but the C6 isn't the LS7...it's the LS2...And the blue devil's not running a normal LS7 with a supercharge bolted on, or they wouldn't be charging double..

Why would you compare a $47k vette with an $80k viper when there's a $65k vette that makes as much horsepower as the $80k viper?

Also, the blue devil has a bit of suspension and CF bodywork done to it too I believe. Part of that whole diet process...

Shob...No one's comparing the C6 to the Viper, read the rest of the posts.

Blazin stated:
"Uh I work with the C6 at work, the engine can take supercharging, not insane boost but it will take 5-8lbs. The Blue Devil is a supercharged with 5 lbs. and it makes up to 700hp.'

Then I said:

"but the C6 isn't the LS7...it's the LS2...And the blue devil's not running a normal LS7 with a supercharge bolted on, or they wouldn't be charging double.."

I never compared the C6 to the viper....And second we already addressed the issue of price..As you know, when you go to buy a 80k viper... You pay 80k.

Now I don't know if you had the chance to see a Z06 at the dealership when they debuted, but their MSRP was 48,000 ish. However they went for prices in the 60's.. Hell, they still go for 53,000.

Dealers KNOW people would pay more than 65k for the vette, if you think it's going to SELL for 65k then you're one huge optimist.

You know that 150K Ford GT? 200k easy..

As for the BD, yes I know they did some CF panels and suspension tuning but I think there's a little more work done to the engine than just Chevy slapping on a Supercharger, and leaving the engine alone. They wouldn't double the price for some CF panels and dialing a ride in. Not to mention that wouldn't make for a very "economically sound" car..Which is what they claim the BD to still be..

Is it just me, or has anyone noticed that it looks like that viper sits really high :odd:

Yeah I noticed that aswell.

I'm well aware that the C6 uses an LS2 in it., however I work on the C6 program I should say, which includes the Z06. All the Z06 really is a C6 with a big ass engine. The LS7 can easily handle a supercharger with stock inners.

The Blue Devil is supercharged running about 5-6psi, it bumps the numbers to around 700.

While I respect your opinion, I don't really understand it...the SRT-10 Coupe looks almost the same as the GTS; the only serious difference is in the front (which matches the convertible). The driver compartment is the same, the back is very nearly the same...

Seriously, this isn't a flame, I'm just confused.

EDIT: Replying to Pink the Floyd.

Oh, one more thing...I just realized that I have not seen any of the SRT Vipers with their doors open...from the pictures of the coupe, it looks like the door hinge is at the back of the door and not the front. Can anyone confirm this?

Even the first gen Vipers stood pretty tall to me but I think they might have raised it to save the underbody more because of stuff like the lip on the first gen. They sold a "lip protector" for it.

inferno
I was really hoping for 600 hp this time. That 8.3 liter V10 seems way to laid back at 500 hp and the viper is heavier for sure. The SRT-10 coupe may have already lost here.
The thing to remember is that big ol' V-10 is making 525 lbs of torque. Not only that, but it's making 475 of that from 1500 rpm - just off idle to the peak around 5,000. With a torque curve that flat she can afford to carry a few extra pounds.

Not that I have anything against the 'Vette, I like both the C5 and the C6.

tidbit of info:

300ft lbs at 2000RPM's
482 (at the wheels, at 3700rpm)

K&N - 502 at the wheels..At 3700rpm

That's not what I heard. I read it's got 85-90% of peak torque from 1500 up. I don't have a chart to back it up, though, so I'm not going to press the matter with you.

It's not a chart, but here's what the first link I posted says:

The magic numbers for the Dodge Viper SRT10 are 500/500/500 — representing 500 horsepower, 525 pound-feet of torque and 505 cubic inches of displacement. (That's 8.3 liters, 372 kW, and 712 Nm). Ninety percent of the torque is available to the driver across a wide band -- the 1,500-5,600 rpm range.

Again, it's not a chart, so take this with however many grains of salt you wish.

I agree with Radicool02, its great but I like the GTS styling better.

712Nm 👍

The GTS has much of smooth lines, the SRT in my eyes, is a block

Very, very nice torque.

Though, I find myself wondering if the coupe's V10 has been tweaked for 2006, since it's said to have an even flatter torque curve.

Jesus look at that torque...Well over 450 at 2000RPM....That's amazing for a damn STOCK car priced at 80g's

Here's a Stock dyno

I know it's a little late to bring in the paddles, but here's yet another nice picture of the SRT-10 coupe...in Viper Red:

I believe they confirmed that was a photo shop then again it's been awhile since I looked for the GTS. :D

Personally I'm not really all that enthusiastic about the GTS ( well yet! :dopey: ) It seems a little confused whether it's a first gen or a second gen Viper. I have to see it in person I guess. I'm starting to warm up to the New SRT-10... The sound will do that I suppose. :sly::dopey::drool:

I wonder...should Dodge have just kept the "GTS" on the official name? While there is plenty of difference, with these old colors coming back and such...eh, maybe it's just sentiment.

BTW, although it's just some scuttlebutt I heard, there's supposedly a new ACR Viper coming out that's based off the SRT-10. Somebody early in the thread was wishing for more power...this could be it. 👍
