I think we should leave it like it is. It's hard to check every aspect of it, but we should go on trust for that. All manager should take good time to make sur their pilots run clean.

For sur some of the combos have been made like they are for good reason.

At worst we may change power +20%, and weight 10% for all arcade proposition.

Why does the Ai need to be a factor in any BC race?Get em the hell out of the way as quick as possible and let the racers race.

Doesnt the HP rating show up on the beginning of the replays? If so then the only issue is the weight of the cars which should be set to -10 to be sure nobody pulls a BAR and runs light.

In at least one of our races, the AI difficulty is set to +10 to spread the cars on the track so they can be passed more easily/cleanly.

And I posted almost the same thing Iforce did in our team forum. These races are 0 AI contact and should be set to be driven around fast and early. Save the AI races for other OLR comps.

Yeah, we wouldn't want any of the best racers in the world driving races that are too difficult for them.

These races are 0 AI contact

Thats just the hotlaps Jim. 5 laps or less, allows 3 penalties before a DQ. Long race allows 6 penalties.

Besides, I dunno why everyones worried about a bit of AI in the mix. I thought one of the main functions of a BC was to challenge the depth of board as a whole. Every board has its good hot lappers, others are dirt specialist and others are good at picking their way through a race pack. This ones been structured to cover a wide range.. long, short races, hotlaps, dirt snow, and even has margin for races outside the norm. If a race ain't liked it won't get voted simple as that, but you've got to have a bit of a Broad challenge that encompasses the AI to call it a BC imho.. otherwise we might as well run the whole thing as a database hotlap convetion

Well, yeah, Tony, and that was kind of why I tried to organize the categories like I did. Traffic can hold you up. Dealing with it is a skill. Nobody in real racing just goes to qualify and then doesn't run the race; or if they can't live up to their qualifying in traffic, they don't do very well.

Real racers arent given time penalties for minor contact either. If the AI in this game drove with any kind of a brain this all wouldnt matter. How many times have you seen the game brake early, then speed up entering a corner?Or if when you pass near a braking zone have the AI ram you in the ass like its the ghost of Dale Earnhardt @ Bristol?

Its about driving at the limit, not about who has 4 hrs a night to spend trying to figure out how to pass a car that driven by a computer without getting a time penalty.

Oh, the AI suck, I agree. And it may have sounded like it, but I didn't intend to be slighting people who prefer hot laps. I agree that driving's the real skill.

That's also why I set the contact penalties up to be a little more lenient than they have been in previous BCs.

But I've been running in the Speed World Challenge, which is mostly done as 10-lap track meets, and the traffic definitely throws an element of variety into it. If it was a series of 10 hot lap competitions I never would have stayed interested in it, and I doubt anybody else would have either.

There are plenty of plain hot lap scenarios to choose from; the popular vote will decide.

I see a slippery slope near by. I rememeber the BC that was run out of GTN and they allowed AI contact and it got ugly. Thats why the last 2 were run so clean.

I do like hot lap, but we do ride most of the time hot lap, and i'm sure some set there races to have some races simulation. I agree AI are not the best, but it's for sur fun to deal with them some time then just race in a free run. The online mode is not realy working and i'm ancious to drive some good race with real other racers. So a little bit of AI gives the feeling at least.

Well, let's see how the votes turn out. If it's really unpopular, it won't make the grade. Besides, although I see your point, Ed, my point in allowing a few non-beneficial taps is to reduce the impetus to try and get away with stuff.

Not even remotely close. LAN (real people) is an entire different kind of racing.

Closest thing to real people the AI ever get are if one of the real people spin out and come back on in front of you un-expectedly. You try to avoid them, but sometimes it's impossible. The AI... you try to avoid them, but sometimes it's impossible. :yuck:

I didn't get any proposals from them. I left a reminder on their board, and I told them the polls are up, but I haven't heard from anybody.

Maalcari was running in the Speed World Challenge, too, but he just kind of dropped out there.

On a similar note, I have a new team that wants to register. Are there any objections?

What do people think about adding more race proposals, or is it OK if they vote but don't submit any of their own?

Don't know how the other caps feel, but I'd be cool with another team joining in. I think it's a bit short notice to ask them to find 10 or 11 proposals right off the bat.. and imho we've got enough to wade through as it is ;) would they be happy to vote for the ones already up?

btw. Anyone we know? or a new board (just being nosey) :D

That's kind of what I was figuring. Thanks, guys.

OK, please note that I've added our new contestants the Crazy Team to the proposals. They submitted a list of races when they made their sign up, so I added them to the bottom of each list, in red.

I'm going to mildly* protest the inclusion of the late Crazy Team's proposals...I spent the better part of an hour, along with Random and The359, constructing identical polls in our team forum, and half the team has already voted on the existing list. There was an extended deadline for submitting proposals, and now that the proposed races have been published, additional races are added for consideration?

*Just a formality. At this point, Team GTX will only be voting on the original proposed races.

I understand your protest. I included them only because they furnished a list at the same time as they signed up. They are all in red to indicate that they came in later.

I urge other teams who share this feeling to vote similarly. This will allow both the spirit and the letter of the rules to be upheld.

I've added crazy's races to our internal list, dunno if the guys will vote for them.. re- printing that bloody list, drinks too much ink on cheapo inkjets ;). Course if the crazy team supply us with nice new lasers they'd be in with a good shot :D

Hi Duke, sorry to be a pain. Just want to clarify something.

In the penalty rules it states that the long races 1 - 20 laps will allow up to 6 unitentional offs or touches. Thats fair enough...But it also mentions the "Long Track Races" too

3.9.3: Long Races (more than 10 laps) and Long Track Races: Offs, Wall Touches, and non-beneficial AI Touches shall be assessed a penalty as follows:

2 or less Offs or Touches: no penalty
3 Offs or Touches: 0.5 second total penalty
4 Offs or Touches: 1.0 second total penalty
5 Offs or Touches: 2.0 second total penalty
6 Offs or Touches: 4.0 second total penalty
7 or more Offs or Touches: DQ

There are a few entries of multi laps in the long track category
GT Challenge - 4 laps
Numbers - 3 laps
GTN - 2 Laps
GT Times- 4 laps
The rest are all hot laps.

I'd assume that hotlaps would come under the single laps rule i.e 100% clean
and that the others multi lap entries on the long tracks, would come under the short race (5 laps or less) rules. (i.e 4 offs = a DQ)

Is that right?
