Since we are going to have to start paying for GT5p content after the August 1st update, i'm refering to the pay per view GT-TV. As GT5 is a long way off yet, I believe that we will also be able to download new cars in the not to distant future. Which new cars would you like to be available in GT5p. I would like to see some of my favourites from GT3, such as;
Tickford Falcon XR8 Race Car
Toyota GT-One Race Car
Nissan R390 GT1 LM Race Car
Also a Lambo would be cool. Which cars would you like to have availalable for GT5p.

This could turn into another wish list thread, and lately, the mods haven't been welcoming them with open arms. In other words, your thread might be closed. Just giving you fair warning, mate. :indiff:

I think when cars are available for download, we will have to pay for them. Maybe we will get free cars in future updates.

If they do, there will be a public outcry about it. Customising your game in this way is not wanted and un-necessary. Yes, there are cars I dont like, but Id like to have them anyway, seeing as I paid for a full game in the first place (as in, buying GT5, not Prologue).
It also limits the events and means online events will be limited to cars that are on the disk, especially if the online games are client-hosted, as not everyone will buy the same cars or even buy any cars.

We will probably see more cars in free updates, but we will never have to pay for downloadable packs of them because of the issue of online play being seriously limited.

Downloadable cars will have no impact whatsoever on online racing if they do it right. All they need to do is what Atari did with Test Drive Unlimited. The car pack is free to download, you only need to pay to unlock them for purchase in-game. That way, as long as you downloaded the file, you can still see, and race against, cars you never purchased. The best way to do this would be to include the cars in normal required game updates. And when you purchase the car packs from the PSN Store, it simply unlocks them for use in-game.

You're forgetting that downloadable cars has been done before, several times. PGR, Forza, Need for Speed, etc.. they've all had downloadable cars, and I don't remember there being any sort of outcry about it "ruining" the online component.

The only difference I can think of will probably be in terms of volume. Most car packs for other games include what, five or six cars? This is GT.. a small, cheap car pack will probably include twenty or more.

I've spoken to the Beta Testers team about this and they've shot the pay-per-car downloads out of the water. They say that Kazunori isn't considering micro-downloads due to lack of interest in people willing to pay for them. I told them that Kazunori had been talking about it about a year ago and the answer was that he's now taken micro-downloads off the table.

But with the next update due in August and the pay-per-view TV feature, I reckon they might be testing the water for a pay-per-car function within the game. I'm certain that within the next year, they will have to ask people to pay for something because they can't keep giving us free updates all the time.

Have you noticed that they've started using "The next FREE update of Gran Turismo Prologue will be performed on...."?

Makes me think that the one after that will be "The next $50 update of Gran Turismo...."

Don't say I didn't tell you so!

;)

And that is the issue Im talking about - not everyone will download them unless you integrated it with the updates, then everyone is forced to if they want to play online.
I dont like the idea of slowly using up my whole hard drive though with huge numbers of cars that I havent paid for just because everyone uses them online.

I mean, Im sure GT5 will have a fairly hefty game data file, but that should be all thats required, it shouldnt need to take up more space and I shouldnt need to pay for content that I would have got anyway in previous GT's.

They are basically making more money off less work, this shouldnt be encouraged in my opinion and I hope PD stay away from priced Downloadable Content.

You cant expect everything for free, i would prefer them to release loads of car that you pay for rather than just a few free ones.

Why would there be a public outcry about downloadable content for GT5P? Most games have downloadable content, nobody has made any major complaints about it. How can you claim to have bought GT5 when it's not due out until 2009/2010. The online play for GT5p may be limited now, but PD have stated that they are concentrating on regularly updading GT5p with new patches to vastly improve the online play. Downloadable cars and tracks will eventually be available to download at a price, theres no such thing as a free lunch. You can either choose to buy the extra content to enhance your game, or choose not to buy it. I'm simply asking the GTP community which cars they would wan't to see in future DLC for GT5p.

I am not expecting everything for free..after all I paid for the game.

Point is, I don't feel it's generally good for most of the content to be not even available when I stick the game disk in the drive and I generally feel cheated by games that do this.
Some games it works for, as customising it enhances the experience, like say, music rythmn games, as music is a very taste-orientated joy.

