Does Anyone Watch Wrestling? (WWE, AEW, TNA, NWA, etc)

I think they may be re positioning NXT as a full on brand instead of just being a "development" level promotion. First off is the obvious fact that 2 NXT champions appeared on Raw*, them suddenly being full time would pretty much kill any excitement for the next TakeOver. Secondly was the announcement that the female tag titles would be defended on Raw, Smackdown and NXT. I'm also fairly certain that I heard not to long ago that some main roster stars could go to NXT. Regal is also going to be making a "special announcement" on tomorrow's episode of NXT, which may or may not be related to the off happenings surrounding the main roster.

I think that would actually be a great move as well since NXT works a considerably lighter schedule. They would be able to let the main roster wrestlers take a break from the road while still keeping their name in the minds of fans.

There were 2 endings filmed for the Gargano Vs. Dream match where each won, so there may have only been 1 champion on Raw. Even than Ciampa will obviously be main eventing so it would seem rather dumb to essentially spoil that match.

Smackdown also had the NXT guys that were on Raw, Aleister Black faced Andrade, Gargano and Ciampa faced The Bar and Ricochet took on Eric Young. Also Mandy Rose pinned Women's champion Asuka.

In the main event there was a six-man tag with the Chamber participants and Kofi pinned WWE Champ Bryan for the second week in a row. after which Shane came and made Bryan defend his title against Kofi at Fastlane, now of course I like that idea but I find a PPV just seven weeks before WM to be pointless.

Big breaking news that WWE Tweeted out a little earlier, Roman Reigns will return to Raw this coming Monday with an update on his leukemia battle.

Happy to see Roman pay a visit, even if it's just to give a "Not to much longer until I'm back" promo.

Also, Hideo Itami, Tye Dillinger and TJ Perkins have officially been released.

Tye Dillinger never really did anything when he was there and his biggest moment came when he debuted on the main roster in the Royal Rumble a couple of years ago at number 10, he got a big pop that night.

TJP was the first Cruiserweight Champion of the 205 live era and its a real shame for Itami as he had two massive injuries, who know what he might've achieved if it weren't for that.

The New Japan Cup is beginning March 8th, runs through to the 24th.

Unlike the G1, this is your classic single-elimination tournament. Unlike last year's NJC, the field is doubled to 32 competitors. Also unlike last year, prize for winning is narrowed down, with the winner challenging Jay White for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at the G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden on April 6th.

Opening round matches (3/8-3/11)

  1. Yuji Nagata (2007/2011 winner) v.s Tomohiro Ishii
  2. Tomoaki Honma v.s Taichi
  3. Manabu Nakanishi v.s YOSHI-HASHI
  4. Juice Robinson v.s Chase Owens
  5. Kazuchika Okada (2013 winner) v.s Michael Elgin
  6. Mikey Nicholls (of TMDK/TM-61 tag team fame) v.s Hikuleo (adopted son of Haku aka one of the toughest men in wrestling)
  7. Will Ospreay v.s Bad Luck Falè
  8. Toa Henare v.s Lance Archer
  9. Hiroshi Tanahashi (2005/2008 winner) v.s Shota Umino (son of New Japan referee Red Shoes Unno)
  10. Hiroyoshi Tenzan v.s David Finlay
  11. Kota Ibushi (2015 winner) v.s Tetsuya Naito (2016 winner)
  12. EVIL v.s Zack Sabre Jr (2018 winner)
  13. Togi Makabe v.s Colt Cabana
  14. Toru Yano v.s Davey Boy Smith Jr
  15. Satoshi Kojima v.s Minoru Suzuki
  16. Hirooki Goto (2009/2010/2012 winner) v.s SANADA

Roman's cancer is in remission so he will be able to return in time for Wrestlemania (perhaps against Dean since he didn't join him like Seth did). :D

Edit: Apparently Batista is also back!

the opening segment of Raw with Reigns was fantastic and I'm delighted that he is remission and he is returning to in-ring competition soon.

I don't think anyone was expecting Batista to gate-crash the party let alone attack Flair, everyone was expecting Becky.

Crowd were much better last night.

