Does the wing type matter?

I've been reading through the tuning forum trying to get a better understanding the process of how to tune cars so I can work on my own. I got distracted my the Mad Finns post and one thing that struck me while I was browsing the tunes was that the specific wing choice was listed.

Question: Where there is more than 1 wing available, does it matter which you choose, or do they all accomplish the same thing. Until now, I have simply been selecting the more visually appealing wing when I thought I needed one.

Question 2: If this has been answered somewhere else, could someone provide the search terms and filters to find it? I spent about 15 minutes using both the site search tools and google and didn't come across anything

Wing type doesn't matter. It's all just a matter of personal choice.

Tuners will list the Wing type along with type of wheels used and the color paint so others can duplicate their tune exactly if they want to. It also prevents having to answer a string of questions regarding what is such and such.👍👍

I do not believe appearance changes it at all, however, having one and not having one does. Having a wing one is like having your car glued to the ground as opposed to without where you are moving all around. Run it around Daytona or some wide, high speed, open course and it is easily noticeable. As for which one, I always prefer the carbon black one, looks the best.

Wing affects every type of cars!!!!!

*facepalm*

He's not asking if wings affect the car, he's asking if the wing type affects a car's performance.

i.e,

Does a Type A wing provide more downforce than Type B? And the answer is…no. Not at all. You can have a tiny boot spoiler which provides as much downforce as a full on GT wing in GT5. Odd, but that's how things work in the game.

I'm actually wondering if the Aventador's Type A wing performs different to Type B and Type C. Type A bolts onto the existing spoiler, which raises up and down, which would change the downforce on the fly, right?

Type B and Type C are just like every other spoiler in the game, they just replace the raising wing completely.

Maybe I should test it myself, eh?

It depends on the Game Physics I would think. If that is what controls it, I doubt it would make any difference, as they can all be changed to the same settings, and as far as I can work out, the pop up spoiler makes no difference. (Correct if wrong, I never drive the Aventador anymore anyway.)

the wings on the 1200 beetle from the DLC does give diferent pp to the car.. the smaller one gives a bigger pp... does that mean anything?

I bet you it's down to the immense drag created by the whale tail wing.

But seriously? Well then, useful advice right here, if you want a VW Beetle for a low PP, run it with the ruddy massive plank! :dopey:

A good way to check how a foil work with more or less aerodynamic down force, is the way the car is flying.
Go on eiger ,the bump after the starting line for example, check differents downforce value, at the same speed, check if the front land first or same time or rear first .....
This show also the weight repartition of any car.

Do you happen to have a bigger pic? I would love to make that my wallpaper.

The only difference that I've noticed is with some cars you are able to choose a 'Factory Spoiler' which does appear to have less downforce settings than the generic add-on spoilers.
