A favourite track of mine was Smokey Mountain from GT3, great track - half tarmac and half gravel. La Sarth is a great track also. Deep forest was a good track from GT3. Be nice to have those back. :)
To be honest, I'm so bored with the current tracks, I would settle for any different track. :D

I have a nightmare where we get new tracks like Trial Mountain, Deep Forest, Le Sarthe, etc. and then have Suzuka as the only choice in the Pro events... :indiff:

Very true. The Pro events do seem quite limited compared to the Beginner and Intermediate events. I think it's maybe down to PD including a better selection of events in the Beginner and intermediate, so as to attract more people who are new to the GT series.

what's the matter? You don't want to race la sarthe in a 450pp mini cooper on N0.005 tires?

No, but I think you didn't get my point. I don't want to race Suzuka all the time. I want more choice. And I don't want performance points being changed continuously.
You know GT5p contains 12 different circuits?

OT I know, but does anybody know why there are only limited PP's & tracks at any one time? I'd imagine that someone has already posted it but I'll be dammed if I can find it. Is it purely to prolong the appeal of online? I suppose it does stop there being too many specialists?

Going in reverse is hardly enough to label it as a different circuit, not even one I'd call a variation.

We have 10 actual tracks in GT5:P, and only 5 actual circuits.

They needed to give us Suzuka, Apricott Hill (I believe was the name), maybe La Sarthe instead of daytona Road, similar concept but MUCH better layout, and a few more of those "original" tracks from GT4 like el capitan or however it was spelled.

Midfield Raceway or Grand Valley would have been good choices for some nice close racing imo.

the only interesting thing the subaru man said whas that the car will be on sale as soon as possible...:)
maybe even in october...
very tasty indeed!👍

I love watching F1 cockpit view of Suzuka. do you have any? I have a collection of Shumacher's races in cockpit view on various tracks.

Kazunori has stated that PD have already spent 3 years developing content for prologue, due to the complexity of the programming involved. Kazunori said that although he wants to implement all the things that GT fans want into GT5, it's going to take a long time to achieve it, so bits are being added gradually in the form of the updates. kaz also said that there will be far less cars in GT5 than there was in GT4, due to the time it takes to model the cars. But it's said that more cars will become available to download after GT5 is finaly released. It was said that the more exotic models will be more expensive to DL, which makes sense, but no price was mentioned.

Kaz has hinted at online trading of special cars and releasing 'Limited Edition' cars too which may be limited to something akin to their rarity in real life.

If that happens, I'm sure we'll end up with a price war on our hands, hehe. 1000 Porsche 959's to the highest bidders for DLC?

Where did you guys see this article ?

I hope it doesn't come to this. GT has always been about driving cars that we would never be able to drive in real life, and if this "limited edition" idea happens, then it will go against what has made Gran Turismo such a good series. By the way, do you have a source for this interview?

This was said when GTHD was released as an online DL only. I'm fairly certain that I read it in a PS rag, but it was so long ago, I can't remember exactly which one. PSM?

GT has changed a lot and his intentions have changed too, but if DLC is on the cards and a pay-per-car fee is also going to be charged, I can see an online bartering system taking place, especially if PD decide to release special "prize cars" that can only be downloaded to people who win official PSN competitions.

Kazunori wants the entire concept of Gran Turismo to go online, including races. The single-player content will diminish drastically if he has his way and he'll set up the entire game through online racing only. Sunday Cup races = racing against live opponents. Polyphony Digital Cups = online racing only.

It's the logical way to go because quite simply if the market is big enough, PD won't have to invest large amounts of time into improving AI. There will be no AI, there'll just be the stupidity of human vs human.

The single player game is just a formality now. Soon it will become totally unnecessary. I might be wrong, but if Prologue's online popularity is anything to go by, GT5 is headed that way...

I don't think that the single player mode will be affected at all, because not everyone that plays GT has an internet connection. Even the people that do have an internet connection that play, don't always want to play online. I do agree that the online side of GT will be vastly expanded as the series continues.

