Doom III GOLD!

GTChamp2003
The second PSU will be for The GeForce 6800 since it requires it's own power supply.Price was high but it's definetly worth it.Don't think i'm rich or something,i have a full time job and the company paid for it hehe.
What,you thought i would lay down $4000 for a PC.Haha,i ain't crazy you know.

It requires its own PSU?!?!?!Holy Crap. How much juice does that thing suck in?
Is the 6800 actually better then the X800?

Anyone know if iD is releasing a demo before the release?

Mobo: Asus SK8N Motherboard
HDDs: Western Digital Raptor 74gb 10000rpm & Western Digital SATA 250gb 7200rpm
CPU: AMD AthlonFX51 64 bit 2200 Retail
RAM: OCZ PC3200 2048mb Platinum Dchan
Graphics card: Sapphire Radeon 9800XT Ultimate
Sound card: ST Audio Media 7.1 Sound Card

see what this beast is made of when DOOM III comes out, it runs Far Cry fast on full spec 75fps soo lets see what DOOM runs like :)

Is the 6800 actually better then the X800?

They are pretty much the same,The Geforce having the CineFX 3.0 Shading Architecture wich will be usefull for upcoming games that use that feature. Also has the UltraShadow II Technology(Designed to enhance the performance of shadow-intensive games, like id Software’s Doom III).
The X800 on the other hand doesn't need it's own PSU and still performs better then the Geforce 6800 on high resolutions(1280 and above).Other then that the 6800 is superior.

Here are the minimum specs for Doom 3 as said by Todd Hollenshead :

-1.5Ghz P4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500
-384MB of RAM
-2GB of hard drive space.
-An nVidia GeForce 3 or ATI 8500 graphics card

So it's most likely that you will have to double the specs above to be able to run this game at around 30-40 fps on max settings.

Right now my rig looks similar to yours Viper_Maniac.
I have AMD Athlon XP 2100+,1 Gig of DDRAM,and the same videocard as you but in 2 weeks time my Alienware monster will arrive :mischievous: .
I'm not going to post any specs of it,don't want to make you guys jealous hehe. There will be 2 power supply's,up to you to figure out why hehe.

I am in a similar boat to you, I will be getting my monster rig in a couple weeks, suited for the wave of high end games coming (Doom III, HL2, STALKER etc)

Im going for the X800XT though

Oh and btw. the Doom III demo will be released after the game has shipped in the US but before it's available in the EU .So that's between the 3rd and 15th of August.

guys, go buy the september pc gamer.

beats me why they have it out SO early, but its a good read.

good thing about this game is that it adjusts itself to your computer. so it's worry-free, in essence....unless you dont meet requirements, which is 1.5ghz, 384ram, and 64mb vid-card.

i wish i could use a soulcube on some people around here. hahahah.

DOOM 3: Windows 2000 and Xp

Well there have been rumours flying around lately that DOOM 3 would not be able to run on computers that have Windows 98 or Windows 98SE as their operating systems. Since we here at planetDOOM dislike rumours in all shapes and sizes, we went straight to the horses mouth so to speak and asked Activision themselves. The reply we got was that it is confirmed and indeed true that DOOM 3 will only run on Windows machines that have windows 2000 or XP and not lower. So there you have it, looks like some peoples upgrading woes just aren't quite over yet.

Several stores including Best Buy (not all Best Buys unfortunately.) have broken the release date and starting selling copies FYI.
Gamestop is another offender, and you can call them to ask.
Apparently when a huge game comes out (2 million pre-orders, plus the need for general stocking) they need to send shipments to stores over the course of several days instead of all in one lump (which would kill these chains as they already get one giant lump on tuesdays/wednesdays.)

well finaly got doom today!!! and installed that beast and woe dose it look amazing, the screens dont even do it justice, awsome game so far.

Oh my god that is sooooo wrong.

the Hardcop Doom 3 Benchmark said that 128mb video cards would be able to play High Settings. So would cards like Ati Radeon 9600 and up be able to play high settings?

nod nod, wink wink say no more
