Different method to my own but i see what your saying. Now i understand why you seem to be against DLC.

Wasn't so much disputing what you were saying but rather clarifying how I look at it...

I am always skeptical about stuff like DLC... basically very few changes are ever just "good for the consumer" it's almost always a way to get more money from you and honestly it irks me that so many people don't see through it... flimsy rationlizations fly around (not calling out anyone in particular) which results in people supportinng the DLC methods that I think are in fact ripping us off.

Basically what DLC should have been was aftermarket kit and what it turned out to be was the dealership stripping your hubcaps and radio out of your car, then selling them back to you after you already paid full price.

Why is anyone asking for DLC BEFORE the game is released! Its that kind of mentality that makes developers think they can hold finished stuff back that could have been boxed to rip you off sometimes even at the day of release.

Everything done for the game should be on the disk all the way up until the date they go gold. Period. I don't think we should even hear the word DLC for GT5 till months or even a year after release.

Robin.

I agree we should be in such a hurry.
Said that, I would really love to receive DLC car packs in the future. That will keep the game up to date. I think this is reasonable.
It will probably be more difficult to have new tracks via DLC, but we never know..

DLC: updating all of 800+ standard models with interior detail.
I said about this earlier I think the best think for PD will to put in updates which give cockpits to the most popular standard cars for free. Then giving us tracks for old gt games for free and charging us for new tracks.

Good thread this, some decent debate going on.

I dont want to have to go and buy extras as for any game, I agree that DLC is just a way of fleecing more money off us gamers, and I would never ask for DLC for a game before it is even released.

I am just a realist, and accept that with this title, no matter what the cost, I will most likely be happy to pay for any DLC.

I will come right out and say that I don't think DLC for standard car cockpits will be coming along at all and that if it does it will almost certainly not be free.

I hope I am wrong.

The Gran Turismo series has already featured DLC before (Prologue: GTTV content, European update, GT by Citroen, Lotus Evora, Ferrari California, etc). So I think its pretty likely we will see more DLC for GT5 in some form. Considering the length of time it took to complete Madrid I wouldn't be surprised if there are/were some circuits that were going to be in GT5 (or may still be as they are still working on it right now) that don't make it due to time constraints.
I'd personally be perfectly happy to pay for such DLC if its a reasonable price.

I love Harmonix' style the best - all of the DLC released for the Rock Band series is compatible with both Rock 1 and 2 and now with 3 as well. Of course, Gran Turismo doesn't have as frequent releases like that series but I think DLC can be done well if its designed in a thoughtful manner and as long as the core game isn't completely bare of content.