I really hope not; if this happens it will mean a lot of people will never win the cars you get as a reward for completing a racing series; which would alienate a lot of the casual GT players. I know a lot of people that have played through the series, winning what races they want to (a lot of them don't do the 24 hr races for example) and getting the prize cars from them. Some of them don't even bother to BUY a car in GT, they use the ones they win, end of. If Kaz and the team go down the road of "if you win this online championship, we'll give you this Bentley Speed 8 LM race car", how many people are going to A) achieve that (as there are some seriously quick racers out there, and B) lose interest oh-so quickly because they've been punted off for the 5th time today? Lets not forget any kind of 'online-only' GT will have to be on public servers, which has not proven to be brilliant so far, lets be honest.

I like the GT series for its huge single player challenge, I like being able to collect, tune up and race every car in the games, and now, with Prologue, I like to be able to go online occasionally to see how I stack up. Taking one or the other away from the series now would be derogatory IMHO.

Now that I think about it, how would a championship series work anyway? you would have to race against the same people for the entire thing, and thats just not going to happen in the Polyphony Digital cup at 10races x20 laps each or whatever it will be.

Of course, if PD decide they want to do special 'one of a kind' tournaments where the winner gets a car no-one else will own, then ok, I guess I can get on board with it, as long as its something totally random as opposed to an Enzo or suchlike. A lot of us on here play GT as we get to race cars we will never, ever own in real life; making those cars online tournament winner-only cars will take take that away from us and leave us racing Honda Civics, which for me would ruin GT's magic.

mini rant over :)

I'm with you on that but i doubt they will put the series on public servers.

I think atleast 95% of the people that has the console has linked it online.

Possibly online will have a BIG role in the game but Single Player will still dominate.

No it won't because people will make sure that there ass is online trying to WIN that tournament.

@Japspecvr6

I wouldn't go as far as to say that 95% have GT5p online, but it has a fairly large amount of people online. If it were as much as 95% then it would be hard to enter a race, considering that we have a limited amount of events at the moment. A lot of people are put off of playing online due to the BS penalty system and punters

I think that all events will/should have the option of either racing against AI, or against online opponents. And standard online racing will be available from the Arcade Mode.

But regarding cars, I'm not paying a cent for any GT5P. I was willing to buy Prologue to satisfy me until GT5 comes out, but I'm not going to buy a bunch of DLC that's going to just wind up as content that's included with the full GT5.

Kazunori has already stated that he is merging GT5p into GT5, although he has confirmed that the final GT5 will be on a seperate BR Disc. More cars and tracks will be made available in future updates, but as PD have started to say the next FREE update will be on August 1st, it would suggest that any future updates may be chargable. So were going to start paying sooner or later, and with Kazunori saying that GT5 won't be out until late 2009/early 2010, I would of thought that we will be getting hit with DLC before the final realease.

Yes, but I'm pretty sure that if they do charge, all the cars and tracks needed to be purchased in order to turn Prologue into the equivalent of the Blu-ray GT5 will cost more than $20. And even with Kazunori wanting to evolve Prologue into the full GT5, GT5 may still have a feature or two that Prologue never gets.

GT5 will make prologue look old. We'll more than likely have to pay for DLC though.

GT5 won't make Prologue look old. How can you make a 1080P game look old?

I really don't think GT5 will be that different to Prologue. More tracks, more cars, music, reworked front end and GUI but the physics and handling will essentially be the same, the car modelling will be the same and the only minor things will be tweaked. If it's going to be COMPLETELY different, then there should not be a link between the two of them. What we're essentially using now is the core game in a nutshell. That isn't going to change in the near future. It takes too much work to redevelop an engine like this.

I mean't look old as in what the final content will be in GT5, compared to GT5p, not in it's physical graphical appearance. Kazunori has said that in GT5, the graphics will be more polished. things like the jaggies around the cars, and the lighting affects.

That's good to hear. LOL sometimes I think the graphics in GT5P are a little 'too crisp'. Not asking for less detail, but some of the shine and polish is wrong. Especially of that front-on view that you get when you first buy a car....
