Does painting DLC cars remove decals etc?

Does anybody know if painting the current DLC vehicles paints over any of the graphics that come on them? (as in both decals and/or stripes etc) Like everybody else, I SO hope we eventually get a more customizable paint shop, though for the time being it'd be nice to simply know the answer to the above question.. I'd like to color match my new, pimp Miata, to my real one out front. 👍 (but not if it'll wipe out ALL the graphics) I suppose if nobody answers, I'll eventually try it on another car I don't care about as much, but figured somebody else had already gave it a shot by now. Either way, I'm glad we can change the rims! Hopefully we'll get more of those eventually too, and sizing etc.... ahh, one can dream.

As always, thanks in advance.

It won't paint over any decals - in some cases it can change their colours completely. This is quite an annoyance on the GT-R TC - on that, the parts painted in colour shift are actually considered decals and don't get removed by painting.

Thanks for the info man.. I suppose I'll try painting her up & see what happens. (and if I get particularly bored, take a pic & post it here :p) I wish the stripes would stay as well, but yea. C'mon PD, many of us would even pay for a halfway decent paint-shop!! Hmmm, maybe I'll join twitter &.. or wait, methinks not - cause twitter's EEVILLLL! :yuck:

Just paint the car, and if you don't like it, just quit the game before you leave the painter/GT Auto. The game only saves, when you leave GT Auto. This way you can preview paints on a car without loosing your chips.

Oh sweet, I'd been wondering exactly when it saves that info! I used to do the same back in the memory card days.. just pull the card and/or make multiple saves etc. Thanks! :D:tup:

NICE TIP!!! 👍 Thanks for that one!

For the record, "Dark Blue Mica" doesn't appear to displace ANY of the DLC Miata graphics! (the "first" DLC Miata, just in case anybody ever search's this & PD actually gives us more beloved MX-5's) The color of my real one is "Starlight Blue Mica" and the "Motegi Touge" rims are pretty similar to '96M rims as well. 👍 If only they used one of the more molded wide-body kits to model after & had given us a CF hood, (with graphics).. oh well, can't have everything I guess. :p

(totally off-topic.. this spring I gotta decide if I wanna get the real car re-sprayed or buy a TV big enough to give me a life-size Miata windshield in GT5. choices choices!)

I am glad to help :) .

But be carefull. Some time ago I accidentally quit GT Auto after trying 15 or so rare paints on a car. Not good ;) . But of course you can back up your savegame if you want to be totally safe.

I'll have to look into that. Realllly wish the whole paint setup worked differently, but them Japanese.. they like to make stuff all rare & exclusive and whatnot. :p

I actually like it as it is. To collect all the stuff, including paints, is an important and funny part of the game in my opinion.

Eh.. I like to actually use my paints, and would like to easily be able to more than once! (as in, no multiple accounts/trading back & forth between friends etc) What's fun about collecting "paint chips".. Sounds kinda similar to people who buy (real) cars & then don't drive em. :p

You misunderstood me. I am collecting paints to use them. And if you play the game, and perhaps make a few deals on this site, you'll have the paints you need. I have only one account, and I have never dubbed, but I still have almost 2000 different paints, and I have many of each of the paints I like the most. Yes, I think it is a fun part of the game. As an example I like to send let's say 5 rare paints to one of my friends as a surprise :) . Besides, it is still very easy to earn a lot of money quickly in the game, and you can get most of the good paints just by buying cars in the Dealership. It's not a problem at all.

It's paint, I don't wanna have to deal with other people to have multiple cars the same color, lol. I think the latest one I realllly like is one of the "rare" colors that came in the pack ya get with this first combo DLC, which I assume means I won't find it elsewhere/within the game. To each their own I guess, but it's just frikkin paint... :p
