Looks a little bit like an MG6 married a Ford Fiesta.

Though I think the MG actually looks better. STOP GIVING CARS SUCH HIGH WAISTLINES IT'S UPSETTING.

since I'm 13 I get all this BS that they;re thoughtless posts? Puuuhlease. I know what I'm talking about, and it all comes down to opinions. And MY opinion is what I said above.

So Dodge made no real Dodge's until 53? I love classic Dodge's and I believe the D11 Luxury Liner is appalled.

Car doesn't look too bad but remind's me of the Volkswagon Golf CC 1 with a Dodge grill and Charger tail light's.

I like it, I like the way it looks and I actually like the name. It took me a minute to remember that the name was one from Dodge's past.. but really, times have changed and there's not room for another RWD V8 Dodge in the lineup. With all due respect to the heritage of the name, at least this car looks pretty darn good and should do well in the marketplace.

👍 to the new Dodge and it replacing the Caliber.

I always love the "It's my OPINION! That means I can say whatever I want and you're at fault if you question it or demand reasoning!"

Then, my teenaged friend, explain to me how you "know what you're talking about".
Why on earth does a 2013 Dodge compact commuter car have to have a V8? Why do all Dodges have to have V8's?

I've always been a muscle car fan and I cannot stand small engines or foreign cars for that matter!

I love the '68 Dart; however I think they did a sucky job in bringing it back. I've always looked at the Dart as a muscle car, not a freaking soccermom car (No offense).

It's not that you're 13, it's that you're being close-minded.

Why exactly?

The only reason older cars never used them is because they weren't able to get much power from their 6 cylinders and V8's so they didn't even bother with 4 bangers(would have taken ages to get to speed:lol:). With current technology they have 4 cylinders that can be rather quick.

That's what it was though, in fact most muscle cars were based on either compact or luxury models.

As a die hard fan of Mopars ... I don't like it.

Reviving an old name and using an Alfa platform to base it on ? FAIL !

C'mon Dodge division, it's about time that you come up with your own thing and leave the rest of the manufacturer's out of it.

At least with the GTO it was rwd with an LS1-2, although Australian car. Just that I don't like the name. If they came out with something like the FR-S with a V6, like a cheap 370Z, mild performance, the name would fit better. Oh well

Can't see enough of the car to pass judgment, but the name Dart doesn't bother me - maybe it's because the heyday of the Dart was WAY before my time. :dunce:

As for the engine, fours in general are underwhelming, but for what it is a four will do just fine so long as it isn't thrashy or buzzy or something. I personally like the thought of Euro-inspired small cars, even if it's masquerading as a Dodge. At any rate, it HAS to be better than the Caliber...

Zenith013
Always annoys me how I'm associated with people like this because I drive a 60's American car with a V8.

Erm I mean, I BLEED FORD BLUE!
I'm a bit of a musclehead myself, but I don't say "**** YOU!!!" to every single car that's foreign or doesn't have a V8 in it, like Camaroyenko does. I treat all cars fairly. ( Except for the Yugo, the Prius, and that horrid *****. <---- I had to censor that out or I'd take a lot of crap about hating that car)

The last one is Veyron?

I don't say F you to every foreign car. There are a very SELECT few I don't say it to.

Not even surprised. Not the first time they've taken an iconic car name in vain.

So iconic, it hasn't been used for 35 years...that nameplate today has only slightly more cachet than Volaré.

I'm sorry, but it's just not a true Dodge to me. A true Dodge to me has 8 cylinders, not 4.

Wake up kid, it's not 1970 anymore: The world isn't full of daily-driven muscle cars, and once you drive outside your town, your state, your region, you'll realize [gasp!] there's a whole other world out there.

It's odd, because I've driven a couple I4 Dodges that would destroy nearly every V8 Dodge ever made without a Hemi badge of some kind on it.

There was an almighty fuss on GTP when BMW looked like calling the 1M Coupe the "M1" from people who seem to think that a name is somehow sacred rather than just a bunch of numbers and letters used to sell a car.
Except BMW ultimately seemed to agree with that assessment.

Just saiyan.

It's too bad that manufacturers have moved away from high-revving, naturally-aspirated V-6s. Those would be a suitable compromise between fours and eights in my opinion.