However, for shooters and driving games, I find "DLC packs" to be pointless and a complete waste of money because no-one uses them online and everyone sticks to the on-disk content. Also, by the time they get around to releasing the packs, its months later when I've gotten bored with the current content as the majority of its missing because it was cut out to be sold as DLC.
You see the idiocy in downloadable content?

Oh, and there have been outcry's about paid DLC before, has everyone already forgotten EA and their DLC for Battlefield? They were going to force people to pay for that, but they quickly changed their minds when everyone compained about it.

Then you're basically creating a wishlist thread? Say goodbye to it then.

man,my list of cars will be so long i even wont start mentioning them...:):)

but, when i read your first post i had a flash in my head of a ferrari 250 gto.....i dont know why though:sly::sly:

spyrrari.

maybe its better to discuss if downloads should be paid for as they did not put a lot of content in the game in general ? :/

The "PD are you listening" thread is full of people "wishing" on what they want in GT5p updates. I suppose that some of you guys moaning about wishlists threads think that should be locked aswel. cheer up and post something constructive, or go to another thread.

They aren't asking for cars alone, though. We have Track, Car, & Misc. Wishlist threads. Anything repeating these eventually gets locked because there's already a thread for them.

Those wishlists for cars on the threads you mention are for GT5, not GT5p. I think that there is a good selection of cars in GT5p already, most aren't used online though, most people use pretty much the same cars on a given track and it's becoming a bit stale. I think it would be refreshing to have new high performance cars made available, downloadable or free.

True , but 50 bucks!?!?...Why so expensive?..Why not 19 bucks?..sounds more down to earth.

I have no problem paying for more content in a quality game like the GT series. The outcry usually comes from when a company like EA does something like they did with Bad Company, making you pay more for extra weapons that were created at the same time as the original game. If a company is still creating content a year after the initial release, they deserve some kind of compensation, because if is definitely better than racing online sponsored by Coca Cola! or seeing a bunch of other in-game advertisements.

So according to your train of thought, ALL wishlist threads should be waved goodbye to. get real.

Agreed. I also have no issues with paying for DLC, especially if it's Porche and Lambos and brand new tracks.

Doesn't matter. The same cars & tracks would be listed under a list for GT5:P, as well.

I would expect $2-4, $10 at the very worst outcome. Anymore, and I'd be expecting a large amount of content.

Sony or Polyphony better not even THINK about taking a page from M$ and EA...

They already did with the GTHD concept... ;)

I would be disappointed with PD and Sony if we had to pay additional fees for downloading content.

My main problem with DLC fees is this: many people bought GT5:P, which was $40 USD. GT5 proper will be at least $60 USD. Also, quite a few gamers bought the DFGT driving wheel, which Polyphony gets a share of the profits from.

Many of the GT players here, myself included, will have spent more than $100 USD on GT5-related content alone once we buy the full game. I might just be thrifty or selfish, but asking fans to pay additional fees for a game that many have already spent $100+ on is unreasonable. Yes, I am aware that no one was forced to buy Prologue or the DFGT, but personally, I would feel cheated if I were forced to pay more money to fully enjoy the game.

Looking at sales numbers for past GT games, GT5 is almost certainly going to sell very, very well. Because of this, and barring huge cost overruns, I can't see Polyphony having much of a cashflow problem once the full game is released.

If GT5 is delayed so Polyphony can finish developing it, no problem. But if they rush it's release and then charge gamers for content they hadn't finished yet, I will be sorely disappointed in them.

Tell me where there is a thread asking what kind of cars that people want in GT5p? there isn't one other than this. As GT5 isn't out for a long time, then people creating a list of cars they would like in GT5p would possibly influence PD in making those chosen cars available for GT5p. Afterall i'm sure PD read these forums to get an idea of what GT fans want. Do you want to be stuck with the same cars for another year or more? People started to post constructive answers to my original question, then the anti wishlist trolls come in and air their negativity. personaly, if I entered a thread that didn't really interest me, then I would go to another thread. I wouldn't post a snyde comment to the thread creator, but then some people just get a kick out of trying to put others down.
