It took me a bit of time to find this thread. As far as I'm concerned, it should be filled with thank-yous to the staff and contributors and be at the top as a sticky.

In any case, I would like to thank all those who contribute to this forum. This is my first post and I haven't been here a long time. I have, however, played GT3 and 4 for a substantial period of time, and reading through all your wonderful posts and trying out your tricks and tips certainly breathed new, exciting life into these great games. Thanks again, and know that all your efforts are greatly appreciated!

Well, we're glad you decided to sign up and speak up! Welcome to the world's largest and most active GT community. I'm looking forward to reading your contributions.

You also get brownie points for searching out an existing thread and extending the discussion, rather than simply starting a new thread.

Again, welcome, and enjoy it here.

Yeah, good job searching for this thread instead of making another one (like the average new memeber might do), and Welcome to GTP.👍

This is a nice and helpful site. I've relied on it heavily for guidance as I've been playing through GT4. I do very much appreciate it. However, I find the atmosphere a little on the stiff side. It's not as loose as other sites I visit. When I join a site, I usually post a thread to survey what kind of responses I get. A test, if you will, just to get an idea of whether it's my kind of crowd or not.

For example: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=93548 . The results were interesting. Some were helpful, such as Famine who concerned himself with only providing the facts. Others chose to pick at my stated reluctance to play, or leave my PS2 running for very long lengths of time. Swift took my mathematics too literally.:) I tried to take the conversation in a philosophical direction, questioning why short events were given the same percentage towards completion as the longer ones, but no one caught on. They basically stated the obvious that get 100% you need to do all of the events, regardless. I sent PMs to both Swift and Toronado to explain my position and to be sure there were no hard feelings. Swift responded, Toronado did not. No biggy.

I've been monitoring other threads as well. Other sites I visit usually "get" the gist of the topic right away. Here, the members seem a little quicker to nitpick. I'm not complaining, please don't get me wrong. I actually understand it all to a point. With so many members, crowd control has to be stepped up. I just wanted to pass on the observation, is all. Of course, I expect to be lambasted for conducting the test, but it's okay. It's just my way.

That said here's a big 👍 for the tireless efforts of Jordan and his Mod staff.

Welcome one and all to the greatest show on earth.

I might be strange, but that's something I love about this site. When I wish to know something about any of the games, I'd like what one could consider an "expert" answer. If you look hard enough here, you almost certainly will find an answer that fits that definition. These games are fun, but they are also serious, requiring a firm commitment of time and effort if one wishes to do well. When there is a difference of opinion on some matter of the games, the difference is rationally argued and tends to be resolved, at least from what I've read.

On the other hand, there certainly are people with different approaches to these games. Some like to play around with cheats and glitches and others simply like to play just for the heck of it once in a while. As long as they're enjoying the game, I find nothing wrong with that.

As a sidenote, the most valuable information I've found on this site, at least for improving my racing ability, refers to the settings on TCS and ASM in GT4. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed a difference in those two between GT3 and GT4, and the expert advice here has greatly improved my lap times.

Once again, thanks to all for their contributions. If one wishes to truly succeed at GT4, it's not for the faint of heart, and just about everything one wishes to know about the game is here for the taking.