I don't think Dodge needs ANOTHER high-powered V8. But, a nice V6 would've been nice. If they're gonna stick a I4 in it and give a classic Dodge name, they should call it the Omni. That this was little and fast. The Dart could be a nice Taurus/Cruze competitor, but as a replacement for the Caliber/Neon...no.

You mean Focus/Cruze. Taurus is a full size sedan.

Yeah, but Dodge blows their loads early.

A Dart will get more sales than AN Omni. That is until Dodge realizes that now that they've already used (blown) the Dart and Charger names (loads), they're unable to do a proper revival and get some real sales.

I agree, people act like the they forgot about the nicely built 2.2T. That was a I4 that was very potent in 1986. 6.5 second's to 60 is very acceptable from a Omni no? That put's it at the same 0-60 as both the 1990 Chevy Camaro Z28 and the 1995 Ford Mustang Cobra.

I say wait for them to give up it's number's then complain about it's engine. Then be beat in your V8 by it's SRT-4 model :).

This is the first Mopar in I don't know how long I actually think I'm going to like, even if it does remind me vaguely of way to many other cars currently for sale (I mean those headlight, they are right off a GTI right?)

I have a feeling Dodge is going to do really well with this, it should have a sound chassis and a good engine. No one will really care about the name other then a few muscle heads that think everything should be a V8. The average age for the buyer of the Dart will probably be under the age of 25, and they don't know what the dart originally was anyways.

All I know is I want to see what they do with the SRT version and I want to see if they end up making the hatchback they've been tooling around with here in Auburn Hills.

So, let me get this straight... A bunch of people who weren't even alive when the Dart was on sale, let alone being capable of picking the Dart out of a lineup of a slew of mediocre base versions of cars that eventually became legendary-ish vehicles are upset with Dodge using a name that is trademarked and owned by them?

Guess what? What Dodge wanted to have happen is happening. You're talking about the Dart. Before you even know what it is, you're up in arms about a car you know nothing about, and you're going to be sooooooo interested in what it turns out to be so that you can make a final decision as to what it is. In the end, Dodge wins no matter what the name is.

But, here's what gets me more than anything... People have complained for decades about how American car companies can't compete because they aren't keeping up with the changes in the marketplace. "Why can't they make a cars like the Corolla and Civic? They're reliable and get 40 MPG. I'd buy one in a heartbeat!" Chrysler takes note, and then they deliver on a product. Then they give you the car you've always wanted, and even sprinkle a little "Oh, and Alfa-Romeo worked on the chassis design!" bonus and what do all of you say in return? "OMG. THEY'RE CALLING IT A DART AND IT DOESN'T HAVE A V8! I WANT MY 11 MPG COMPACT BACK!"

Get off your idiot box, get outside in the world, and take a look at the cars that are selling best in the United States. You'd see that the overwhelming majority of them are decreasing in size, dropping cylinder counts, and in the end offer a premium experience at a lower price. Chrysler needs to make some significant changes with cars like the Focus and Cruze on the market. The Caliber won't cut it, and the Fiat owners have a wide variety of Alfa Romeo variants they can use that are easily adaptable to the American market. Why wouldn't you want an Alfa-developed chassis with a Dodge badge and a sub-Avenger pricing scheme? It will offer an incredible value, and will likely be a blast to drive on the back-roads.

Its time to grow up, stop your bellyaching. Sure, it would be great if Dodge, Ford and Chevrolet would build V8-powered compacts like they did in the '60s and '70s... But that just won't fly today. Take what you can get, and if this is as close as we're going to get to an Alfa-Romeo before 2014... This is going to have to be good enough.

I really hate it when people invent hypocrisy that isn't there to support their arguments.

Your opinion.

I'm 26 and I know a lot more about these cars than you think I know.

Now that is how you rant.

I think the most irritating thing about this "Dart" and the point you completely missed was...this isn't actually a Dodge. It's a re-badged Alfa Romeo Giulietta. Dodge has been pretty spot on when reviving dead badges. The Charger, Challenger and Avenger are all pretty good spiritual successors of their original counterparts. But, this "Dart" is not. It really does sound like it would be the spiritual successor of the Omni, which was Dodge's original small engine car. The Dart name just doesn't fit and it's a little...weird to see it on the new I4 carrier. This also has me worried about the new Viper. I wonder if they're just going to rebadge the 8C, toss a V10 in it and call it a "Viper" (Which would work 'cause it'd be even more unruly than the 8C is, but it's still not what I would really want to see.)
