Comparing lap times on GT6 with both a DS3 and a T500 RS, I am nearly a full second faster with the wheel (track and car dependent of course). I can be more precise with accelerator, braking, and steering inputs.
I got a DFGT mid stream in GT5, but did not like it very much at all. I was a lot slower and it was more like "work" than playing. But I've used it exclusively with GT6 and my speed and consistency is far above anything I was able to do with the controller in GT5. As mentioned above, consistency will be the first thing that improves in a big way and your laps will eventually get better because of it. And tire wear will improve as well.im 33 years old and ive been playing video games my entire life. i bought a g27 almost a month ago. it is also my first expierence using a wheel, as ive always used a controller. im really loving the wheel, and i would never race with a controller ever again. but i will be honest, my lap times are slower with the g27 than the ds3. i guess it just takes some getting used too. im about 1.5 seconds faster on the ds3. i also swapped the clutch and gas springs around, i find the stiffer gas pedal easier to feather / control.
THIS!At this precise moment it's not the right time to buy a wheel. Wait a bit until there's confirmation of which will be supported on the PS4.
THIS!
To the OP. I personally made the step from DS3 to G27. At first I was a lot slower even on tracks that I thought I knew. Then came the understanding what exactly I feel from the wheel ... and the lap times decreased. I beat my best times with the DS3 on GT5 and GT6 sometimes with a full second, which for a 30 sec trial is much.
But, as I said, I think you can wait a bit.
