I think I need to underclock my card...I don't overclock anything at all. :( So could someone tell me how to underclock my card? Or could i open it up and just shove some fan in there whenever I play d3? (I need an x800 xt :( )

Hmm,if u didn't overclock your card then you are just having overheating problems.Check the fan on your graphics card and see if it's still spinning really fast or at all.If you are in doubt go and buy a new fan for your gfx card, they aren't expensive.

I beat the game a few days ago, the ending was kinda... blah, the very ending of it was cool though 👍.

Anyone have any idea what song is used in the doom menu/credits? I heard it was a Nine Inch Nails song but i'm not sure which one

Super Turbo Turkey Puncher :) 👍

I believe the theme is from Tool. Not sure. It isnt anything from Trent or NIN because the sounds and music were redone when Trent left the project.

im kinda pissed because my comp has a amd2800, 512 ram, and a graphics card. i actually exceed minimum requirements, yet the game still lags in low quality mode. constantly. it takes away from the experience.

If it's a GeForce MX card then don't be surprised.Doom 3's requirements are very high and even though the tweaks available help a bit you still need a top of the line video card to run this game smoothly(GeForce TI4200 recommended for Low Quality).I have a GeForce 6800 Ultra and it doesn't go higher then 50 fps(during combat that is).And although i'm not complaining as anything above 30 fps is smooth it still is surprising that a card that costs around $500 doesn't deliver more than this. But anyway, check what card it is and if it turns out that you have a GeForce MX .... then you won't be able to play this game without slowdown.

its not an mx. but the lag seems to be lightening up a bit. or maybe its my imagination. i mean its a very light lag. and after i play for a few minutes i dont really notice it. but just the fact that i know its there irritates me. i was reading on some site about how you can go into the configuration and change it to make the game play more smoothly. how is this done? also im at the part where all hell has just broke loose. literaly. and im trying to go back to headquarters. this is at the beginning. and i made it to that part. where the guy in the security room gives you the gun and armor at the beginning. and he's laying on the control panel but wakes up as a zombie. but i cant get back through that door cause its locked and i have no idea where else to go. any help?

Well,i can't exactly pinpoint your location so i'm going to post the walkthrough from that level.
**Spoilers Below**
-Mars City Underground-
Get out of the elevator and turn right. The security guard will open the cabinet for you, giving you access to the armor, pistol and flashlight. Now got up the stairs that are to your right. Go through the door. Turn right and follow the catwalk. When you get to the scientist working on the crane controls start playing with them and he will leave. Now you can play around with the crane, lol.

Now continue down the stairs. When you get off the stairs there will be a door to your right. Go through it. Go down the stairs and go towards the door. You will be stopped by a hiding maintance worker. Listen to what he says. When he walks away follow him. Take out your flashlight. Under the stairs there will be 2 bits of armor, go get them. Then get out from under the stairs and go through the door across from where the maintance worker is standing.

Now follow the walkway through to the next door. You can listen in on 2 maintance workers arguing. Continue down the corridor and to the left you will see a locked cabinet. Next to cabinet 023 is a PDA. Pick it up. In the second e-mail it will tell you that the code for the keypad is 531. Inside are shells, 3 bits of armor and a medkit. Now go through the door to the right and follow the walkway.

Now you will see some cool machines to the left. Go past the machines and turn left and go through the door. Now you will see a scientist using a console to manipulate a bridge. Take the first door to the left. Follow the walkway down the stairs. When you reach a door go through it and you will be in a garage. Go down the stairs and you will see a security officer. Next to him is a pistol and a medkit, take the pistol. You will see a big yellow door with a control panel on it. Click on the button ‘Cycle Airlock’ The door should open. Go through it and press the ‘Cycle Airlock’ button in there.

The door behind you will close and the door infront of you will open. You will now be on the Martian landscape. Quickly run across the bridge and open the door by clicking on the ‘Cycle Airlock’ Button. Once the door opens go through it and click the ‘Cycle Airlock’ button. Go through the door and turn left. You should see a medkit and some stairs. Go up the stairs and then call the elevator and go up to communications.

Once you step through the door you will have completed another objective. Turn left and proceed up the stairs. Turn right and follow the walkway. Go down the stairs and through the door. You will have found the missing scientist. You will see a cut scene. After the cut scene all hell will break loose. The scientist will turn into a zombie.

Simply pull out your pistol and shoot him. Now turn around and a zombie with a pistol will come through the door, kill him too. Now go down the stairs to your left and turn left. On the desk will be some pistol ammo. Now go back up the stairs, turn left and go through the door.