I'm a bit confused as to why so many people think that the opening segment with Roman was great. I mean, it's nice and all and I'm very happy to hear that his health is okay and he should be able to get back to work. But a very long dry speech of what amounted to "thanks, I missed you guys but I'll be back soon" was in no way a good segment to me, just a nice sentiment. I'd take one of Triple H's 15 minute monologues over that any day(that's not a request btw).

I thought the rest of the show was pretty fun. During the show, I saw somebody say Charlotte was working a Smackdown house show at the same time so I figured that there was no way Becky was going to crash the party if SHE wasn't there. Batista was a nice surprise though, even if I don't have much interest in the match they're setting up it's a good way to get the ball rolling.

Biggest surprise of the night for me was that for the first time in I think ever I actually didn't mind Lio Rush being on my TV. That and the fact that Lashley actually gave a solid performance whilst yelling at him.

Kevin Owens is replacing Kofi for Fastlane. If they don't end up putting the belt on Kofi at Wrestlemania they're going to have a riot on their hands.

You can say the same for Becky Lynch not getting the Raw belt, or much worse... Charlotte getting it :lol:

Honestly, unless they do something quick I have a feeling they will lose the crowd by the time Wrestlemania gets here. With Becky being "suspended" a lot of weight has been put on Rhonda's shoulders and she just isn't good enough on the mic to build this kind of match by herself.

Good to have KO back, even in these circumstances!

They changed one of the advertised matches last night, it was originally Gargano v Cesaro which a number of people were looking forward too but instead it was the Hardy's back to take on the Bar.

I guess the rumor now is that Ciampa may have a knee injury after all. Not sure if that had anything to do with why they switched that match or if it was simply because Matt was ready to go and it seemed like a good idea at the time. They looked pretty good. Or maybe Vince just isn't feeling Gargano and Ciampa. He seems to be pretty big on Ricochet and Black although I have no idea what they are doing to Black's character right now.

I'm guessing the KO switch will result in Kofi's shot(and hopefully win) being at Wrestlemania. That should be a great moment.

Can someone explain to me Lacey Evans' random appereances??... They are wasting time with those

She's not a very good wrestler yet but they think she's a star so they want to get her out there, but they have no idea what to do with her? Seems about the only thing that makes sense. As sad as it sounds I'd have rather had 30 seconds more of Natalya vs Ruby than that.

They're trying to keep her in the spotlight but the crowds are obviously starting to not give a **** anymore. I suppose it's marginally better than what they've done with most of the others from her NXT "class." Although EC3's impersonation of a statue last night was rather hilarious :)

Having her coming out and not deeming all the Nasties worthy of doing anything is I guess an okay story, but she's not doing a lot to really sell that "you aren't worthy of my attention" part, just doing a modeling walk and turn on the ramp. It will probably make it seem really important when she does finally say/do anything(let's just pretend she wasn't in the Rumble), but if she doesn't do something great when she does it's going to be rough.

What I can't figure out is why Renee seems to like her?

Edit: My first hated heel as a wee lad, King Kong Bundy has passed away :(

Just watched Raw, cant really comprehend all the twists that happened with the Raw Women's title situation, it seemed to me like too much happened in one night, and I'm not sure about Ronda's heel turn....and the timing of it.

That was a weird show all the way through(I'd like to believe that's why the crowd seemed a bit blah at the end). I have no idea what they've been trying to do with that story and why they couldn't just go with what seemed most obvious, but at the end of the day we get to exactly what everyone expected: A Charlotte v Becky match to make Wrestlemania a triple threat(that while it might not be what the story/fans want will probably make for a better match).

Of course with Becky re-instated her WM match should probably be back on and it should be Charlotte fighting to get in, but if we start getting into details with this one we're all doomed.

Tommaso Ciampa will have surgery on his neck and will miss Wrestlemania weekend. No idea how long he will be out for, or if he needs to drop the NXT title.

Big announcement from WWE today which is that next years Wrestlemania will be from Tampa Florida.

Am I the only one who's bored of WM coming from the same places every year?. New Orleans, New York and Florida....on repeat.

Jushin Thunder Liger will retire after next year's Tokyo Dome show.

Also, I have to give WWE credit for actually making Fastlane more than a "PPV that solely exists so WWE hits their PPV quota" show that it usually is. Granted I'm not expecting any massive swerves, but I'm interested to see how they continue building several of the ongoing storylines.
