged.

None of those items apply to me because my highest priority is to drive so I only see the cars' exteriors briefly and because I use the bumper cam view I never see the interior. For the way I use the game - driving - even the crappiest looking car still fits my needs. Premium or standard doesn't impress me when the vast majority of the 1000+ cars each have their own unique character.

If you had an poll option for "more tracks and more A-spec races" so I could have more driving options, I would have picked that because it's where I wish PD would devote their main attention when it comes to improvements.

The "non classic" cars look fine to me honestly. Gran Turismo 4 on ps2 in 1080i looked fantastic, and these cars still look good to me.

I find it hard to believe they don't have a high-res version of the GT4 textures hiding somewhere, it is common practice to work on a higher resolution than scale down for the final product.

Yes, most of the models are fine as they are... But some of the liveries on racing cars are absultely horrible. You can count the pixels and see the dithering in gradients. If they're not going make the models premium, this should be a relatively straightforward compromise. Texture maps are not that difficult to replace... They're just a 2d image, not a 3d model.

Standard cars look like crap. Most do anyway. I would rather no standards and more premiums . Having a 1000 cars that look a mess is crazy. 300 that look great is the way to go.
All standard cars are a huge shortcut. Why we accept having half of GT5 being just GT4 is beyond me.

Most anyway.

We don't need 10 different versions of the same car that only really differ by name in the game.
Maybe 2 to 3 versions of some. With genuine differences .

I agree, but I would still love to see them get updated. And certain ones be done to Premium.

I'd rather they worked on the ai, added more tracks (especially some of the ones from the older games), extended the A-spec career progression by adding double the number of race series and improved the wheel support by allowing us to adjust out the dead zone.
I'm really not bothered about how other people see the cars. I just want to drive. The cockpit view is irrelevant to me as I always use the bumper cam.

Does this address the jagged lines on the standard cars? That's the only real thing that makes me cringe with the standard cars.

i dont know why i feel kanonuri is ignoring us about these updates
before releasing gt5 he said that he will improve the game with huge updates and he will fix and put some things he didnt have time to do it
i really want all cars to be premuim

The game took six years to be less than half finished... I for one don't expect miracles overnight. If updates keep coming to test features on GT5 ahead of GT6 release, then I'd expect new gameplay modes, new races, new multiplayer features for GT5... GT6 will just polish all that up in one nice package with sharper graphics and support 30 car races.

Am I the only one thinking it's the worst thing they can do to the game ?
I feel like they will wast their time doing that.
I mean, there are so much things wrong in this game. The initial plan: Convert classic cars to premium, is enough.
(PD doesn't even do the engine bay :nervous: )

I'm guess that will be take 1 year to complete "GT5 Spec. II" (or something else)
I think PD spent too much time to build ONE premium models, that cause standard car issue out

I personally hope they just leave the standards alone and work on other things. If they have the time then sure but they will never have the time. Plus I rarely use them. Just my opinion.

Guess it depends on how efficient the sony and polypony digital are?

Then we already have an answer.

It's a road of no return now, they have raised the bar of modelling so high that they can't keep with the workload, and they can't back down either. So in GT6 even if it brings over all the premium model from GT5, it will feature around 400 non-duplicated cars, but with about one third of them not representative or desirable.

and on current gen hardware, you won't see much graphical improvement unless they give up the illusive 1080i.