Now a zombie will come from the left. After you kill him go straight. Jump off the ledge and call the elevator. Now take the elevator down to ‘Surface Access’. Once the doors open, straight ahead you will see a shelf. Go behind it and you will some boxes you can jump on. Jump onto the shelf and pick up the armor and the medkit if you got hurt. Jump down and go through the door and click ‘Cycle Airlock’ When the door opens run across the bridge and go through the door.

When you go through the next door you will be in the garage again. To the right will be a zombie eating a security guard. To the left will be a medkit. After you have killed the zombie proceed up the stairs. Turn left and go through the door. On the other side of the door will be a zombie with a wrench so watch out. After you kill him go up the stairs to your left. Turn right and follow the walkway and go through the door.

When you do a zombie will climb up the railings opposite to you. After you kill him turn left and stand at the edge of the platform jump onto the cylinder infront of you, then jump down onto the ground. In the upper left corner there will be armor and a pistol clip. Now walk along the left wall, keep walking until you reach the corner. Then turn right and there will be armor and a medkit.

Now around, turn left and go straight ahead and climb the ladder. Once you’re up on the platform turn left and go to the edge, but this time turn to the left and use the control panel to extend the bridge. While you’re crossing the bridge a zombie with a pistol will jump out. After you cross the bridge turn left and you will see some armor and a medkit. Make sure to pick up the pistol ammo the zombies drop.

Go through the door and a zombie with a pistol will run up the stairs. After you kill him pick up his ammo and go down the stairs. As you’re going down the stairs a demonic skull will fly through the air and possess a maintance worker. Go down the stairs and follow the walkway. You will reach a desk with a PDA and pistol ammo on it. Across from the desk will be a ledge with armor, pistol ammo and a medkit on it. Jump up and pick them up.

Now turn around and out will see a big yellow pipe on the right hand side. Jump up onto the pipe and walk up, then when you can’t walk further crouch. At the top there will be armor and a medkit. Turn around and jump off the pipe, go back up the stairs and open the door by using the control panel next to it. You will see a ledge above you with a scientist running away from a zombie. Kill the zombie before the scientist dies and he will thank you and run away.

Now continue down the walkway. You will see an intersection. To your left there will be a zombie. Kill it and behind where it was will be a big crate with armor next to it. Across from the armor will be a door. Go through it and you will see stairs to your right. Go down the stairs and there will be more armor, a shotgun and some shells. But beware, when you pick up the shotgun the floor will lower and 3 zombies will attack you from all sides. After you get the shotgun and kill all of the zombies there will be a ladder to the right, climb up it.

Go up the stairs to the left and through the door. When you go through the door you will see stairs infront of you. Go to the left of the stairs and get the armor and shells. Now go up the stairs and follow the walkway. You will reach some stairs at which point the lights will go out and a zombie with a flashlight will come down the stairs. After you kill him and go up the stairs a zombie with a shotgun and a maintance zombie will attack you.

Turn left and behind the crate are shotgun shells and a medkit. Now go back down the stairs and immediately to the right will be a small gap between the stairs and the wall. Jump down and crouch underneath the floor. Turn right and you’ll see some shells and a medkit. Now go back to where you jumped down to and you’ll see a ladder letting you get back up. Now turn left and go down the walkway.

Just as you start walking a wall to your left will open and a zombie will come out. Another zombie will also come from the other side of the walkway. After you’ve reached the door turn left before you go through it and there will be a shelf with pistol ammo and shells. To the right of the door is health dispenser. Make sure you are on full health. Now go through the door and turn right. You will see another door. Go through it and you will see cut scene and you’ll fight your first imp.

Now go through the door and continue down past the machines. An imp and a zombie will jump around the corner. Turn left and follow the walkway and down the stairs. When you reach the bottom of the stairs a zombie will come out from straight ahead and an imp will come up behind you. Opposite the stairs there is a small walkway. Turn right and there will be shells and armor.

Now get back out and across from you, you will see armor and a medkit sitting on a table. Pick it up and go through the door to your right. Once through the door turn left and go through the door. After going through the door there will be a medkit to you immediate left. Walk down the stairs and continue down the walkway. Around the first corner an imp will jump out. After you kill the imp go forward a few steps and a zombie with a wrench will come out from behind the crates.

Now got forward through the door to your right. On the left wall you should see 2 pipes, 1 red 1 yellow. Jump down next to the pipes and crouch underneath the floor. There will be some armor. Now turn around and jump on the red pipe and get back onto the walkway. Across from you there will be a door. Go through the door and you should see another door around the bend. On the other side of the door is an imp who will pounce on you the second you open the door. Once you go through the door turn right and pick up the medkit. A zombie with a shotgun will come up behind you. Now turn right, don’t go down the stairs. Instead take the walkway on the right.

Go down the walkway and you will see a door. Go through the door, around the bend and through the next door. You will see a set of stairs. And imp will burst through the stairs when you try to climb them. Once you’ve killed him go up stairs. Go forward and an imp will climb the side railing. Kill him and go up the stairs to the right, but be careful, the crane harness will snap and beams will fall down onto the stairs.

Continue up the stairs and turn right. Go towards the door straight ahead. The door will open and an imp will be standing on the other side. Go through the door and you will see a console to your left. A zombie with a shotgun will stand up from behind the console. Kill him and take his ammo. There will also be some armor next to where he was. You will see a health dispenser and a control panel. Next to the control panel you will see some shotgun shells.

Unlock the security checkpoint with the control panel. Go through the door you came in from and you will see a zombie with a shotgun coming towards you. Kill him, turn left and go through the door. Go down the stairs and an imp will jump down from the ceiling. Call the elevator and when the doors open a zombie with a pistol will come out. Kill him and go to Mars City.

As for the tweaking, her's how it goes:
In your Doom 3 folder should be a file called DoomConfig.cfg.In that file are all kinds of parameters with wich you can experiment. The most notable fps increase on my PC was altering the values of the following 3 lines:
seta image_useCache
seta image_cacheMegs
seta image_cacheMinK

I cant quite remember what the default values are but, depending on your hardware you can increase the amout of RAM the game uses to preload textures so that it doesn't have to load them during gameplay wich increases fps. From what i have seen of your hardware you should change the values to this:
seta image_useCache "1"
seta image_cacheMegs "256"
seta image_cacheMinK "3072"

Also, make sure to add this to the Doom3.exe shortcut:+image_cacheMegs 256 as the games reverts back to default values every time you start it up.This way it will always use 256 MB of your RAM wich also increases performance.
It should look something like this:"C:\Program Files\Doom 3\Doom3.exe" +image_cacheMegs 256

Hope this helps.

Hey guys,i'm wondering. Are any of you playing with mods. There are a few nice mods on Doom 3 Files wich i'm trying out right now.The mods that are available are nothing serious like total conversions wich btw. are in the making, they just modify some of the weapons, make the demons look a bit different(more evil) and there are also a few maps available.
If you haven't tried any of the mods, and if you want a better gaming experience, try the following:
This first one contains a spoiler for those who haven't finished the game,so i have made it so that you can only read it if you want to:

-Classic Cyberdemon Mod
This one changes the Cyberdemon to behave more like the one in the original Doom games. In other words you can kill him using any weapon instead only the Soulcube.

-Trent Rezor Sound Pack
This mod changes some of the demon sounds like they were originally meant to be.It's definetly an improvement over the sounds that came with the game.

-Xio Skinpack 4.0
This mod changes most of the npc's and demon skins in the game to look more frightening and real.Definetly recommend this one.

Fragger Mod
This mod also changes some of the demon skins, removes the flashlight and changes a lot of other things for the better. If you are going to use this mod then you wont be able to use Xio's Skinpack since they will conflict with eachother.

There are also a few maps, like the remake of the original Doom and Doom 2's first maps(still beta's,nothing special),also there is a map wich is called The Trite Breeding Facility wich is an excellent map wich i also recommend you download and try out.The map can be found here.

Well that's about it.If you have any question, post 'em here.

I decided to bump this thread with some screenshots i have taken on Ultra. All of the screenshots below have been taken with 4xaa(Anti-Aliasing) and 16xaf(Anisotropic Filtering) at a resolution of 1600x1200.In other words, this is the best that Doom 3 can look.Enjoy.

I have resized the images so that they ain't too big.

Now you can really appreciate the work Id put into the game engine.

With my X800XT PE I can run it 1600x1200 with everything cranked (ultra)(4xaa, 16xaf etc) and it will run smooth, sometimes it will jerk slightly when you enter a new large room as the new room loads. (only happens on ultra). There is very little difference to see between Ultra and very high settings.

I run this game on a GeForce 6800 Ultra and at 1600x1200(4xaa,16xaf) i had no stuttering or slowdown, except a little slowdown on one of the boss fights. This game is truly an work of art in the gfx and the sound department. It's awesome.

Just bought Doom3. Damn, if it's not THE scariest game I've ever played and I'm only abotu 30mins into it!
